Wearing a casual suit, John looked refined and handsome, exuding the air of a British gentleman.

He arrived at the set early, walking through the bookstore and immersing himself in the world described in the script. This scene is crucial in "The Magic Contract," depicting the first meeting and mutual admiration between the male and female leads. It is precisely this mutual appreciation that leads to their later shared struggles and triumphs.

In the play, he is attracted to the female lead's special and unique temperament, unlike any woman he has ever seen before. The script says that what attracts him is the temperament of an Eastern woman.

This mysterious aura left John struggling to find inspiration for his performance. Heaven knows what this "mysterious Eastern aura" was; he'd never seen anything so strange before. John couldn't immerse himself in the role—something he'd never seen before and couldn't even imagine. He figured the screenwriter must have just made it up.

But the screenwriter was a top screenwriter at Hamlet's Company, so he dared not question the screenwriter's professionalism and could only find his own way to get into character.

John rubbed his forehead and unconsciously walked to a bookshelf about Eastern culture. He randomly picked up a book, trying to find some inspiration.

His ability to be heavily promoted by Hamlet Films was not only due to his excellent image and temperament, but also to his professional attitude, which was appreciated by the executives. Even though it was a special effects film that relied heavily on post-production, he treated every scene seriously and tried his best to perform perfectly.

John leaned against the bookshelf and flipped through the book in his hand. The content was too difficult, and he couldn't understand many of the unfamiliar technical terms. John closed the book, saw that the cover indicated it was a professional book, and could only helplessly put it back and choose another one.

“John,” Emily walked over and asked, “Are you upset? Are you angry that the lead actress hasn’t arrived on set so late?”

John looked up at Emily, who was dressed particularly sexily today, in a low-cut, high-slit long dress that accentuated her already voluptuous figure, making her even more captivating.

Her wheat-colored skin had a touch of wildness, a high nose bridge, full lips, and a warm and charming smile.

“Emily, didn’t you have a scene to film today?” John was surprised to see Emily on set.

Emily leaned against the bookshelf next to John, arms crossed, and said, "It's been a month since filming for 'The Magic Contract' started, but the female lead is still nowhere to be seen. I'm very curious about her, so I came to take a look. The male lead has arrived, and the costumes are all done, but the female lead is still nowhere to be seen. It seems that this actress from Baogang is very arrogant."

John glanced at his watch and said, "There's still a long time before work starts. I'm just here to get a feel for things."

“John, you don’t need to cover for her or speak up for her anymore. This actress is just an arrogant and rude person.” Emily made a disdainful expression. “Don’t forget that her salary is several times higher than yours as the male lead. You came early to get into character, but she arrived right on time. Is she confident in her acting skills, or does she look down on you? Aren’t you worried that you’ll keep having to do retakes when you’re acting with her, which will slow down the process?”

John, who had worked his way up from the bottom as an extra, noticed Emily's dissatisfaction but didn't follow her lead. He simply said, "Regarding the salary, you'll have to talk to Director Philip. He's also the producer of this film, so he's the one who decides."

After saying that, he lowered his head and flipped through the book in his hand, showing no intention of continuing to pay attention to Emily.

Seeing that she couldn't get anything out of John, Emily went to talk to the other staff members. The staff were happy to joke and laugh with the sexy and beautiful Emily.

The conversation inevitably turned to Hu Xiaoxiao.

The crew members were mostly white, and they already felt superior to Asians. Under Emily's influence, they developed displeasure towards Hu Xiaoxiao, who had not yet arrived.

"Robert, I think this outfit looks amazing. Thank you for choosing it for me. It suits my character perfectly."

In film, costumes are designed by the costume designer for important scenes, while costumes for scenes with only one or two shots are selected with the help of the costume supervisor.

Costume designer Robert looked up and saw that Emily was wearing the costume for the scene they were going to shoot that evening. "Oh, Emily, why are you wearing your costume so early?"

"Because I love your taste so much. After this scene is finished, we can seamlessly move on to the next set tonight. Robert, your eye for detail is so good, but the actress doesn't seem to like the clothes you picked out for her."

“Oh, they have clothing brand sponsors, they don’t need me,” Robert said sourly.

"I heard it's because she didn't like the clothes you chose, so she sought brand sponsorship."

"There's nothing I can do; she's not even satisfied with the costumes the designer specially designed for her."

After chatting with the costume designer for a while, Emily walked over to the makeup and hair director, Andrew. Seeing Andrew sitting casually to the side, she smiled and said, "Andrew, are you so relaxed because the lead actress doesn't need you? I heard she has her own makeup artist and doesn't need you."

Andrew took a sip of coffee and said, "I don't know about that. My main job is character design and special effects makeup. When you enter the secret realm, that's when I'm busiest."

He designed and was responsible for all the special effects makeup for the various demons and monsters.

"But you're here today, obviously because you're in charge of the female lead's styling for this scene. I think you're going to be disappointed; they clearly don't need you..."

When director Edward arrived on set, he saw the crew members discussing the female lead, Hu Xiaoxiao, in small groups. They were all dissatisfied and angry with Hu Xiaoxiao and had agreed to isolate her.

Edward angrily retorted, "What are you doing? Why are you isolating Hu?"

One staff member said dismissively, "She's Asian, are we supposed to respect her?"

It's commonplace in Hollywood to look down on people of other continents and skin colors, especially since this Asian man was so disrespectful. The staff, however, couldn't understand why Edward was angry; hadn't this happened all along?

Edward warned them, "She's not an ordinary Asian, nor is she an ordinary actress. She's the BOSS! BOSS Hu! If you don't want to be fired, you'd better put away your restless hearts and your contemptuous attitude!"

"BOSS Hu?" Emily looked surprised.

“Yes!” Edward said, “Whether this movie can achieve great success in Asia depends on Boss Hu’s mood. Emily, you’d better be sensible.”

Emily usually acts like she's all looks and no brains, but she's not stupid. If it really is a very important boss, she'll probably have to swallow the grudge of almost being forced to wear an ugly costume. Previously, because her costume was prettier than the lead actress's, the company almost had to find some dowdy costumes for her to wear in order to appease the lead actress. Luckily, they later found a high-end luxury brand to sponsor them. However, of all the beautiful clothes sponsored by the luxury brand, not a single one was for her…

Emily was naturally unhappy.

Emily narrowed her eyes unhappily, but then she saw several black cars parked outside the bookstore, one of which was a super luxury car—a stretched Lincoln.
