She picked up the young prime minister while fleeing famine

Chapter 11 As long as the green hills remain

While waiting for the porridge to cool down, Banxia touched Lianchengmo's forehead again. It was still a little hot, but much better than when he had just fainted yesterday.

They called out to the person twice, but found that the person was still frowning and showed no sign of waking up.

Banxia sighed; it seemed she would have to feed him porridge later.

What Banxia didn't expect was that when she finished breakfast with the children and went to feed Lian Chengmo porridge, he opened his mouth and swallowed it by himself without much effort.

The silky smoothness made Banxia wonder if the person was already awake and was just pretending to be unconscious.

But when she looked at the Liancheng siblings who were so concerned about their older brother, she felt that Liancheng Mo was being really unnecessary.

After finishing her meal, Banxia put out the fire. There was only so much firewood, so she had to use it sparingly, not knowing how long the rain would last.

Seeing that the rain was still falling outside, Banxia moved a small portion of the stones at the entrance of the cave, then kept two less smelly clothes for the children to use at night, and washed the rest.

After a lot of fuss at the cave entrance, Banxia returned only when she felt she was almost clean.

The children were still helping to pick the unhulled millet grains; they were almost finished.

It was noon soon. For those fleeing famine, having even one meal a day was considered good, let alone three.

But Banxia still felt a surge of anger when she saw her two younger brothers, who were incredibly thin, and Lian Chengmo, who was injured.

If there's nothing to eat, so be it; now that there is food, I absolutely cannot let myself suffer.

If your health collapses, that would be a real problem, not to mention...

Banxia glanced at the millet she had picked out, which weighed about a pound. With these seeds, she could always grow more grain.

Taking advantage of the midday fire to partially dry the clothes she had just washed, Banxia immediately got to work.

These clothes are too big; they're too big for my two younger brothers, and even Chengmo can't wear them.

But there were no scissors available, so Banxia could only slowly cut with the large knife she used to chop people.

Fortunately, she was an orphan in her previous life, so she already had many skills, including making clothes.

In just one afternoon, Banxia altered two sets of clothes, avoiding the patched areas. Apart from some wear and tear on the fabric, the finished clothes looked brand new.

While cooking dinner, Banxia thoroughly dried the clothes in the oven. She then boiled some water and washed her two younger brothers, who then changed into their new clothes.

However, seeing the envious looks from Liancheng and his sister, Banxia smiled and picked up the little girl.

"If Shuang'er doesn't mind that my skills aren't great, I'll make one for you tomorrow," Banxia said half-jokingly.

"Shuang'er wants it, she doesn't mind." The little girl nodded immediately, like a chick pecking at rice.

"Thank you, Sister Banxia," Lian Chengyu quickly added, expressing her gratitude as well.

"You're welcome. Since you're about the same height as Changshan, I'll make one for you tomorrow too," Banxia said with a smile.

When they were taking off their clothes, they had already calculated the amount for Liancheng's siblings.

I'm just not sure if they want it or not, but it's okay if they don't, since it's family anyway.

Upon hearing this, Lian Chengyu expressed her gratitude once again, her eyes welling up with tears, almost bursting into tears.

In their efforts to save them, their parents and uncles had hidden their belongings somewhere, so Shuang'er naturally had no spare clothes.

Lian Chengyu was still young and hadn't thought about changing clothes, but when she saw that the Qi brothers had clothes to change into, she realized that the three of them hadn't changed their clothes in a long time.

Suddenly I felt really uncomfortable and wanted to change my clothes.

As for the craftsmanship Banxia mentioned, Liancheng Yu, though young, knew it wasn't as good as the clothes his family made for him. But now that they were willing to make them for him, he was already grateful. How could he possibly think of anything else?

After the children changed their clothes, they finally went to sleep.

Banxia wiped Lian Chengmo's hands and face with warm water again. Banxia looked at the dark sky outside the cave. She would have to go out tomorrow.

Putting aside the fact that Lian Chengmo's medicine is gone, there's also not much firewood left in the cave. Hopefully, the rain will stop tomorrow.

Before falling asleep, Banxia was thinking about this. Lian Chengmo's high fever had subsided, so Banxia only stayed up for half the night to make sure he wouldn't have a high fever again before sleeping next to him.

The sleeping Banxia didn't notice at all that Lian Chengmo, who was lying next to her, suddenly frowned, his whole body tensed up, and beads of sweat kept appearing on his forehead.

Lian Chengmo felt as if he were caught in a recurring dream, and at this moment he was fleeing through the mountains with a young man.

"My lord, I will go and hold them off, you must escape quickly."

"Be careful, you must stay alive, as long as you're alive, you'll survive!"

Lian Chengmo heard a steady voice come from his mouth, and then the young man in front of him clasped his hands in a fist salute and resolutely headed off in one direction.

He stood there for a moment, then clutched what was in his arms and resolutely fled in another direction.

Before Lian Chengmo could see clearly, the scene shifted again, and a deep cliff appeared in front of him, with a rock that he had accidentally mentioned falling off.

For a long time, there wasn't even the slightest sound of it hitting the ground...

next day

Banxia rolled over, sat up, and stretched.

Turning to look at the younger ones, Lian Chengyu was holding the little girl, who was sleeping soundly, while the two younger brothers of the Qi family were also hugging each other for warmth.

Banxia smiled slightly, got up to cover the children with their clothes, and then went to the makeshift stove to start a fire and cook.

When the children woke up, Banxia had already cooked the porridge. Seeing that they were awake, she invited them to come and eat.

Feeding Lian Chengmo today was still very smooth. After we finished and put out the fire together, Banxia continued altering clothes.

To everyone's delight, the rain started to subside around noon.

Banxia thought for a moment, then quickly altered a set of clothes for herself, planning to go out in the afternoon so that even if she got wet, she would have clothes to change into when she came back.

After lunch, Banxia repeatedly reminded the two older children, Qi Changshan and Lian Chengyu, to take good care of their younger siblings and not to let them run around. Only then did she carry an empty basket on her back and go out.

Feeling uneasy after leaving, Banxia blocked the cave back up.

It turned out that Banxia's actions were very useful.

Because it was too rushed that day, and it was too dark, Banxia didn't have time to check what the situation was like down the mountain when she was touching the corpse.

So today, as soon as Banxia came out of the cave, she picked a few large leaves, put them on her head, and went to the hillside where she and Lian Chengmo had ambushed each other last time, wanting to see what was going on below.

To her surprise, she was stunned.
