Just as Wen Yuanshu was about to speak, a voice cut in from the side: "Commander Lu, what a coincidence!"

No matter how well the outsiders speak the Dazhao language, it still sounds strange to the native Dazhao people.

Lu Chengyuan turned his head to look at Huyan Zhuo, the grievance in his eyes had long since been completely concealed, leaving only a cold light: "Huyan Chanyu".

Hu Yanzhuo nodded slightly, his gaze falling on Wen Yuanshu with a smile: "Miss Wen, what a coincidence."

His words seemed to carry a deeper meaning.

Lu Chengyuan's expression changed slightly.

“Commander Lu, there’s no need to be nervous,” Hu Yanzhuo said with a smile. “I just wanted to say hello to Miss Wen.”

As Hu Yanzhuo spoke, he cupped his hands in a respectful bow to Wen Yuanshu: "I didn't recognize Miss Wen last time, and I was rude to you. Please forgive me."

"You flatter me, Chanyu."

He was very courteous, so Wen Yuanshu naturally had to return the courtesy.

Wen Yuanshu curtsied gracefully, her movements elegant and natural, a sight to behold.

“Now that we have officially met, we are friends from now on,” Hu Yanzhuo said with a smile. “Miss Wen, please don’t be surprised. I’m unfamiliar with this capital city, so having more friends means having more options.”

Lu Chengyuan couldn't help but snort.

There are so many people who don't know anyone here today.

Hu Yanzhuo naturally noticed Lu Chengyuan's movements, and said with a smile, "I won't bother anyone here. Commander Lu, Miss Wen, I'll take my leave."

After speaking, Hu Yanzhuo cupped his hands in a respectful gesture.

The two returned the greeting, and then Huyan Zhuo turned and left briskly.

He seemed to have really just come to say hello.

Wen Yuanshu couldn't help but wonder, "This Chanyu is a little different from what I imagined. He seems a bit... too kind, doesn't he?"

She even felt that "kind" was not enough to describe him.

“Anyone who can sit on the throne of the Chanyu is no ordinary person. We cannot underestimate him,” Lu Chengyuan said. “Let’s go.”

After the dragon boat race, the excitement subsided, and the people on the shore began to disperse.

Wen Yuanshu nodded.

The two had lunch at a restaurant by the river and then headed back home.

On her way home, Wen Yuanshu couldn't help but think about what Wen Siyu had done when they first arrived at the shore, and the more she thought about it, the angrier she became.

Lu Chengyuan, however, was no longer angry. He was propping his head up and watching her with a leisurely air.

"What are you looking at?" Wen Yuanshu said irritably.

“That’s really rare,” Lu Chengyuan’s voice even carried a hint of amusement. “I never thought someone would get jealous.”

Lu Chengyuan chuckled after being glared at by Wen Yuanshu, and pulled her into his arms, his heart filled with joy.

“Yuan Shu,” Lu Chengyuan’s hand caressed the back of her neck, “shouldn’t we start making preparations for our future?”

"No way," Wen Yuanshu said irritably.

Lu Chengyuan paused, "You...you still don't want to?"

After a long silence, Wen Yuanshu finally said, "...It's not that I'm unwilling, it's that my mother said we have to wait until the barbarian chieftain leaves before we can do this."

This is a matter of state.

Lu Chengyuan's Adam's apple bobbed slightly: "So that means you're willing, right?"

Wen Yuanshu's face flushed red, and she pursed her lips without saying a word.

However, Lu Chengyuan was determined to get a straight answer from her. He wouldn't let her have a moment's peace until she spoke, which made Wen Yuanshu lose her patience. She had no choice but to say, "I'm willing, I'm willing!"

Lu Chengyuan chuckled contentedly, his hand around Wen Yuanshu's waist tightening unconsciously.

Although things can only be done after Hu Yanzhuo leaves, it's definitely time to start preparing as soon as possible. The sooner it's done, the better. Otherwise, if this fool gets tricked away again, I really don't know what he'll be capable of.

The two returned to the General's Mansion, and as soon as they got out of the car, they saw Old Madam Wen standing at the door.

Wen Yuanshu suppressed her displeasure and stepped forward, saying, "Mother, why are you standing here?"

“Your Aunt Zhou came this morning,” Old Madam Wen said, raising her chin. “She just left.”

Madam Wen and Madam Zhou were old acquaintances, so Madam Wen naturally had to come out to see them off in person.
