Early the next morning.

Xu Qingyi opened her eyes, waking up on her own without an alarm clock for the first time.

I picked up my phone from the bedside table and checked the time: six in the morning.

Xu Qingyi, who had gotten up early but found it difficult to go back to sleep, still got out of bed and started washing up.

Then they dawdled until an hour before their flight took off before finally leaving to catch their train.

Xu Qingyi rushed to the airport, grabbed her small suitcase, and boarded the plane just in time for check-in.

Before leaving in the morning, I hesitated whether to call my mother to let her know, but I still didn't dial the familiar number.

She thought, "Let's wait until we get there."

Time passed quickly, and the plane arrived on time.

Standing on familiar ground, Xu Qingyi couldn't quite describe how she felt.

The familiar neighborhood, the familiar security guard, everything familiar—it's only been a few months since I last went home, but it feels like a lifetime ago.

"Qingqing? You're back?" The kind gatekeeper squinted and recognized her.

He was still holding that old thermos, with a beaming smile on his face.

Xu Qingyi smiled and replied, "Yes, Uncle Li, it's been a long time. You look even younger!"

The old man laughed heartily, giving me a "don't try to fool me" look. "No, no, it's just that your aunt has been bringing me nourishing soup every day lately, and it's made my nose bleed."

He subtly showed off their affection, then casually said, "Your mother has been worried lately that you're not doing well out there, afraid that you'll only tell her good news and not bad. It's good for her to be at ease now that you're back."

"Oh, by the way, your uncle is also trying to find you a good job through connections," the old man casually mentioned.

Xu Qingyi pursed her lips and whispered that she was doing quite well.

The old man nodded with a smile, saying that it was good.

Xu Qingyi thanked him for his concern and started walking towards the familiar residential building.

The elevator numbers kept changing and soon stopped at a familiar number.

She stepped outside and stood in front of her house, trying to take out her key to open the door. After rummaging through her bag for a while, she realized that she had probably forgotten to bring it.

My mood instantly plummeted.

Xu Qingyi couldn't help but squat down, leaning against the wall, lost in thought.

After squatting for five or six minutes, a pair of leather shoes stopped next to Xu Qingyi.

A surprised voice rang out, "Qingqing?"

Xu Qingyi raised her head blankly, and after seeing who it was, she softly called out "Uncle".

Good morning, Uncle.

"Good morning." The man, whose face was weathered but still handsome, took out his keys to open the door and asked, "Forgot your keys? Why didn't you knock? Your mother is home."

She didn't even know what she was thinking.

Xu Qingyi had no choice but to come up with a lame excuse to get by.

The man could tell that she didn't want to answer, so he stopped asking.

As soon as the door opened, he smiled gently and said softly to the woman in the living room who was applying a face mask, "Yunyun, look who's back?"

As the woman applied a face mask to her face, she casually asked, "Who is it?"

She subconsciously turned her head to look at the doorway.

The face mask fell to the floor with a thud.

The woman rushed over and hugged Xu Qingyi, cupping her face and looking at her from left to right.

"Qingqing, my darling Qingqing, you look so thin."

Even though I've gained three pounds since I was at home, a smile involuntarily crept onto my face.

She hugged her mother back, nuzzling her cheek affectionately against her mother's neck, "Mom, I missed you so much."

I miss you so, so much.

(Hehe, I'm back! I was working overtime like crazy before, but updates should be more consistent now! *bows*)
