Floating life reflects two lotuses

Chapter 1 The Bracelet of Destiny

boom!

The sound of blue and white porcelain shattering was crisp and jarring in the empty room.

Porcelain shards flew, swirling on the smooth floor before finally fading into silence.

The woman stood amidst the shattered porcelain shards, her pink dress trembling slightly, like a string about to snap. Undisguised rage burned in her eyes as she stared intently at the empty room, as if her greatest enemy lurked there.

"Chu Wanlian, what right do you have to use my body so wantonly!"

Her voice was sharp, filled with despair and resentment, echoing in the room for a long time.

Then she fell silent. She clutched her head in her hands, gritting her teeth and muttering, "Shut up!"

No one responded, except for that cold, mocking voice in her mind.

"Xiao Jinlian, what right do you have to criticize me now?"

Her body stiffened abruptly, and a weak protest escaped her throat: "I didn't... I didn't do anything to wrong you..."

The voice was as cold as ice: "Really not? Where is Li Heng? Dare you say your heart has never wavered?"

"Enough!" she roared, her voice abruptly cut off. Her body slumped to the ground, like a leaf in the wind, disappearing into the silence.

The sunset outside the window was like fire, burning this tranquil world intensely.

"Xiao Jinlian! Do you want to be laid off next month? You've only just submitted your report now, what are you even good for?!"

The noisy subway station and hurried voices pulled her back to reality. Standing in the crowded throng, she heard urgent shouts: "What are you standing there for? Make way!"

She bowed her head in apology, dragged herself to a corner, and clutched her bag tightly to her shoulder. The crowd jostled and complained; her presence seemed insignificant.

“Xiao Jinlian, your colleagues all say you’re difficult to get along with. If you continue like this, I won’t be able to help you.”

Her supervisor's reprimands echoed in her mind, like countless needles piercing her nerves. She lowered her head, squeezed out of the subway, and dragged her tired body home.

As soon as the door opened, her mother's voice came as expected: "Where's the oil? Didn't I tell you to buy oil? How could you forget again!"

She was speechless, quickly grabbing her purse: "I'll go buy it right now..."

The fiery sunset reflected on her face, yet she moved through the crowd like a walking corpse.

"Young lady, could you please get me that bottle of oil?"

The old woman's voice pulled her back to reality. She looked up at the wrinkled yet kind hands reaching for the oil drums on the shelf.

"Okay, Mother-in-law." She forced a smile and handed over the heavy oil.

"Thank you!" the old woman smiled kindly. "You're such a good child."

She was stunned. The long-lost warmth was like a ray of sunshine shining into her cold heart.

"Take it, young lady, this is a small token of my appreciation."

She stood at the garden gate, staring blankly at the bracelet in her hand. The jade beads were warm and smooth, and the runes on them seemed to shimmer with light as if they were alive.

"Grandma, what is this?"

“It’s a little thing I made myself, it’s not worth much,” the old woman smiled, “but it will bring you a little good luck.”

The moon in the mirror reflects two lotuses, good and evil are bound by fate. Day and night, souls alternate, life and death are intertwined.

She lay in bed, staring blankly at the bracelet. The jade beads shimmered slightly under the bedside lamp, as if whispering. Her fingertips traced the delicate lotus pendant, and suddenly her heart skipped a beat—it seemed to have some inexplicable connection with her.

"What the hell is this..."

A breeze blew past the window, and the bracelet jingled softly, like some distant call.

Suddenly her phone vibrated twice. She picked it up and saw it was a message from Xu Nianni:

[NiNi]: See you this weekend! I'll take you to try that new mala tang place! It's the perfect stress reliever, you know what I mean~

[NiNi]: Also, your birthday is coming soon, right? I'm going to prepare a super cool gift for you!

Xiao Jinlian couldn't help but smile and replied:

[Lianlian]: Please don't wrap the gift like a chili pepper this time, please...

A few seconds later, the phone vibrated again:

[NiNi]: How could that be! My chili pepper keychain from last time was so cute! Besides, isn't the chili pepper just like your life? Thriving and prosperous!

Xu Nianni was her best friend. With her company through all the unexpected events, the days weren't so hard to get through. Xiao Jinlian laughed out loud, and the fatigue of the past few days seemed to ease a little.
