The original character Zhou Bijun was very well written, but since You Na was already cast in the role, the screenwriter took You Na's image into account when designing the character.

Now that Zhou Bijun has been replaced by her, Hu Xiaoxiao hopes that Yao Wenlong can refer to her image when designing the character and handling the plot.

This is the main reason why Hu Xiaoxiao came to find Yao Wenlong.

Yao Wenlong thought for a moment and then explained the preliminary design: "Because one person will be playing two roles, the identities will be based on the currently popular twin trope. Lan Xinya and Zhou Bijun are sisters. The background is that their parents were killed when they were young, and they were separated due to the war. One was adopted by the chief镖头 (chief镖头 is a term used in the Chinese martial arts world) and the other was captured by an assassin organization. That's all for now."

Yao Wenlong is still figuring out what will happen next.

Upon hearing that the script hadn't been finalized yet, Hu Xiaoxiao discussed the role with Yao Wenlong, adding her own ideas. She also sought Yao Wenlong's opinion, since he was the professional.

Yao Wenlong also wants his works to be loved, brought to life, and appreciated by the audience. There were several screenwriters for "The Grandmaster," and if his character is better than the others, he will naturally feel a greater sense of accomplishment, which will also benefit him in taking on major roles in big productions in the future.

Although Yao Wenlong seemed dull and a bit slow to react, as a scholar, he possessed a certain arrogance and a competitive spirit.

He listened to Hu Xiaoxiao's suggestions and found some parts quite good, which gave him a lot of inspiration. In addition, Hu Xiaoxiao's performance as Chang Sisi was good, and she was very respectful to him, which made him feel good about her. So, he shared some of his ideas with Hu Xiaoxiao.

After hearing this, Hu Xiaoxiao tried to persuade Yao Wenlong to abandon plot points that were unfavorable to her, and to focus more on plot points that were beneficial to her performance and could showcase the character's strengths.

The two chatted for nearly two hours. When Hu Xiaoxiao left, she repeatedly told Yao Wenlong to let her know as soon as the script was finished.

Yao Wenlong readily agreed and went back to work overtime to write the script. After the script was finished, he immediately made a copy for Hu Xiaoxiao before even giving it to the director.

After receiving the script, Hu Xiaoxiao first skimmed through it to make sure there were no problems, and then began to study the script and how to act out each scene.

At home, Hu Xiaoxiao spends every day in front of the camera, constantly honing her acting skills, figuring out how to act in this scene, what expression to make, what emotions to convey, and how to act in that scene.

There were some parts that she felt were difficult to act, and she couldn't express what she wanted to convey, so she circled the key points with a pen, and then took fish maw and bird's nest to ask Teacher Xia Qing for advice.

Teacher Xia Qing also took it to heart, teaching everything from the emotional performance of the whole play to how to handle the smallest details.

Lan Xinya's role seemed easy to play, but Hu Xiaoxiao played two roles. In order to show the different personalities of the two characters, she and Xia Qing discussed and studied the role repeatedly before deciding how to act it.

The production team for "The Grandmaster" started filming very soon.

Charlie took the first day of filming very seriously and came to the set personally to supervise.

The first few scenes performed were about Ren Shaohua and Lan Xinya, who were childhood sweethearts and in love.

"Action!"

Under the pear tree in the dilapidated courtyard, a handsome young man practiced his boxing with great vigor, his clothes soaked with sweat. After finishing one round, the young man stopped, pondering the moves he had just peeked at. He imitated them a few times, and once he got the hang of it, he resumed his powerful and vigorous practice.

The peeling paint on the wooden door creaked open, and a pair of embroidered shoes with pear blossoms stepped across the threshold first, followed by a white dress, her slender waist cinched with a jade belt, so delicate it could be grasped in one hand.

The young woman, with a graceful figure like a willow swaying in the breeze, moved lightly into the courtyard, revealing her incomparably beautiful face. She carried a tray with a bowl piled high with rice. Seeing the young man, she smiled gently, "Brother Shaohua!"

Ren Shaohua stopped practicing his boxing when he saw the girl, and rushed over in a few quick steps. His handsome face was full of joy. "Xinya, what brings you here?"

Lan Xinya lowered her head shyly, "I brought you your food."

"I've already eaten, you don't need to worry about me." Ren Shaohua's stomach rumbled as soon as he finished speaking.

Lan Xinya heard this and chuckled softly, covering her mouth with her sleeve.

She brought the food to the stone table under the pear tree, sat on the stone bench, beckoned Ren Shaohua over, and whispered, "Eat it while it's hot. I saved you a big chicken leg for the rice."

Ren Shaohua sat down next to him and asked, "Did you kill a chicken?"

Lan Xinya nodded, picked up her chopsticks, scraped aside the rice to reveal a large chicken leg, handed the chopsticks to Ren Shaohua, and looked at him gently, "Eat up."

Ren Shaohua rubbed his rumbling stomach, scratched his head somewhat embarrassedly, and then picked up his chopsticks and shoveled large mouthfuls of rice into his mouth.

Lan Xinya rested her elbows on the table, her hands supporting her chin, watching his every move with a smile, her gentle eyes filled with his image.

While eating, Ren Shaohua would occasionally look up at Lan Xinya and give an embarrassed smile.

Under the pear tree, the love between young men and women is like the pear blossoms falling silently in the wind, covering the ground and filling the courtyard with fragrance.

Men are always rough when it comes to work. Lan Xinya saw Ren Shaohua casually rub the clothes, wring them out, and hang them up, and couldn't help but shake her head. "How can you be so careless?"

Ren Shaohua said nonchalantly, "Anyway, you'll still have to wear it after it dries, and you'll still sweat while wearing it, so it's all the same."

Lan Xinya couldn't bear to watch any longer, so she took his clothes, poured water again, and carefully rubbed them.

While drying his clothes, we discovered that they had several holes in them.

So, in the evening, she came over, took his clothes back to her room, and began mending them by candlelight.

The father saw this at the door and asked, "It's so late, who are you mending clothes for?"

Lan Xinya hurriedly put it away and said, "No, this is, this is your clothes. I noticed a tear and wanted to mend it for you."

"I don't have such tattered clothes." The father shook his head in disappointment, put his hands behind his back, and walked away, sighing, "A daughter is no longer meant to be kept at home."

Lan Xinya blushed, and before she knew it, her finger was pricked by a needle hanging on her clothes, and a drop of bright red blood fell onto his clothes.

When Lan Xinya returned the clothes to Ren Shaohua, Ren Shaohua suddenly pulled a silver hairpin from his pocket, handed it to Lan Xinya, and looked at her expectantly with bright eyes, saying, "Xinya, here! I bought it for you. Do you like it?"

"Where did you get the money?" Lan Xinya asked in surprise.

Ren Shaohua's handsome lips curled up slightly, and his eyes seemed to be bursting with fireworks. "I just got paid, and when I saw this hairpin, I thought it was pretty, so I bought it. Here you go."
