"Lord Han, please receive the imperial decree."

Han Zhi quickly stepped forward and accepted the imperial edict. Su Zhen also said, "This eunuch has gone to great lengths to make this trip. Why not do me the honor of entering the hall and having a cup of hot tea to warm yourself up?"

The angel smiled and said, "Then I'm sorry to bother you."

With the angel leading them into the main hall, Han Zhi placed the silk scroll in the center of the hall, and Yue Ping brought over tea.

The angel gently blew on the tea, then took a sip and smiled, "Lord Han is so young, yet he has a happy family and a wife by his side, so he no longer has to worry about family matters when he is away. Therefore, he was able to come up with good ideas for His Majesty and resolve the Leng Qing case."

"Not only that, but he was also accepted as a student by the incorruptible Privy Councilor Bao. I have great respect for him."

Han Zhi quickly replied, "No, no, I only said a few words."

"If these are just empty words, then what about the two poems by Master Han in last month's poetry competition? His Majesty praised 'Qinyuanchun' highly at the time."

The angel continued, “The Emperor says that autumn poems are mostly melancholic, but this poem is magnificent and beautiful. The ‘Qinyuanchun’ poem, which describes the autumn scenery, recalls classmates and reminisces about the past, and expresses heroic sentiments, is truly the most heroic piece of writing.”

Han Zhi could only laugh awkwardly. Just as he was about to speak, the angel added:

"Like father, like son!"

Upon hearing this, the smiles on Han Zhi and Su Zhen's faces slowly faded. Seeing this, the angel asked, "What's wrong? Is something wrong at home?"

Su Zhen shook his head and said on Han Zhi's behalf, "Please don't misunderstand, Your Excellency. My husband has been missing you often since he came to the capital. Now that you've mentioned it, he's thinking of you again."

The angel suddenly realized what was going on and laughed, "It was our fault then."

"To be honest, when the Emperor bestowed this residence upon us twenty years ago, it was my family who made the arrangements. In a way, we do have some connection with you two."

After listening to the angel's long speech, and having finished his tea, he stood up and said:

"It's getting late, and it's kind of you two to listen to me say all this."

He then came outside, took a tray from his attendant, and lifted the yellow cloth covering it, revealing two large volumes of books inside. He smiled and said, "His Majesty knows you are a scholar, so he personally selected two volumes of articles from the Hanlin Academy to bestow upon you."

"Thank you, Your Majesty."

Su Zhen stepped forward and took the book, and together with Han Zhi, they saw the angel off.

......

After lunch, Han Zhi finished arranging the delivered items and returned to his room. Su Zhen was still sitting on the couch, reading a book.

Han Zhi walked over, sat down beside her, and gently put his arm around her. Normally, she would have turned around by now, but this time, she was completely focused on the contents of the book. Even when Han Zhi tickled her, she only moved slightly.

"Oh, my lord, stop fooling around." Su Zhen, annoyed by the teasing, reached out and gently patted Han Zhi's restless hand.

"What is Eighth Sister looking at?"

“Look at the books bestowed by the Emperor,” Su Zhen said, turning another page. “They truly are worthy of being part of the Imperial Academy’s collection; every article in them is exceptional.”

"If you carefully examine and study each one, Your Excellency, you will have nothing to fear in the imperial examinations in the future."

As she spoke, she picked up a pen that was lying to the side, dipped it in ink, and began making marks in the book. Then she rested the pen tip against her chin, tilted her head slightly, and seemed to be thinking about something.

There was still some time before the daily study session, so Han Zhi gently held Su Zhen in his arms. He inhaled the scent of ink emanating from her and wanted to kiss her temple. However, Su Zhen seemed to dislike being disturbed and said with some displeasure:

"My lord, please don't move, or I'll send you back to school."

As she spoke, she circled some marks in the book again, then began adding words, seemingly her own interpretations. She just stood there quietly, reading for a while and writing for a while.

Suddenly, she came across an excellent article, and was filled with amazement. After reading the entire text, marking it, and making her own annotations, she quickly sat up straight and whispered:

"Official?"

No one responded.

"Official?"

She wanted to share the article with Han Zhi, but no one responded. She was a little puzzled and then looked away from the book.

She closed the book, stood up and looked around, only to realize with a start that Han Zhi was no longer beside her. Remembering that she had just "sent" him to the study to read, she couldn't help but chuckle.

Su Zhen then stepped down from the couch, gently straightened her skirt, picked up the book, and walked gracefully towards Han Zhi's study. Pushing open the door, she saw Han Zhi sitting upright at his desk, a book in his hand, his brow slightly furrowed, his expression one of deep concentration.

She coughed lightly, immediately attracting his attention. He looked up at the sound, and seeing it was Su Zhen, his eyes lit up with surprise. He asked, "Why is Eighth Sister here? Weren't you reading in your room?"

Su Zhen smiled and approached, sitting down next to Han Zhi and placing the book on the table. She said, "I just came across an article that I found particularly good, and I wanted to share it with you, sir."

Han Zhi reached out and pulled Su Zhen into his arms, asking, "Which one?"

Su Zhen opened the book, pointed to the article she had just read, and said, "This is it. The writing is profound and insightful, and the arguments are all reasonable. It is truly amazing."

Then, she pointed to one of the passages and said, "My lord, please look at this passage..."

Following Su Zhen's fingertip, he nodded and said, "Indeed, it's quite good."

So Su Zhen began to explain his understanding and insights in detail, and Han Zhi listened attentively, nodding occasionally. After finishing his explanation to Han Zhi, Su Zhen sighed again:

"Truly worthy of being a book in the Hanlin Academy's collection, it is indeed a fine article. If only I could write one myself, how wonderful that would be."

After saying that, she broke free from Han Zhi's embrace and headed towards the room. But then she seemed to remember something, turned around and sat back down next to Han Zhi, leaning on his shoulder to continue reading.

"Isn't Eighth Sister going back inside to check?" Han Zhi asked.

Su Zhen shook her head and said, "Let's forget it. I'm the only one in the room, and Xiao Hei doesn't understand literature. Even if he sees a good article, there's no one to talk to."

“If I were to go looking for you, my lord, it would mean going back and forth, which would waste my time reading. It would be better to stay in the study and keep you company.”

Han Zhi smiled, flipped through the book in his hand, and said, "But didn't Eighth Sister just want to read the book and didn't want me?"

"How could this be?" Su Zhen smiled gently and said, "If my husband is not here, even the best articles are meaningless to read without him by my side, with no one to share this joy with me."

"Can't someone else do it?" Han Zhi asked again.

"Of course not. If my husband isn't by my side, what difference is there between that and having no one by my side at all?"
