Black Myth: The Legend of Tianpeng Seeking Demons
Chapter 147 Entering the Underground Palace
After a dizzying spin, Zhu Feifei dramatically... fell face-first into the desert. "Pfft!" He spat out a mouthful of sand, feeling as if he had swallowed an hourglass, his hair and toes filled with sand.
"Cough cough cough... Little White, you call this a populated place?!" Zhu Feifei angrily questioned Little White, the spirit inside the Moonlight Ring, while spitting out sand. He felt like a piece of dried-out bacon, ready to be weathered into a sand sculpture at any moment.
The gloating voice of the Ringwraith White rang out: "You idiot, welcome to the world of tomb raiding! Exciting, isn't it? Surprised? This is something I specially chose for you, guaranteed to be unforgettable!"
"Unforgettable for a lifetime? I, Old Pig, just want to stuff you back into the alchemy furnace for a complete makeover!" Zhu Feifei was so angry that he jumped up and down, but he was too weak to jump, and he couldn't even jump as high as a desert lizard.
"Alright, alright, enough nonsense, let's get down to business!" Xiaobai interrupted him impatiently. "Your target is the Queen of Jingjue, a hot, stunningly beautiful tomb raider obsessed with finding the legendary treasures of the ancient city of Jingjue. Remember, your mission is to obtain her Tears of True Love! Don't blame me for not warning you, this world isn't like those idyllic havens you've been to before. It's fraught with danger, full of traps and mechanisms. One wrong move and you'll be turned into a mummy, displayed in a museum for everyone to see!"
Upon hearing "hot body, unparalleled beauty," Zhu Feifei immediately perked up, her eyes practically sparkling: "Queen of Jingjue? Hehe, sounds good! I, Old Pig... oh no, Zhu Feifei, love challenges the most! Quickly, show me the way, Little White!"
The Moonlight Ring emitted a beam of silver light, pointing towards a distant cave entrance almost buried by sandstorms. Zhu Feifei squinted, barely managing to make out the dark cave entrance, which resembled the gaping maw of a monster.
"Hey Xiaobai, isn't the Queen of Jingjue's taste a bit too unique? Living in this place, aren't you afraid of having nightmares at night?" Zhu Feifei complained as she carefully walked towards the cave entrance, afraid of accidentally falling into some quicksand pit.
Before he could get close, he heard a loud argument, even more lively than in a market, coming from the cave entrance.
"We discovered this entrance first, so why are you Black Wind Bandits stealing it?!" A clear female voice, tinged with anger, was like a spring in the desert, instantly attracting Zhu Feifei's attention.
"Hehe, little girls, in this desolate wilderness, whoever finds you first gets to keep you! Might makes right! If you know what's good for you, get lost. If I'm in a good mood, I might spare your lives!" A gruff male voice responded arrogantly, like a stray dog whose tail had been stepped on.
Zhu Feifei was secretly delighted; it seemed there was going to be a good show. He quickened his pace and arrived at the cave entrance, where he saw a group of ragged, weathered tomb raiders facing off, their swords drawn in a tense standoff, a scene comparable to the annual "Desert Tomb Raiders' Exchange Conference."
One of them, a tall and beautiful woman, wore a tight-fitting outfit that accentuated her shapely figure. She held a uniquely shaped dagger in her hand; she was the Queen of Jingjue he was looking for. Her stunning beauty and aloof demeanor were completely out of place with her surroundings, like a black datura blooming in the desert.
Facing her was a burly man with a fierce face and a thick beard, the leader of the Black Wind Bandits, known as "Black Whirlwind." Behind him followed a group of menacing henchmen, each wielding knives, spears, and clubs, exuding a menacing aura.
"This Queen Jingjue is truly a stunning beauty!" Zhu Feifei thought to himself, his mouth practically watering. However, he quickly realized that now was not the time to be infatuated; he needed to find a way to get close to the Queen Jingjue.
His eyes darted around, and an idea came to him. He pretended to be a concerned citizen, stepped forward, and said, "Gentlemen, how can you make such a racket in broad daylight? What kind of behavior is this? Why don't you let me try?"
The leader of the Black Wind Bandits glanced at him disdainfully: "Where did this pretty boy come from, daring to show off his skills in front of us? He should take a good look at himself. With his delicate skin, what secrets and mechanisms could he possibly know? He's probably here for tourism, not tomb raiding."
Zhu Feifei remained calm and unhurried, taking a nine-bead bracelet from his waist. The bracelet instantly transformed into a nine-toothed rake, radiating a dazzling golden light that illuminated his handsome face, making him appear even more radiant.
"Pretty boy? Heh, we'll see if you have the skills!" Zhu Feifei sneered, brandishing his nine-toothed rake as he walked to the entrance of the tomb, displaying the demeanor of a master.
He carefully observed the environment around the cave entrance and found that the entrance was full of intricate mechanisms and runes, and that a slight mistake could trigger a deadly trap.
"Tsk tsk tsk, this mechanism is quite ingeniously designed. I just don't know which scoundrel designed it, always trying to trick people!" Zhu Feifei commented, shaking his head as he calmly deciphered the mechanism. He would occasionally turn to wink at the Queen of Jingjue, trying to flirt with her, but the Queen completely ignored him.
In no time, a "click" was heard and the mechanism at the entrance of the tunnel opened.
Everyone was astonished at the sight. The Black Wind Bandits, in particular, were completely dumbfounded.
A hint of appreciation flashed in the Queen of Jingjue's eyes as she looked Zhu Feifei up and down and said, "You have some skill, unlike those brutes who only know how to brandish knives and spears."
Zhu Feifei raised her eyebrows smugly, thinking to herself: Hehe, Your Majesty, my charm is no joke!
Although the Black Wind Bandit leader was resentful, he had to admit Zhu Feifei's skills. He walked up to Zhu Feifei and said with a forced smile, "Young brother, I see you are quite capable. How about we cooperate and explore this ancient tomb together? We can split the treasures inside!"
Zhu Feifei chuckled inwardly. She was just worried about not finding an opportunity to get close to the Queen of Jingjue, but this Black Whirlwind had delivered himself right to her doorstep.
"Cooperation? Sure!" Zhu Feifei readily agreed, then leaned close to Black Whirlwind's ear and whispered, "However, I, Old Pig, have one condition: once we find the treasure, the Queen of Jingjue is mine!"
Upon hearing this, Black Whirlwind nearly jumped up: "You little brat, you think you can eat swan meat like a toad? Don't you even know your own limitations!"
Zhu Feifei chuckled: "We'll know how much you're worth once we go in and have a go at it, won't we?"
So, Zhu Feifei, the Queen of Jingjue, and the Black Wind Bandits entered the ancient tomb together.
The ancient tomb was pitch black, with a chilling wind blowing, making it feel eerie. As Zhu Feifei walked, she complained, "Hey Xiaobai, why is it so dark in this tomb? They don't even have a lantern. If we slip and fall flat on our faces, it'll be incredibly embarrassing!"
The Ringwraith White's voice rang out lazily: "Serves you right! Who told you to be so greedy and eat all the Light Talismans!"
"Huh? When did I, Old Pig, eat a light-up talisman?" Zhu Feifei looked bewildered.
"You were at Laozi's place last time, and you ate the 'demon-revealing mirror' that he used for alchemy as a snack, and you even said it tasted crunchy!"
"Ahem...that's all in the past, let's not talk about it." Zhu Feifei coughed awkwardly a few times, then continued walking forward.
The ancient tomb was filled with numerous traps, far more complex and ingenious than those at the entrance. Even the Queen of Jingjue, a master of mechanical arts, found it challenging.
"The mechanism design of this ancient tomb seems to be different from any other ancient tomb I have seen before," Queen Jingjue said while carefully observing the surrounding environment.
Zhu Feifei nodded; he had noticed this as well. He realized that the Queen of Jingjue seemed to know more about the ancient tomb than she had indicated, suggesting there might be something else going on.
