Black Myth: The Legend of Tianpeng Seeking Demons
Chapter 92 Happiness is Right Before Your Eyes
Jukele scratched his head a little sheepishly and chuckled, "Actually, it was Xiaobai who told me the answer. Anyway, we finally got through this damn maze, that's awesome!"
Adrian also showed a rare smile: "Looks like you're not entirely useless after all, Juklee."
Upon hearing this, Jukeli immediately straightened his back and said with a smug look, "Of course! I, Jukeli, am multi-talented, intelligent, and brave!"
Avril smiled as she watched their interaction. She found that Juckley's humor and Adrian's integrity and seriousness created a wonderful balance, adding a touch of fun and warmth to this tedious and dangerous journey.
As the journey continues, Juklee and Adrian have many interesting interactions.
One evening, as they were setting up camp in a forest, Juklee was lounging under a tree, watching Adrian meticulously check the security around the camp.
Juckley couldn't help but tease, "Hey Adrian, can you stop looking so serious all the time? Relax a bit and enjoy the trip! Look at this beautiful starry sky, listen to these melodious insect chirps, isn't it wonderful!"
Upon hearing this, Adrian turned to Juckley, his face expressionless. "My duty is to protect you; we cannot afford to be complacent. The enemy could appear at any moment, and we must remain vigilant at all times."
Upon hearing this, Jukele sighed dramatically, "Oh dear, living like this is so tiring! Life is short, enjoying it while you can is the way to go! Come, let's appreciate the beautiful night view together!"
Adrian shook his head, his tone tinged with helplessness and determination: "You don't understand, Jukele. I bear the honor and mission of my family; I cannot..."
“Alright, alright,” Juklee interrupted him impatiently. “Here we go again, always talking about family honor and mission. I’m tired of it! Don’t you have anything you want to do yourself?”
A complex emotion flashed in Adrian's eyes upon hearing this, but he quickly regained his composure: "My wishes are not important; what matters is fulfilling my mission."
Juckley was about to say something when Avril interrupted their argument, saying, "Alright, you two. It's late, let's get some rest. We have a long journey ahead of us tomorrow."
Avril's words silenced the two, but Juckley couldn't help muttering under his breath, "What a boring guy..."
Adrian continued his patrol as if the conversation had never happened.
Avril looked at the two of them and thought to herself: It's truly fate that these two people with such different personalities were able to become partners on this journey.
However, fate always seems to like playing tricks. Just when they thought their journey would be smooth sailing, a sudden crisis shattered their peace.
That day, they were traversing a dense forest when they suddenly heard a chilling howl. Immediately afterward, a gigantic beast leaped out of the trees and pounced on them.
This monster was enormous, with the body of a lion, the wings of an eagle, and the tail of a scorpion. Its eyes gleamed with a blood-red light, it spewed venomous gas from its mouth, and its body emanated powerful magical energy.
"Watch out!" Adrian shouted, immediately stepping forward to shield Avril.
The monster's claws struck with lightning speed. Although Adrian managed to parry with his sword in time, he was still sent flying by the immense impact. The monster's claws tore a deep wound into his chest, and blood instantly stained his clothes.
"Adrian!" Avril exclaimed, rushing to Adrian's side. "Are you alright?"
Adrian, enduring the excruciating pain, tried to remain calm: "I...I'm fine...just...a minor injury..."
However, his pale face and trembling body betrayed him. Avril looked at Adrian's pained state, her heart filled with self-blame and worry.
Just then, the monster launched a new attack. Ignoring the danger, Avril stepped forward and used her magic to shield Adrian from a fatal blow.
Seeing this, Jukele disregarded his fear and drew his dagger, charging towards the monster: "Hey, you big guy, come and play with me!"
The monster, distracted by Juklee, temporarily left Avril and Adrian. Avril seized the opportunity to begin healing Adrian, her hands glowing softly as she gently covered his wounds.
While dodging the monsters' attacks, Jukele anxiously asked, "Little White, how is Adrian? Is there any way to save him?"
Xiao Bai's voice came from the ring, tinged with worry: "He's badly injured. Avril's magic can only temporarily stabilize his condition. You must find herbs to heal him as soon as possible. Deep in this forest, there should be a herb called 'Moonlight Grass,' which can quickly heal wounds."
After hearing this, Jukeli immediately made up his mind: "Okay, I'll go find it right now!"
He skillfully evaded the monsters' attacks and disappeared into the dense jungle. Although Jukli was a highly skilled healer, he didn't recognize the herbs in this unfamiliar world and could only rely on Xiaobai's guidance.
“Go to the left, there’s a stream there, moonflowers usually grow by the water,” Little White directed Juklee.
Following Little White's instructions, Jukele traversed the forest. His clothes were torn by branches, and his face was scratched by thorns, but he paid no heed, his only thought being to find the herbs that could save Adrian as soon as possible.
Finally, beside a moonlit stream, Jukele discovered moongrass emitting a faint blue glow. Overjoyed, he gathered some and rushed back to the battlefield.
When Juckley returned, Avril had already repelled the monster, but she was pale from excessive magic consumption. Adrian lay on the ground, breathing weakly, in critical condition.
Without a word, Juckley immediately began to treat the moonflower. He skillfully crushed the herb and then applied it to Adrian's wound.
As time went by, Adrian's injuries began to improve; his breathing gradually became steady, and his complexion slowly regained its color.
Adrian slowly opened his eyes and saw Avril and Juckley standing beside him, a warm feeling welling up inside him. He wanted to say something, but Avril gently stopped him.
“You don’t need to say anything,” Avril said softly, a hint of tenderness in her eyes. “I know what you want to say. Get some rest; we’re all here.”
Watching the unspoken understanding between the two, Juckley couldn't help but smile knowingly. He thought to himself, "It seems this journey isn't just about completing a mission, but also about helping Avril find true happiness."
