Rebirth of Jinxuan

Chapter 2 Amazing Hearing of Miraculous Healing

Lu Jinxuan's heart tightened, and the gray fragments of memory seemed to surge even more violently with the sound of footsteps, making her feel dizzy. She subconsciously gripped the sheets beneath her, trying to open her eyes to see who it was, but worried that her current weakness would be discovered, so she could only keep her eyes tightly closed, pretending to still be unconscious.

"Doctor, please take a look, how is she?" A deep voice sounded in her ear, filled with obvious anxiety and worry. Lu Jinxuan's heart skipped a beat. This voice... although somewhat unfamiliar, inexplicably gave her a sense of reassurance.

"Hunter Mo, don't be in a hurry, let this old man take a look." The old voice was unhurried, followed by light footsteps approaching. A warm, dry finger was placed on Lu Jinxuan's wrist, carefully checking her pulse.

Lu Jinxuan held her breath, afraid to move, lest the fact that she had awakened be discovered. She felt the hand linger on her wrist for a long time, so long that she almost thought she was about to give herself away, before she finally heard the doctor's surprised voice: "How strange..."

Hunter Mo hurriedly asked, "Doctor, what's wrong? Is it the child's mother...?"

“Hunter Mo, you don’t understand,” the doctor stroked his beard, his tone tinged with disbelief, “this lady was so badly injured before; logically speaking, she absolutely wouldn’t have woken up in less than ten days or half a month. But now, her pulse is steady and strong, her breathing is even, clearly she’s out of danger, even…”

The doctor paused, seemingly choosing his words carefully, before continuing, "In fact, her recovery is much faster than that of ordinary people! It's simply unheard of!"

Hunter Mo was overjoyed, his voice trembling slightly: "Doctor, do you mean... she'll get better soon?"

The doctor didn't answer directly. Instead, he removed his fingers from Lu Jinxuan's wrist, carefully examined her complexion and tongue coating, and finally said slowly, "We'll have to wait until she wakes up to know for sure, but..." He paused, his gaze intentionally or unintentionally sweeping over Lu Jinxuan's slightly trembling eyelids, a meaningful smile playing on his lips, "In all my years of medical practice, I've never seen such a miraculous medical case..."

Lu Jinxuan felt the doctor's gaze fall on her, and alarm bells went off in her head. She tried her best to control her breathing and heartbeat, not daring to relax even for a moment. Only when she heard the doctor and Hunter Mo's footsteps gradually fade into the distance did she finally dare to breathe a slight sigh of relief.

"Mother..." Just then, a little boy's timid voice suddenly reached her ears. Lu Jinxuan opened her eyes abruptly and met a pair of clear, deep eyes. Looking at the little boy before her, he appeared to be about five or six years old, dressed in faded coarse cloth clothes, yet his handsome features were still evident. His large, dark eyes were filled with worry and concern, his small brows furrowed tightly, making her want to reach out and smooth them.

"Mom, you're finally awake! How are you feeling? Is there anything else that's bothering you?" When the little boy saw Lu Jinxuan wake up, his previously timid tone was suddenly filled with joy. He reached out his little hand and carefully grasped Lu Jinxuan's fingers, as if afraid that she would suddenly disappear.

Lu Jinxuan felt the warmth of the hand on her skin, and a strange emotion welled up inside her, like maternal love, or a deep connection from the depths of her soul. She opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but found that she couldn't make a sound, and could only respond to the little boy's concern with her eyes.

Just then, the door was pushed open, and Mo Chenfan and the old doctor reappeared in the doorway.

"Honey, you're awake?!" Mo Chenfan's face lit up with joy when he saw Lu Jinxuan wake up. He rushed to the bedside and asked anxiously, "How are you feeling? Is there anything else that's bothering you? Doctor, please come and take a look at her!"

The old doctor quickly walked to the bedside and took Lu Jinxuan's pulse again. This time, Lu Jinxuan did not pretend to be asleep, but let the old doctor take her pulse. However, her gaze never left the little boy beside her, her eyes filled with inquiry and doubt.

After taking the pulse, the old doctor's face was full of disbelief. He muttered to himself, "How is this possible... this pulse..."

"Doctor, how is she? The child's mother..." Mo Chenfan asked anxiously, wishing he could take all of Lu Jinxuan's pain upon himself.

The old doctor didn't answer his question. Instead, he turned to the little boy and asked, "Child, did your mother suffer any injuries before? For example... a head injury?"

The little boy paused, as if trying to recall something. After a moment, he looked up, his eyes filled with confusion and fear, and said, "I...I don't remember. I only remember that my mother took me up the mountain to gather herbs that day, and then...and then we fell off the cliff..."

As the little boy spoke, his voice choked with emotion, and tears welled up in his eyes. Lu Jinxuan felt a pang of pain in her heart and instinctively pulled the little boy into her arms, gently patting his back to comfort him silently.

Upon hearing the little boy's words, the old doctor's eyes flashed with understanding. He stroked his beard and slowly said, "It seems my previous guess was correct; this lady must have amnesia."

"Amnesia?" Upon hearing this, Mo Chenfan's face turned deathly pale. "Doctor, do you mean... she doesn't remember anything from before?"

The old doctor nodded and explained, "That's very possible. The lady suffered a head injury, which caused memory confusion, so she can't remember things from before. This is not uncommon. With proper care and time, she may be able to recover her memory."

Hearing this, Mo Chenfan breathed a slight sigh of relief, but then asked worriedly, "Then...when will she regain her memories?"

The old doctor shook his head and said, "I can't say for sure. Maybe soon, maybe..."

"Perhaps she'll never recover?" Lu Yuhang, who had been silent all along, suddenly spoke, interrupting the old doctor. He raised his head, his gaze fixed on the old doctor, his eyes filled with suspicion and scrutiny. "Just like you said before that my mother wouldn't live more than three days?"

Upon hearing this, the old doctor's face stiffened instantly. He opened his mouth, as if wanting to explain something, but didn't know what to say...

The old doctor blushed slightly at Lu Yuhang's question and coughed awkwardly twice. He had indeed predicted before that the child's mother's injuries were too severe and she wouldn't live more than three days. Now that she had woken up alive, he was really embarrassed.

Seeing this, Mo Chenfan assumed the old doctor wanted payment and looked troubled. His family was destitute; he barely made ends meet by hunting wild game, so where would he find the spare money to hire a doctor?

"Doctor, what about this consultation fee..." Mo Chenfan stammered, taking out a cloth bag from his pocket. Inside were only a few copper coins, which he had saved up to buy medicine for his child's mother.

The old doctor waved his hand, looking somewhat uneasy. "Alright, alright, I was in the wrong today, so I won't accept the consultation fee." With that, he took out a porcelain bottle from his medicine box. "Here are some pills to promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis. Take one pill three times a day with water."

Lu Yuhang looked at the old doctor, his young face full of doubt, "Are you really a doctor? How come you don't even know when my mother will wake up?"

The old doctor was embarrassed by the repeated questioning from the child, but remembering his previous misdiagnosis, he had no words to refute it. He could only cough to cover his embarrassment. "I have been practicing medicine for many years and have never made a mistake. This time... this time it was just an accident! Well, it's getting late. I have to rush back to the clinic to get medicine, so I won't stay any longer. Please take good care of the patient. I will come back for a follow-up visit in a few days."

Seeing that the old doctor was about to leave, Mo Chenfan quickly got up to see him off, saying, "Doctor, please take care, I'll see you down the mountain."

The old doctor waved his hand, "No need, you stay and take care of the patient. The mountain road is rugged, I can go back by myself."

Mo Chenfan wanted to say something more, but was interrupted by the old doctor, "No need to say more, my mind is made up, you can stay here with peace of mind."

With that, the old doctor slung his medicine kit over his shoulder and hurried out of the room. Mo Chenfan watched the old doctor's departing figure, his brow furrowing slightly, a vague unease creeping into his heart. He turned back to the bedside, looking at Lu Jinxuan lying there, hesitant to speak…

Seeing that the old doctor was determined to leave, Mo Chenfan stopped insisting, told Lu Yuhang to take good care of "Mother", and then turned around and followed the old doctor down the mountain.

Only Lu Jinxuan and Lu Yuhang remained in the room. After Mo Chenfan left, the room was so quiet that they could hear each other breathing. Lu Jinxuan kept her eyes tightly closed, silently pondering: This Mo Chenfan seems to have a very close relationship with the original owner of this body, and that child, calling her "Mother" so affectionately, I wonder if she's the original owner's child...

Just as Lu Jinxuan was lost in thought, Mo Chenfan returned. He stood by the bed, looking at the unconscious "Lu Jinxuan" with a complicated expression, and said in a low voice, "I know you must have many questions in your mind right now, but I hope you can let go of the past and start anew..."

Upon hearing this, Lu Jinxuan was startled. Did he know that she was not the original owner of this body?

However, before she could think it through, Mo Chenfan's voice rang out again: "Don't worry, I will take good care of you and Hang'er. From now on, we..."

Mo Chenfan's voice stopped abruptly. Seemingly realizing he had misspoke, he gave "Lu Jinxuan" a deep look, then turned and quickly left the room.

Not long after Mo Chenfan left, Lu Jinxuan slowly opened her eyes. She looked at the empty room, her heart filled with mixed emotions.

"Mother, you're awake!"

Lu Yuhang's childish voice rang in her ears. Lu Jinxuan turned her head and saw Lu Yuhang carrying a steaming bowl of porridge as he walked in.

"Mother, you've been unconscious for two days. You must be starving. Come and have some porridge." Lu Yuhang said, placing the bowl of porridge on the low table beside the bed. Then he climbed onto the bed, helped Lu Jinxuan sit up, and let her lean against him.

Lu Jinxuan took the bowl of porridge and sipped it slowly. The porridge was light, but it was cooked until it was soft, sticky, and sweet. Lu Jinxuan drank more than half a bowl in one go before she felt her hunger subside a little.

"Mother, what else would you like to eat? I'll go get it for you." Lu Yuhang looked at Lu Jinxuan and asked sensibly.

Lu Jinxuan put down her porridge bowl, smiled and patted Lu Yuhang's head, "No need, Mother is already full."

“Mother…” Lu Yuhang seemed to want to say something, but was interrupted by Lu Jinxuan.

Lu Jinxuan held Lu Yuhang's hand and carefully examined the child in front of her.

Lu Yuhang was about five or six years old. He was beautifully sculpted, with a pair of bright, dark eyes that were full of life. However, his face was a little pale, and he was much thinner than other children his age.

While gently stroking Lu Yuhang's fingers, Lu Jinxuan discreetly examined his physical condition, thinking to herself: This child... Lu Jinxuan gently stroking Lu Yuhang's fingers while discreetly examining his physical condition, thinking to herself: This child is actually born with a lightning spiritual root, and his meridians are pure, making him a rare cultivation prodigy! But why is he so weak at such a young age?

"Hang'er, who cooked this porridge?" Lu Jinxuan scooped up a spoonful of porridge and smiled as she brought it to Lu Yuhang's lips.

Lu Yuhang shook his head, obediently opened his mouth, and swallowed the porridge in one gulp. "Uncle Mo cooked it. Uncle Mo said that Mother would be hungry when she woke up, so he got up early to cook porridge."

Upon hearing this, Lu Jinxuan paused, and tentatively asked, "Hang'er, have you always lived with Uncle Mo?"

Lu Yuhang tilted his head as if he understood, and after thinking for a moment, he said, "Before Mother fell into a coma, we lived in a very, very far place. It was Uncle Mo who brought us here."

"Then... what about your father?" Lu Jinxuan paused, but still asked.

Lu Yuhang's eyes dimmed. He lowered his head and said softly, "I've never met my father, and my mother has never mentioned him..."

Lu Jinxuan's doubts deepened. Who exactly was the original owner of this body? Why did she remain silent about her child? And what was the relationship between Mo Chenfan and the original owner?

"Hang'er, tell your mother, when you were sleeping..." Lu Jinxuan wanted to ask more, but Lu Yuhang interrupted her.

"Mommy, I'm so sleepy, let's go to sleep." Lu Yuhang said, snuggling into Lu Jinxuan's arms and closing his eyes.

Lu Jinxuan looked at Lu Yuhang sleeping soundly in her arms, her mind filled with many thoughts. This child had nightmares every night, and the scenes in his dreams were all strikingly similar. Could it be... that the problem lay with his father?

"Mother..." In his dazed state, Lu Yuhang suddenly grabbed Lu Jinxuan's sleeve and murmured, "Don't... don't leave Hang'er behind..."

Lu Jinxuan's heart tightened. She gently patted Lu Yuhang's back and asked softly, "Hang'er, be good. Mother is here. No one has abandoned you. Tell Mother what you dreamed about?"

Lu Yuhang struggled in his sleep, his brow furrowed, and said intermittently, "No...don't take Mother away...Father...no..."

Upon hearing the word "father," Lu Jinxuan became even more certain that Lu Yuhang's unusual behavior was related to his father. However, the original owner's memories were completely blank; she had no idea who this "father" was, let alone why he appeared in Lu Yuhang's nightmares.

"Hang'er, don't be afraid, Mother will protect you." Lu Jinxuan hugged Lu Yuhang even tighter, secretly vowing to find out the truth and the man hidden behind the nightmare!

Just then, a soft footstep sounded outside the door. Lu Jinxuan looked up alertly and listened carefully. The footsteps grew closer and closer, finally stopping at the doorway.

With a creak, the door was gently pushed open, and a tall figure appeared in the doorway. In the dim moonlight, Lu Jinxuan recognized the person as Mo Chenfan.

Mo Chenfan walked in carrying a bowl of dark, murky medicine. He placed the bowl on the table, walked to the bedside, and said softly, "Hang'er, it's time to take your medicine."

Lu Jinxuan quickly closed her eyes and continued to pretend to be asleep.

Mo Chenfan seemed unaware that Lu Jinxuan had woken up. He gently picked up Lu Yuhang and said tenderly, "Come on, Hang'er, drink your medicine and you'll feel better."

Lu Yuhang opened his eyes groggily, saw that it was Mo Chenfan, and obediently opened his mouth and drank the medicine in one gulp.

Mo Chenfan put down the bowl, covered Lu Yuhang with the blanket, and turned to leave.

"Wait!" Lu Jinxuan suddenly spoke up, abruptly opening her eyes and staring intently at Mo Chenfan.

Mo Chenfan was startled by Lu Jinxuan's sudden action. He stood there, stunned, and almost dropped the oil lamp in his hand.

Lu Jinxuan sat up, grabbed Mo Chenfan's wrist, and asked sharply, "Who exactly are you? Why are you approaching us, mother and son?"

Mo Chenfan felt Lu Jinxuan's icy body temperature and saw the raging anger burning in her eyes. His heart trembled, and he opened his mouth, but couldn't utter a single word...
