Wang Wei later learned that there really was a whistleblower letter, and the regimental commander was currently searching for the handwriting, but had not yet found the person who wrote it.

Later that evening, he went to the Chang family to find Chang Jinxiang. He was curious about how things had developed, but he couldn't ask the regimental commander directly, or he would definitely be criticized.

The Chang family had already eaten dinner. When they saw him arrive, the servants prepared some more dishes to go with their drinks. Chang Jinxiang wanted to have a good drink with him.

"Brother Xiang, what's the story behind the whistleblower letter?" Wang Wei asked casually after taking a sip of wine, his face flushed.

Chang Jinxiang also drank a glass of wine in frustration, feeling resentful as he thought about what had happened today.

"The regimental commander said he received a letter of complaint, saying that my wife used dirty tricks to force me to get married, and that the marriage should not be counted."

I find it really strange. Who I marry is none of anyone else's business. My parents have already agreed, yet there are still unrelated people who are objecting.

"Who has nothing better to do than make a fuss about my family's affairs? If they're so capable, they should come at me directly. All they know is how to bully Xiaoyue."

This was the first time Wang Wei had heard Chang Jinxiang complain so seriously; usually, Chang Jinxiang had an "I don't care" expression.

Wang Wei laughed for a long time, "I never thought you'd end up like this. I thought nothing could affect you."

Chang Jinxiang wasn't angry when he heard this. After thinking for a few seconds, he said, "Things are different now. I have someone I need to protect. You'll understand when you get married. Nothing is more important than her."

Wang Wei suddenly felt excited about getting married and thought he would ask someone to introduce him to someone tomorrow. Maybe he could really meet someone suitable. He didn't want to be a lonely man anymore, only able to envy others every day.

He also longs for a warm home with his wife and children, and for a sense of purpose in life in addition to contributing to the country.

Most people wouldn't understand that these people who have dedicated their lives to the country also yearn for a small home of their own in peacetime.

Wang Wei has always disliked people who do bad things behind people's backs. He believes that if someone has the ability, they should fight openly. If they win, they are heroes; if they lose, they are not cowards.

He said sheepishly, "Do I even need to guess who it is? How many people are truly focused on getting you to get a divorce?"

"I never expected her to go this far." Chang Jingxiang knew who he was talking about, but he still couldn't believe it.

Thinking of Su Qingya, whom he had seen today, Wang Wei couldn't help but shudder again. He said earnestly, "You can know a person's face but not their heart. Some people pretend to be pure and innocent, but who knows how dark their hearts are."

He took a sip of wine and continued, "But you can't entirely blame her. Everyone in the compound knows she likes you, she's liked you since she was a child. Even when you were sent to the countryside, she waited for you. She was deeply in love with you. It's normal that she can't accept that you married someone else."

He really guessed right. Su Qingya would never give up easily. She was furious that the report letter had no effect.

She smashed things in the room, crying and cursing, "It was written so clearly in the letter, why doesn't the commander deal with them? Has he been bribed too?"

Su's father and mother rushed over upon hearing the noise. "What are you doing, child?"

With tears in her eyes, Su Qingya said, "I went around asking around in the military, but nobody knew anything about the whistleblower letter. It's like the letter has sunk to the bottom of the ocean."

Su's father's eyes darkened, revealing resentment and anger. "Who knows what happened? He just suppressed the things and didn't punish Chang Jinxiang. Instead, he's looking for the person who wrote the whistleblower letter."

The letter was written by Su Qingya herself. In order to make it vivid and accurate, she did not change a single stroke. If there is a handwriting comparison, it will be easy to find her.

She looked at her father anxiously, "Dad, what do we do now?"

Seeing his daughter's heartbroken expression, Su Jianguo felt a lump in his throat. "What are you afraid of? What you said is true. At worst, we'll confront her face to face."

Su Qingya's eyes lit up, as if she had grasped at the last straw. "Yes, confront him face to face. I don't believe the commander will still favor him."

The next day, before the regimental commander could even find out who wrote the whistleblower letter, someone came directly to him.

The regimental commander looked at Su Qingya and said in a deep voice, "You said you wrote the whistleblower letter?"

Su Qingya had prepared to play the victim before she arrived, and her eyes were already brimming with tears, making anyone who saw her think that she had been wronged.

She took out a stack of letters from her bag, all of which were written to her by Chang Jinxiang. “Commander, I think you’ve heard that Jingxiang and I grew up together, childhood sweethearts. We were engaged long ago, and we’ve kept in touch through letters even after he was sent to the countryside.”

As she spoke, tears welled up in her eyes, and her voice became increasingly choked with sobs. "He told me to wait for him, that he would come back and marry me. I believed him. Others introduced me to potential partners, but I never met any of them. I waited until now, and he actually abandoned me after starting something."

The regimental commander's face grew increasingly grim, which was different from what Chang Jinxiang had said yesterday.

Su Qingya glanced at the commander secretly, bit her lip, and said, "Commander, I know you're busy, but I really have no other choice but to ask you for help."

I went to the countryside to find Jingxiang. He said that Lin Yue drugged him and he couldn't control himself, which is why he made a mistake. That woman forced him to get married.

He had said that they would get a divorce and that he would come back to marry me, so I stayed in his room for one night.

I waited with great anticipation, but this is the result. How can I possibly live with myself now?

The regimental commander was furious. "Outrageous! How can a young woman stay overnight in a house when they are already married? This Chang Jinxiang is outrageous! Go and fetch Chang Jinxiang."

Upon receiving orders, the guard went directly to the Chang family's residence. When he knocked on the door, the servants politely invited him in.

"No need, I came to see Company Commander Chang. The regimental commander asked him to go to the unit."

Chang Jinxiang and Wang Wei drank until very late last night, so they are still sleeping in the room. Wang Wei is also sleeping in the guest room.

The maid went to the room to call for someone. Chang Jinxiang told the guard that he would be there soon. The guard then went back to his unit. Before leaving, the guard gave Chang Jinxiang a complicated look, as if he wanted to say something but hesitated.

Chang Jinxiang didn't ask any more questions. He probably guessed why. He didn't say anything to Lin Yue either. After changing into his military commander's uniform and getting ready, he went to the army.

Lin Yue woke up early and wanted to get up, but Chang Jinxiang pulled her to sleep with him. After Chang Jinxiang left, she sat on the bed and read a book.

Both of Chang's parents went out, leaving only her and the maid at home.

Seeing an opportunity, Su's mother came to the Chang family. Lin Yue knew she wasn't a good person and didn't want to talk to her, but then she heard her say, "You can still read books so leisurely. Do you know that Jingxiang is going to be punished because of you?"
