Chapter 106 Forbidden Forest
As darkness fell completely, Filch led five men out of the castle.
Along the way, Filch described to them the cruel methods he used to punish students in the past, speaking with great enthusiasm and expressing deep regret about the current system.
Harry was clearly in a bad mood. He could tell from Filch's cheerful tone that something bad was about to happen to them!
Hermione bit her lip tightly, and Angel could tell she was very nervous.
He thought she might be recalling what she had read about the Forbidden Forest in a book...
Oh no, they'll have to wait a while to find out what's going to happen tonight!
Neville looks even worse now; he keeps sniffling and looks like he could burst into tears at any moment.
Angor turned to look at Draco, who was in no better shape. Although he looked calm, he was also full of worry.
Finally, Filch handed them over to Hagrid.
Angel could sense that, in that instant, almost everyone except Neville relaxed.
After the incident with Nobo the dragon, Draco's attitude towards Hagrid changed somewhat... at least on the surface it appeared friendly.
Angel could sense that Draco still looked down on them.
He himself may not have realized this—just as most wizards subconsciously look down on Muggles.
He looked down on Hermione's background and still felt that the Weasleys had disgraced pure-blood families, not to mention Hagrid, who was a half-giant.
Although he considered these people as his friends, in his mind he was their leader.
According to Ingres's observations, that should be the case.
Even he himself was part of this network of relationships; in Draco's eyes, he was someone who needed his protection.
Angell found his mentality extremely interesting.
After exchanging a few words with Hagrid, Filch left angrily. He clearly didn't want to see the person who needed to be punished acting so happy, but he was truly helpless in the face of the current situation.
"Hagrid, are we really going to the Forbidden Forest?!"
"Filch is gone," Draco finally couldn't help but ask.
"Hmm...we need to go in and take a look. There have been a series of attacks on unicorns recently. If we don't figure out what's going on soon, things could get even worse!" Hagrid held up the kerosene lamp.
The big dog named Ya Ya followed beside him, wagging its tail constantly.
“But it’s dangerous there, we shouldn’t go in!” Draco retorted.
Hagrid glanced at him, just as Draco looked down on Hagrid. Hagrid didn't actually like Draco either, but they maintained a superficial politeness for the time being because of other people.
"Moreover, it was Mr. Dumbledore's order to investigate what happened in the Forbidden Forest. You are all wizards and you all have wands. If you encounter any danger, immediately send a magical signal into the sky, and I will rush to your rescue!"
Draco looked indignant.
“Let’s go!” Harry tugged at him, he couldn’t have been happier.
The group of six moved slowly. Apart from Draco, Hermione and Neville were not very enthusiastic. Even with Hagrid's presence, they were not really keen on entering the Forbidden Forest at night.
The deep night, like thick ink, enveloped the entire forest.
The ancient and towering trees are like silent, dark giants, their twisted branches stretching out wildly, as if trying to seize every intruder.
The faint moonlight struggled to filter through the layers of branches and leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground.
The air was thick with the damp, decaying scent of decay. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves, and the withered branches and leaves underfoot occasionally crackled with a chilling sound...
Angel felt someone grab his arm.
He turned his head and saw Draco's pale face.
He looked scared but stubbornly maintained his composure out of pride.
"Did you hear...? It sounds like there's a sound?"
Angel nodded and said softly, "We're not the only living things here, so it's normal to make noise!"
Draco's face turned even paler.
Angell felt that this was probably the weakest state he had ever been in.
They walked a little further on, and suddenly, Hagrid stopped.
"This is it. See that silver liquid? That's unicorn blood. We need to follow this blood trail to find the wounded unicorn..."
"The bloodstains are too scattered; I think we might need to separate."
Draco still gripped Angor's arm tightly, and Angor felt his palm was ice-cold.
"We need Ya Ya!" he said hastily.
Hagrid nodded. "Alright then... uh, Neville, do you want to go with Angor and the others, or with us?"
Neville chose to be with Hagrid without hesitation, and his relationship with Draco did not improve in the slightest.
Hagrid looked at Angor: "Be careful. Most magical creatures in the Forbidden Forest will not harm students. If you encounter danger, be sure to send a magical signal immediately!"
They left, leaving only Angor and Draco behind. Axe walked around them, becoming increasingly agitated without Hagrid.
A book with a black cover fell silently to the ground. Angell took a deep breath, looking tense but forced to cooperate.
"Let's go, I don't know when we'll finish this mission..."
Draco gripped his wand tightly as he walked slowly alongside Angor, both of them appearing to be merely going through the motions of the task.
After an unknown amount of time, Angel heard Draco say, "Dumbledore actually sent us to do something so dangerous! I must tell Dad about this!"
Angel pursed his lips, cooperating perfectly with his fearful expression, but remained silent throughout.
They walked forward a short distance, and the silvery bloodstains became more abundant. There also seemed to be sounds from other creatures around them.
Draco gripped Angor's arm even tighter, and Angor gasped quietly before finally letting him go.
“Draco, perhaps… I mean we’re not in danger yet.”
Draco turned to look at him, his teeth clenched tightly, his expression gradually contorting.
No wonder...
The moonlight occasionally struggled to cast a few weak rays, illuminating only a small area and making the surrounding darkness seem even deeper and more terrifying. The ancient trees around cast long, twisted shadows, like demonic claws reaching out from hell.
Angell turned and grasped his wrist: "I think... what you should be holding onto isn't my flesh, but your wand!"
He was now absolutely certain that, just as Harry was sent by fate to defeat Voldemort, Draco was sent by fate to harm him.
This kid has a strong grip...
