Chapter 57 Apprenticeship

Chapter Fifty-Seven: Becoming an Apprentice

With his mind made up, Han Qi felt a sense of relief. He was only doing this to repay Tang Siyu for saving his life in the illusion; a true man repays kindness and never lets a grudge go unpunished.

The two climbed the steps, and soon Han Qi discovered that there were three small mountains suspended in the sky, each with a large hall on it. It was obvious that this should be the Three Venerable Halls. To Han Qi's surprise, the Three Venerable Halls were suspended in mid-air.

After the two descended the stone steps, they came to a platform. In the center of the platform were three circular teleportation arrays, each surrounded by eight white jade crystals. Clearly, these eight crystals provided the energy needed for the teleportation arrays. Golden light shimmered in the center of the circle formed by the crystals, and countless runes flashed, creating an atmosphere full of mystery.

Elder Blue Demon pointed to the teleportation array and said, "There are three teleportation arrays here, one leading to the main hall of each of the three hall masters. The one in the middle leads to the main hall master, the one on the left leads to the second hall master, and the one on the right, needless to say, leads to the main hall of the third hall master." After saying that, he glanced at Han Qi and continued, "You go by yourself, I won't go."

Han Qi nodded and bowed to Elder Blue Demon again to express his gratitude.

Han Qi steadily walked into the central teleportation array. A flash of golden light appeared, and Han Qi felt a blur before his eyes. He was now in front of the main hall. Han Qi stepped down from the teleportation array and looked at the main hall. In contrast to the dark gray style below the mountain, the main hall was carved from a single piece of white stone and inlaid with gold in many places. It was magnificent and beautiful. Han Qi was a man who had seen grand scenes. He imagined that even the War God Temple he had once visited would pale in comparison to the main hall before him.

Suddenly, a sweet voice came: "You're here, so come in quickly, your master is still waiting for you. What are you daydreaming about?"

Indeed, it was Tang Siyu who spoke. Han Qi smiled slightly at her. She was still wearing the same purple dress she had worn when they first met. The dress fluttered in the wind, giving her an ethereal look. Coupled with her beautiful face, she looked like a fairy descended from heaven.

Han Qi quickly walked over, cupped her hands in greeting, and said, "Greetings, Senior Sister!"

Tang Siyu instantly flashed a charming smile, nodded with satisfaction, and said, "Yes, come with me."

However, to Han Qi's surprise, Tang Siyu did not lead him into the main hall, but instead turned to a room next to the main hall.

As they approached the door, it opened automatically, revealing a tea table where the Grand Master was looking at bamboo slips, with a cup of tea beside him.

"Master, Han Qi is here," Tang Siyu said softly.

Tang Shuntian then raised his head and said, "Okay, Siyu, you go out for a bit. I need to talk to your junior brother about something." With that, he casually closed the bamboo scroll.

Han Qi immediately bowed and knelt down, saying, "Master, please accept my bow."

"Okay, you come here."

Han Qi quickly looked up and saw his master pointing to the opposite side of the coffee table, gesturing for him to sit down.

Han Qi was taken aback for a moment, realizing that her master was not as strict as she had imagined. She quickly got up, walked over, and sat down gently.

Tang Shuntian stretched out his hand, and a book made of animal hide appeared out of thin air in his hand. He then placed the book in front of Han Qi and said, "I'm giving you a secret manual first. You must practice it diligently, and you can ask me anytime if you have any questions."

"Yes, disciple understands," Han Qi said respectfully.

Han Qi took the animal skin book in his hand and saw the words "Water Life Curse" written on it. He knew that this manual belonged to the water-based martial arts, so he put it in his pocket.

"Your cultivation room and residence are in this main hall. You can come up at any time, but there is one thing you must remember: do not come up at the beginning and fifteenth of each month. This is a rule of this main hall, and you must abide by it." Tang Shuntian's expression was unusually serious when he said this, and his voice was raised a few decibels.

Upon hearing this, Han Qi immediately confirmed his suspicions: his master must have some secret, and the answer lay in the beginning and the fifteenth of the month.

He then calmly replied, "This disciple will keep it in mind and will never disobey."

"Okay, you can go back now. I need you to use the Water Life Spell in ten days. I'll be waiting for you here then," Tang Tianshun said, picking up the teacup on the coffee table and taking a sip. Then he opened the bamboo scroll in front of him and began to read it carefully.

Han Qi knew it was time for him to leave, so he said, "Yes, disciple takes his leave."

Han Qi slowly got up and left.

Tang Tianshun then raised his head again, watching Han Qi's departing figure, and murmured, "I hope you won't disappoint your teacher. Your teacher doesn't have much time left." He then sighed softly.

Outside the door, Tang Siyu kept pacing back and forth, glancing towards the doorway every now and then. Her master had never kicked her out before, and even when he was talking to her second or third uncle, he would let her listen in. She never expected that she would be asked to avoid him when she saw Han Qi, which made her somewhat unhappy.

Upon seeing Han Qi come out, she immediately straightened her face, beckoned Han Qi over with her small hand.

Han Qi saw Tang Siyu's expression and knew things were going badly; he needed to be careful.

As Han Qi approached, Tang Siyu said coldly, "What did Master just tell you that you wanted me to leave? If you dare to lie, I'll knock you down with this fan." With that, she took out a jade fan and held it in her hand.

Han Qi believed her words without a doubt. He was sure he would dare to hit himself, but then he thought that since his master wanted his senior sister to leave, there must be a reason. So he said, "He didn't say anything special. He just asked me why I came to the God and Demon Palace, and then said that there was a cultivation room and a rest room for me here. That's all." He didn't mention the Water Life Curse at all.

Tang Siyu stared at Han Qi with suspicion, but seeing Han Qi's calm and composed expression, which didn't seem like he was lying, she said, "Alright, I understand."

Han Qi then said, "If Senior Sister has nothing else, I'd like to see my cultivation room." He secretly rejoiced, thinking, "You little acting whiz, you're still lacking."

Tang Siyu was very skeptical of the information she received from Han Qi, but she didn't dare to go in to confirm it even though she saw her master's door. This was because Tang Shuntian was very strict with Tang Siyu here, placing their master-disciple relationship first, and a father-daughter relationship would never appear in this hall.

So he said, "Let's go, I'll take you to see it."

He then turned and walked towards the main hall. Han Qi quickly followed. The two entered the main hall, which was not as magnificent as the outside, but had a simple and elegant style. There was a small stone table in the hall, with several chairs around it. At the far end, there was a chair with a magical beast carved on the back, its claws outstretched and lifelike. The magical beasts carved on the other chairs were slightly smaller than the first one, but still had a grand presence. The reliefs on the surrounding walls were also magical beasts from the demon realm. Clearly, this was a small council hall.
