"This……"

This is pretty much what I already know, right? The only discrepancy is that I don't know Liu Yong.

Han Zhi narrowed his eyes—he would never believe unofficial histories again! Those books used as historical evidence, he, Han Zhi, certainly didn't intend to believe them anymore.

Seeing his expression, Bao Zheng wondered what he was thinking and said, "Since that's the case, let's go back directly. It's snowing now, and you're not wearing any clothes, otherwise Su Niangzi might worry."

Han Zhi nodded, naturally agreeing.

……

Su Zhen was reading inside, but after a while, he felt a chill. He looked up and saw that it was snowing lightly outside.

"broken!"

She quickly put down her book, closed the window, and frantically rummaged through the wardrobe for a thick coat and an umbrella. After putting on the cloak, she ran out.

The maids outside had all gone back inside, and she, alone with her umbrella, slowly made her way to the door. She seemed deeply worried, constantly glancing towards both ends of the street.

She didn't know how long she waited before she finally saw a carriage slowly approaching. The carriage looked familiar, so she took two steps forward, went down the steps, and looked over with some anticipation.

Her patient waiting was not in vain; Han Zhi quickly poked his head out of the carriage. Upon seeing Su Zhen, his face lit up with joy, and he excitedly ran down, still holding the pink cloak in his hand.

This was naturally noticed by Su Zhen, and for a moment, it felt rather irritating. Just then, Han Zhi pecked her on the cheek.

"Oh dear—my husband, you have no sense of shame, yet you are so dissolute."

Su Zhen gently patted her, instantly forgetting the glaring cloak. Then she handed the clothes she was holding to Han Zhi, but the other man hesitated for a moment, holding a box of pastries in one hand and the cloak in the other, seemingly unable to free his hands.

This made Su Zhen frown, and she withdrew the clothes from her hands. The pungent smell of rouge and powder faintly entered her nostrils.

She frowned slightly and said, "My lord, why do you need my clothes? I don't know which beautiful lady saw that you weren't wearing warm clothes and took pity on you, so she lent me one."

"Now it's fine if you don't wear it, my lord. Instead, you hold it in your arms like a treasure, which makes me seem like I have no heart for it. This rouge and powder smells pungent and looks irritating."

After saying that, she simply turned away, deliberately avoiding looking at Han Zhi.

Han Zhi lowered his head, looked at the cloak draped over his hand, and quickly explained, "Eighth Sister, please don't misunderstand, this is just my..."

"It's just that the lady was kind-hearted. Seeing that you were dressed so thinly, she took pity on you and, despite being cold herself, lent you her clothes. Isn't that right?"

Han Zhi actually nodded, saying foolishly, "That's true..."

Su Zhen was furious and simply turned and went into the mansion, ignoring Han Zhi. When Han Zhi turned around, Bao Zheng had already left, so he hurriedly followed Su Zhen.

Su Zhen walked quickly this time, and there was some snow on the ground. Han Zhi was carrying things, so he couldn't chase after her. He could only keep up with her at a brisk pace.

He followed her back to her room, then put his cloak aside and presented Su Zhen with a handful of snacks. However, Su Zhen picked up her book again, seemingly unwilling to acknowledge him.

"Eighth Sister? I really didn't go looking for any other girls. She just came up to me, said a few words, and lent me the clothes," Han Zhi tried to explain.

“Of course, my lord is handsome and talented, so naturally there are people eager to pursue him. Unlike me, I am just sharp-tongued and don’t know how to care for my lord. Why should I bother to ask after him or be presumptuous?” Su Zhen didn’t even look up, just kept reading his book.

"I didn't, this really was given to me by someone else, I really didn't do anything. Eighth Sister, you have to believe me." Han Zhi was most afraid of Su Zhen being difficult like this, whether she was really being difficult or not.

It can be said that Su Zhen's move completely outmaneuvered Han Zhi.

"How can I trust you, my lord?" Su Zhen said again, "It's common for you gentlemen to have some romantic encounters. But to casually take other people's clothes like this shows that you've put me out of your heart."

Han Zhi was somewhat dejected and carefully pushed the pastry box in front of Su Zhen.

"Don't be angry, Eighth Sister. Have some pastries. I heard from Master Bao that this is the best pastry shop in Bianjing. While they're still warm, Eighth Sister, would you like some?"

"This is something even the most benevolent Bodhisattva probably received a share of, and what I have is likely leftovers. In that case, what use is it if I eat it without my husband's appreciation?"

Han Zhi felt a pang of unease upon hearing this. Without a second thought, he stood up, picked up the cloak, and whispered:

"Well... since Eighth Sister doesn't like this, I'll go and return it to her."

Having said that, he stopped brushing the remaining snow off his shoulders and turned to walk away. Seeing that he was probably upset, Su Zhen quickly put down her book and said:

"Alright, sir. Since it was borrowed by the lady, even if she doesn't wear it, it still needs to be washed and returned. Your behavior of taking it back and forth like this is disrespectful to her."

Han Zhi was somewhat stubborn: "It's better to send it back now. I can apologize again if necessary. I'm just afraid that Eighth Sister won't like it and will be annoyed if she sees it every day. I'd like to send it back so that I can have some peace and quiet."

Su Zhen then said, "Now you know to consider my feelings? If you had known this beforehand, why did you accept that lady's cloak back then? Perhaps you already had designs on her, but just lacked the right opportunity."

Han Zhi explained, "Eighth Sister herself said that the kind Bodhisattva saw I was cold and that my home was close to the pastry shop, so she lent me her clothes. I initially refused, but they had already run far away, and I was in a hurry to get home, so..."

As he spoke, Han Zhi seemed to have made up his mind again, and stepped out.

He knew perfectly well that his wife was jealous, and if he didn't return the clothes directly, he feared he would miss several intimate days.

Seeing him like this, Su Zhen quickly stepped forward and pulled him back. In return, she received a puzzled and bewildered look from Han Zhi, who seemed not to understand her actions.

Su Zhen found it quite amusing. It was always Han Zhi, the official who made the mistake, who was the one who needed to be coaxed. Yet, every time things progressed, it ended up being Su Zhen who had to coax him. It was truly strange.

Is it because he's too simple-minded?

Or is it that she can't stand his simple-minded appearance?

It doesn't seem to matter anymore. Even if I'm jealous and angry, the other person will always show their remorse through actions. So why not go back and comfort this dejected husband?

"My lord, listen to me, there's no need to go. At the very least, you should wash it clean and return it to me." She smiled, took the garment, and put it back where it was.
