Tangli Fried Snow
Chapter 6 Jiangbei Camp
Jiangbei Camp. Inside a dark green military tent, Jin Yan was discussing military matters with several lieutenant generals.
He glanced at his youngest son indifferently. In the past two years, he had grown to almost six feet tall, a head taller than him, which was good. It was just that he looked too much like his birth mother, fair-skinned and handsome, lacking the ruggedness of a man, which was not good.
He was dressed in brand-new armor and sat to his left. Jin Yan looked at his youngest son and said, "Your armor looks great. You've been wearing it for several years and there isn't a single scratch."
Jin Cheng smiled slightly and said smugly, "Over the past few years, there have been many people who have tried to challenge me, but none of them have been able to get close."
Jin Yan really wanted to give him a good whack on the head, but this brat still couldn't tell the difference between good and bad words, so he could only say sarcastically, "Maybe you've picked the wrong opponents. Are they all cowards?"
Jin Cheng raised an eyebrow: "I am now a master swordsman, and my archery skills are also top-notch."
Jin Yan looked at him, his tiger eyes flashing with cold light: "Your sword has never killed anyone, it has never cut through fresh flesh, it has never drunk its fill of enemy blood. You must be ready at all times."
Jin Cheng fell silent.
Jin Yan said to his deputy Lin Guanhai, "Guanhai, tell me, when was the first time you killed someone?"
Lin Guanhai glanced at Jin Cheng and slowly said, "I will never forget it. He was a bandit. At that time, I was a guard and only sixteen years old. I stabbed him in the chest with a sword. Blood sprayed all over my face. I didn't sleep a wink that night."
Jin Yan remained noncommittal, then looked at his son and said, "Look, your armor needs more than just scratches; it needs to be soaked in blood to become even more vibrant."
Seeing his son's constipated expression, he casually asked, "What do you think of Duan Jingyu?"
Jin Cheng curled his lip: "Courageous, but brainless. Just a greenhorn."
“He is only a year younger than you, yet he has already rallied his former officials to rush thousands of miles to rescue his father. He deserves our utmost respect,” Jin Yan said solemnly. “I don’t want to exaggerate, nor do I want to boost others’ morale while diminishing our own, and I certainly don’t want anyone to deceive themselves. The situation is critical, more dangerous than we imagine. You must be fully alert and make thorough preparations.”
Jin Cheng was speechless for a long time before finally nodding slightly.
Watching his son leave the main tent, Jin Yan said to his deputy, "Guan Hai, raising a son is much harder than fighting a war."
A smile appeared on Lin Guanhai's face. "Luckily, my wife gave birth to a daughter."
Jin Cheng was lectured by his father, so he went to the training ground and practiced shooting at the target. The more he practiced, the more frustrated he became, so he simply called over a few guards for close-quarters training.
The three men surrounded him. He feinted with his sword and attacked the tallest man, Fatty Tiger. Just as the sword was about to reach his face, he quickly turned around and kicked the shortest man, Dongzi, in the stomach. Dongzi fell to the ground with a thud.
Yu Qian's straight slash from the left was already upon him, but he parried with his sword, forcing him back from the side. Fatty Tiger attacked from the right, and Jin Cheng changed his footwork several times, breaking free from the encirclement of the two. The three of them were locked in a fierce battle.
Dongzi also got up from the ground and joined the melee. The four of them fought for half an hour, until each of them had been hit several times, rolled on the ground a few times, and were panting so much that they could no longer lift their heavy swords, before they all stopped.
The four found a flat spot and sat down on the ground. Jin Cheng asked the other three, "Have you ever killed anyone?"
All three of them were stunned. Fatty Tiger said, "I've killed chickens at home before. With a swift stroke, the chicken's neck is severed. If it manages to escape, it can fly all over the yard, leaving a trail of blood. It won't die until it's done running for half an hour. Then you boil water, pluck the feathers, chop it into pieces, and boil it in a pot for half an hour..."
The other three started cursing and swearing.
Yu Qian picked up the conversation, saying, "I have three brothers, and every year during the New Year, my father would take us to slaughter a pig." He tucked Fat Tiger's head under his arm. "First, we'd tie the pig up, then one person would hold its head in place, another would hold its body down to prevent it from struggling, and a third would hold a basin to collect the blood. My father would then wield his knife, and amidst a series of howls, all the blood would spray into the basin, steaming hot." He gestured with his hand as if making a knife shape on Fat Tiger's neck, and Fat Tiger struggled to free its head from under his arm.
"It's just slaughtering pigs, I go to watch it all the time during the New Year. Have you ever killed anyone?" Fat Tiger asked.
“I’ve killed,” Dongzi said.
The three of them were startled and turned to look at him.
“There are many children in my family, and even more girls. One year, my mother gave birth to another little sister, and my grandmother told me to take her to the back hill…”
The three men punched and kicked him.
The four sat on the ground, panting heavily.
Dongzi said, "The army is setting off tomorrow, and I saw Captain Guo going to the brothel again. He spends all his military pay on women. Hey, have you guys ever slept with women?"
Fat Tiger and Yu Qian both looked at Jin Cheng.
Jin Cheng smiled slightly, "The girls who like me could line up from Zhongzhimen to Xihuanmen."
"So, did you sleep with him or not?" the three of them asked in unison.
“There are also two concubines in the family,” Jin Cheng said proudly.
"What about the ones outside?" Dongzi asked. "Captain Guo also has a wife at home, but his favorite place to go is still the slug den. Is it because the women there are more exciting?"
Jin Cheng smacked his lips. "I don't know. If I dare to do anything reckless, my dad will break my legs."
"If I could keep a delicate little wife in a military tent, that would be absolutely wonderful..."
At this moment, the delighted Moon Sang-rye was packing his luggage with Sherry.
"Jiaojiao, the capital army will arrive tomorrow. Don't go out of the tent. Xu Liang will stay with you. The day after tomorrow, the army will head south. After about two days, we will reach Yingtian Prefecture. I will send Xu Liang to take you back to my home. My wife will take care of you. In a few days, whether you have your period or not, write to me. I will then make further arrangements based on the battle situation."
Sherry nodded obediently, but her heart was pounding with excitement. Leaving this camp might give her a chance to escape.
"Do I need to give my indenture to Madam?" Shirley couldn't help but ask.
Upon hearing this, Wen Xiangli glanced at her a few times, patted her shoulder, and said, "There's no need to give it to Madam. Keep it in my hands. If you get pregnant smoothly, I will make you my concubine. As long as you give birth to a child, regardless of whether it's a boy or a girl, I will give you the indenture to keep for yourself."
Sherry pretended to be overjoyed, buried her head on his shoulder, and said seriously, "Then I can pray to God that my period won't come in a few days."
In her heart, she silently prayed to all the gods and Buddhas that she wouldn't get pregnant. Giving birth at fifteen was indeed too dangerous; it could easily cost her her life. Besides, she was a woman herself, and women understood each other best. If she really went to your first wife's place while pregnant, she'd probably drown her. Although she wouldn't necessarily die, living under the same roof with her wouldn't end well either.
She wasn't one to be trifled with, and had been pestering him for a lot of benefits these days. She also had some silver and jewelry stored in her spatial storage, so she could survive even if she really escaped.
The next day arrived in the blink of an eye. Around three o'clock in the afternoon, the vanguard of the capital army finally arrived, and all the officials, big and small, rushed to greet the young master of the Jin family.
Sherry had been cooped up in the tent all day and was about to get sick. She couldn't help but peek out the door, but there was no one around. So she started exercising outside the tent.
She has been doing aerobic exercise every day to make her body stronger so that she can keep up with the stamina when running.
Suddenly, footsteps sounded behind her, and a pair of large, fan-like hands reached out from behind. A strong, pungent smell wafted from her, and she was pulled into a strong embrace. The hand that was holding her body even went so far as to grope her a few times.
A deep, excited voice rang in my ears: "Finally caught you. Little lady, let's have some fun together."
As she spoke, another person lifted Shirley's leg, and the three of them quickly entered an unfamiliar tent not far away.
This should be another military tent; it's messy inside and probably where junior soldiers lived.
The two men put her on a bed and began tearing at her clothes.
"Brother, don't rush!" Xue Li said softly.
The two men perked up, stopped what they were doing, and looked at her excitedly: "Brother was so worried! You have no idea how many days we've missed you."
Suppressing her discomfort, Shirley giggled and said, "Haste makes waste! This needs to be done slowly. You two sit down first, and I'll teach you."
The taller one quickly sat down, and the shorter one followed suit, but their hands lingered on her body, clearly afraid she would run away.
Sherry kissed each of them on the cheek. The warm, soft lips pressed against their faces, and their guard immediately relaxed by half. Unable to contain their excitement, their breathing became rapid.
She first untied their belts. As she did so, she spoke...
"Close your eyes and take it slow." She put her lips to the big guy's ear and breathed sweetly. The big guy felt his heart melt and couldn't help but obediently close his eyes. She then used the same method to coax the little guy, saying, "Brother, close your eyes too."
The little boy was so captivated by the word "brother" that he let out a soft "ah" and closed his eyes.
Seeing her chance, Sherry immediately turned and ran, head down and running fast. Her training over the past few days had been quite effective; she moved like a rabbit and ran out of the tent in just a few steps.
The two grown men had already unbuckled their belts, and their pants were hanging down to their ankles. By the time they pulled up their pants, cursing and swearing, the young woman had already vanished.
The two immediately gave chase.
She had never walked outside alone before; the most she'd done was fetch water from the nearby river to wash clothes. At this moment, she was completely disoriented, frantically running with all her might, without even the courage to shout. Should she cry out, "Help! Indecent assault!"
As Sherry ran, she suddenly found herself in someone's arms. He was tall and handsome, someone she had never seen before. She looked at him breathlessly, speechless, unsure of how to react.
Jin Cheng was suddenly bumped into, and almost thought it was an assassin about to draw his sword. But upon closer inspection, he realized it was a delicate young woman dressed as a man.
Her eyes were bright and her face was as beautiful as a peach blossom, but at this moment, her bright black eyes were filled with terror.
Jin Cheng glanced at her clothes and immediately guessed what was going on. This must be a woman kept in the military camp by some audacious and powerful minor leader.
This is a serious crime in the Tiger Head Army.
Wen Xiangli, who was behind him, and his uncle Wen Chengxiang, who was in charge, both had their expressions change drastically.
Cold sweat beaded on their foreheads as they racked their brains, trying to come up with a solution.
When Sherry looked back, the two brats behind her saw this and ran away from afar, disappearing faster than rabbits.
She quickly gave a military salute, bowed her head, and whispered a greeting to the high-ranking officials, "Greetings, sirs."
Jin Cheng had already seen the two fleeing soldiers and had guessed the situation accurately.
With a serious expression, he asked, "General Wen, what's going on?"
Wen Chengxiang stepped forward and replied, "Reporting to the military supervisor, General Jin is still waiting for us. The battle is of utmost importance. This trivial matter should be handled by Lieutenant Wen. He will certainly punish him severely."
Wen Xiangli also gave Jin Cheng a military salute: "Reporting to the military supervisor, I will investigate this matter thoroughly and give the military supervisor an explanation." After saying that, he winked at his subordinate, signaling him to take the person away.
Just as Wen Xiangli's men were about to take Xue Li away, Jin Cheng said slowly, "Now that she's been taken away, you can decide how to interrogate her. Men, take her to our place and lock her up first. After we finish our business, I'll interrogate her with the captain."
Wen Xiangli and his uncle exchanged a glance, both feeling uneasy, and were about to speak again to try and persuade him.
Jin Cheng waved his hand and said, "That's settled then. The general is waiting for us."
Shirley was taken away by Dongzi. She looked back at Wen Xiangli every few steps, but he didn't even raise his head.
Jin Cheng sneered and led his group away.
