Chapter 138 Feng Hua's Showdown
Xin Yi parked the car steadily next to the hospital, and then, with an excited Ning Hao, strode towards Feng Hua's office.
However, when they arrived, they found that Feng Hua was not in the office. Xin Yi shrugged helplessly and decided to take Ning Hao to find a place to sit down and wait.
"Will Auntie's current mood affect her work efficiency?"
Thinking of this, Xin Yi quickly shook her head. Her aunt was the head of surgery, so she should have that much professional ethics. She shouldn't overthink it.
Not long after, Feng Hua finally finished her busy work and dragged her exhausted body back to the office. When she saw Xin Yi sitting leisurely on the chair, her anger was instantly ignited.
"What are you doing here?" Feng Hua's voice was full of displeasure, and her face was also very ugly.
Although she sensed that Feng Hua's tone and expression were somewhat unusual, out of respect for her elder, Xin Yi still politely replied, "Auntie, are you done with your work? Please sit down and rest for a while!"
"I'm asking you, why did you come here?" Feng Hua pressed on relentlessly.
"Hao Hao and I came to find you after we finished breakfast!" Xin Yi said with a smile.
Ning Hao chimed in, "Yes, Auntie, I came with my sister!"
After saying that, Ning Hao ran over and hugged Feng Hua tightly, rubbing his little head against her body. It was clear that Ning Hao really liked his aunt Feng Hua.
Feng Hua also liked Ning Hao very much. Although she was very tired, she still picked Ning Hao up and said affectionately, "Hao Hao missed Auntie?"
"Okay!" Ning Hao nodded obediently.
Feng Hua sat down at her desk with Ning Hao in her arms, calmed herself down a bit, and then looked at Xin Yi, asking in confusion, "Didn't that brat Feng Yi come to find you? Did you miss each other?"
“We’ve met, and we even had breakfast together. He should be back at the police station by now!” Xin Yi answered truthfully.
"Back to the police station?" Feng Hua exclaimed.
Has something changed again? Didn't he promise me he would never let Xin Yi go? Why is Xin Yi still sitting here unharmed? What's going on?
Feng Hua grew angrier the more she thought about it. "Didn't he say anything to you?"
"Him? You mean Brother Feng? I hope you're not angry. Brother Feng told me about Uncle Yun being ambushed by enemy agents, and we analyzed it together!" Xin Yi said hesitantly.
"Oh? You guys analyzed it together? Can you tell me your analysis results?" Feng Hua's tone became increasingly harsh, as if she was about to explode.
“I heard from Brother Feng that in the past few years, whenever Uncle Yun comes to Black City, he always makes time to stay outside your courtyard for a while before leaving!” Xin Yi looked at Feng Hua cautiously, afraid that she might suddenly explode.
"What? Then why didn't he just come in? What does he take me for? In his heart, am I that worthless?" Feng Hua looked hurt, tears welling up in her eyes.
Seeing Feng Hua's reaction, Xin Yi sighed inwardly, unable to help but admire Yun Bo's deep and reserved love for Feng Hua. He clearly loved Feng Hua so much, yet he chose to silently endure his longing and pain for fear of bringing her danger; such emotions were truly moving.
“Aunt, you and Uncle Yun grew up together since childhood. Don’t you understand his personality? He has feelings for you, but he is worried about hurting you, so he doesn’t dare to get close to you easily.”
Feng Hua gently placed Ning Hao on the ground. Ning Hao seemed to sense Feng Hua's inner pain and, unlike his usual willful self, obediently walked to the side and sat down quietly.
Feng Hua tried hard to hold back her tears and raised her head to prevent them from falling.
"Yiyi, why do you think he tortures himself like this? He can sacrifice himself for China, so how could I not be willing to give everything for him?"
After speaking, Feng Hua reached out and gently rubbed her temples, saying, "Continue with your analysis!"
"Based on our speculation, this ambush was likely a meticulously planned operation by enemy agents. They must have thoroughly understood Uncle Yun's lifestyle before choosing to strike!"
Seeing Feng Hua trying so hard to remain calm, Xin Yi couldn't help but feel admiration. After all, it was not something an ordinary person could do to keep her emotions in check at a time like this.
After listening to Xin Yi's words, Feng Hua also felt that it was very likely. So it turned out that he encountered this ambush because of me. That makes sense. If it weren't for me, how could he have been alone?
"So? You mean there are still enemy agents in the county town?" Feng Hua frowned, a hint of worry in her eyes.
Xin Yi wasn't sure either. She pursed her lips and said softly, "Maybe yes, maybe no!"
"Really? Then why do I feel like you're an enemy agent?" Feng Hua asked firmly, staring straight at Xin Yi as if trying to see right through her.
These words suddenly reminded Xin Yi of the requests Feng Yi had made to her when he was injured last time, and she couldn't help but say speechlessly, "Auntie, how could I be an enemy agent? I am a fine young man who loves my country!"
She sighed helplessly and continued to explain, "Besides, if I were really an enemy agent, I wouldn't have saved Feng Yi at Ning Zheng's house last time!"
Clearly, Feng Hua didn't believe Xin Yi at all. She smiled sarcastically, "You think you've hidden it well, but I found out a long time ago. It's just that that brat said there wasn't enough evidence and he needed to observe you further. Otherwise, I would have arrested you long ago. But this time you really went too far. You're supposed to be Feng Yi's girlfriend, how could you lay your hands on Yun Bo? How dare you?"
Upon hearing this, Xin Yi's heart sank. She didn't know what she had done wrong to make Feng Hua and her niece misunderstand her as an enemy agent.
However, since they hadn't reported her situation yet, it meant that Feng Yi probably still trusted her. Thinking this, Xin Yi felt a little more at ease.
“Aunt, I know that no matter what I say, you won’t believe me. So why don’t you tell me all your so-called discoveries, and I’ll explain them to you clearly? Is that alright?” Xin Yi decided to take the initiative, hoping to dispel Feng Hua’s doubts.
Feng Hua looked at Xin Yi, a hint of doubt and hesitation flashing in her eyes. She began to wonder, could she really have made a mistake? She recalled her previous suspicions and observations of Xin Yi, and a sense of unease began to creep into her heart.
However, as someone born into a military family, Fenghua couldn't easily trust anyone and had to remain vigilant. Therefore, she decided to temporarily set aside her personal feelings and examine the issue from an objective perspective.
"Fine, since you're still not giving up, then I'll have a serious talk with you. Don't think I'm like that brat; I won't be easily fooled!"
