Su Qingya pulled Chang Jingxiang aside and started chatting about this and that. Although Chang Jingxiang was listening, he was thinking about his own things.

When Su Qingya hugged him just now, his first reaction was to push her away, and he was thinking about whether Lin Yue would be angry.

Every time Lin Yue hugged him, he felt both happy and excited, and itchy and restless, wishing he could hold Lin Yue tightly and meld her into his own body.

At that moment, it dawned on him that this was what it felt like to like someone. He liked Lin Yue's embrace, he liked the intimate contact with Lin Yue, and he even felt a certain craving for her.

That night in the cave kept replaying in his mind. Every night he wanted to get close to Lin Yue, but he was afraid that she would not agree, so he could only secretly hug and kiss her after she fell asleep, and dared not do anything excessive.

Fortunately, Lin Yue was a sound sleeper and never noticed. Once, a mark was accidentally left on her neck, which Lin Yue thought was a mosquito bite.

Thinking about all this made Chang Jingxiang feel hot all over, and he felt angry but couldn't vent it, which made him feel quite uncomfortable.

He was so eager to see Lin Yue that he didn't hear a single word Su Qingya said.

Just as Su Qingya was getting into her story, he suddenly stood up and said, "You sit down first, I'll go check if the food is ready."

Su Qingya was stunned for a few seconds. She felt that Chang Jingxiang was different from before. He was always absent-minded and seemed very restless.

She didn't make eye contact with me when she spoke, and I wondered what she was thinking. She must be upset about life here. She'll be fine after we go to the capital.

Little did she know that Chang Jingxiang simply wanted to cuddle and hug his wife, and was just feeling restless because he couldn't get his wish.

When Chang Jingxiang entered the kitchen, Lin Yue was still staring blankly at the charcoal fire. He gently approached her, inhaling her scent, and his heart gradually calmed down.

Lin Yue looked at the steaming pot, suddenly stood up, and bumped her head on Chang Jingxiang's chin, the pain bringing tears to her eyes.

Before she could even rub the sore spot, she hurriedly picked up the steamer, saying, "Thank goodness, the rice isn't burnt."

Chang Jingxiang took the steamer and placed it on the dining table. He then turned around and gently rubbed Lin Yue's head with concern in his eyes. "Did you hurt yourself?"

Lin Yue stared blankly at Chang Jingxiang, thinking that he would keep his distance from her now that Su Qingya was here.

Seeing her dazed look and the tears still clinging to the corners of her reddened eyes, Chang Jingxiang felt incredibly soft-hearted and gently wiped away her tears with his fingers.

"Does it hurt a lot? Should I put some medicine on it?" His voice was so gentle it could melt your heart, completely captivating Lin Yue.

Lin Yue nodded, then shook her head, but a cough at the door brought her back to her senses.

"What happened? Do you need my help?" Su Qingya squeezed in, separating Chang Jingxiang and Lin Yue.

Her fingernails were almost piercing her palms, but she still had a kind and understanding smile on her face.

This was a real slap in the face; she had never seen Chang Jingxiang's gentle gaze and actions before.

Lin Yue brought the food to the table, set out the chopsticks, and said with a smile, "It's ready, you can eat now. It's simple food, I wonder if Miss Su can get used to it?"

"I'm not picky, thank you for your hard work." Su Qingya's smile remained bright; she was determined to maintain this understanding attitude.

She originally intended to just have a taste, a few bites, but the food was surprisingly delicious, even better than her family's chef's. The simple dishes were all a feast for the eyes, nose, and palate.

Su Qingya's heart skipped a beat again. The old folks always say that if you want to win a man's heart, you have to win his stomach first.

Seeing Chang Jingxiang eating with relish, she realized she had won him over with her stomach. Her chances of winning had diminished, and she had to act decisively.

The three of them ate their meal with their own thoughts on them. Lin Yue went to Chang's parents' room to tidy up and prepared new bedding for Su Qingya so that she could rest early.

Su Qingya lingered in Chang Jingxiang's room, stammering that she had just arrived and wasn't used to the quiet night, and was a little scared.

Lin Yue realized that she wanted to sleep in the same room as Chang Jingxiang. Just as she was hesitating whether she should leave, Chang Jingxiang picked up his bedding and said, "Then let Xiaoyue sleep in this room with you. I'll go to the other room. Xiaoyue isn't used to sleeping in that room."

Upon hearing his words, alarm bells rang in Su Qingya's mind. Xiaoyue, Xiaoyue, he called her so affectionately, while he always called her by her full name.

Lin Yue thought to herself, "The girl has made it so obvious, Chang Jingxiang is really a blockhead."

Watching Chang Jingxiang walk away, Lin Yue shook her head helplessly and followed him to get the bedding prepared for Su Qingya.

Su Qingya was left alone, secretly heartbroken. This was completely different from what she had imagined before she came, and a heavy sense of crisis weighed on her heart.

Chang Jingxiang laid out his own bedding and then tidied up the new bedding and placed it by the kang (a heated brick bed), waiting for Lin Yue to come in and get it.

Lin Yue composed herself in the courtyard and slowly walked in. Chang Jingxiang's eyes lit up immediately. As she reached for the bedding, he grabbed her arm and pulled her to his side.

To Lin Yue's surprise, he pulled her into his arms and gently rubbed her head, asking, "Does the place where you bumped your head still hurt?"

His actions were extremely natural. After all, she was his wife, and he wasn't taking advantage of her. If Su Qingya hadn't been there, he definitely wouldn't have just given her a hug today.

Lin Yue snapped out of her daze and reached out to push him. Chang Jingxiang's eyes dimmed, and he said with a wronged expression, "My chin hurts."

Lin Yue looked at his slightly stubbled chin, which was indeed red, and without thinking, she reached out and rubbed it, then bent down and blew on it.

Chang Jingxiang felt the anger he had suppressed earlier surge up again. In a flash, Chang Jingxiang suddenly pulled her into his arms and kissed Lin Yue's red lips, his movements somewhat rough.

Lin Yue stared wide-eyed, frozen in place, fixed on the handsome face so close to hers, with thick eyebrows, large eyes, and eyelashes that were clearly visible.

Su Qingya, who was in another room, couldn't wait any longer and shouted loudly, which startled Lin Yue back to her senses. She blushed and withdrew from Chang Jingxiang's embrace.

Lin Yue grabbed her bedding and ran off. Chang Jingxiang watched her retreating figure, a smile playing on his lips, before lying down to sleep contentedly.

Lin Yue took a deep breath outside the door to calm her racing heart. Once she felt the blush on her face fade, she casually walked into the room with her bedding.

Chang Jingxiang's sudden unusual behavior—was he too excited to see his girlfriend? He must have kissed the wrong person, though.

Lin Yue cursed him several times in her heart.

Su Qingya looked at her with a resentful gaze, but thanked her politely, "Thank you for your trouble. I will return to the capital with Jingxiang as soon as possible. Otherwise, I would feel bad for troubling you so much."

"You're a young woman, and you'll eventually remarry. Living under the same roof without a clear separation isn't a problem for Jingxiang, but I'm worried it might damage your reputation."
