Su Youzi followed Huo Jia out of the small house.

The two walked one after the other without saying a word.

The path leading from their little house all the way to the ancient town.

Su Youzi felt as if a thin fog had enveloped her heart, a sense of unease creeping in, and her steps unconsciously slowed.

She stopped and called out to Huo Jia.

"Mr. Huo."

Huo Jia turned around and looked at her.

"Yuzu, I'm sorry, I acted impulsively the other day." Huo Jia's eyes were sincere.

He continued, "I know I made you uncomfortable that day."

Actually, I just care about you too much.

His voice lowered.

Her face showed a hint of pain and grievance, like a misunderstood child longing for understanding and comfort.

“From childhood to adulthood, I have had whatever I wanted, and no one has ever refused me.”

"But you've rejected me time and time again. Do you know how much it hurts me?"

Suddenly, he became very affectionate.

"Yuzu, I really like you. From the first moment I saw you, I was deeply attracted to you."

"Please give me a chance to prove it to you, okay?"

Su Youzi rolled her eyes inwardly.

She struggled to control her emotions, a complex smile playing on her lips, and said softly:

"Mr. Huo, we are not children anymore. Relationships cannot be forced. I apologize for some of the things I did in the past that caused you misunderstanding."

"At the same time, I hope you understand that rejection doesn't mean I hate you, it's just... we might be better off as friends."

Suddenly, Huo Jia took a step closer to her.

Su Youzi took a step back without making a sound.

"Mr. Huo, I have said what I needed to say."

Huo Jia said excitedly, "I'm serious, Youzi, I really like you!"

"Mr. Huo, please have some self-respect!" Su Youzi said coldly. "It's getting late, I need to go back."

Su Youzi turned and left.

"Youzi!" Huo Jia grabbed Su Youzi's arm and pulled her back.

"What are you doing?!" Su Youzi struggled with all her might, but she couldn't break free no matter what she did.

Huo Jia's eyes suddenly changed, becoming sinister and terrifying.

"Su Youzi, why did you do this to me?!" he said through gritted teeth, his voice filled with anger.

Su Youzi was startled by Huo Jia's gaze.

"What exactly do you want?!" Su Youzi asked, trying to remain calm.

"What do I want?" Huo Jia sneered. "I want to know why you're playing me like this?!"

"I love you so much, yet you ignore me and instead flirt with other men!"

"What do you take me for?!"

Huo Jia became more and more excited as he spoke, and the force in his hands increased, squeezing Su Youzi until she felt a sharp pain.

"Let go of me! You're hurting me!" Su Youzi cried out in pain.

Huo Jia seemed not to hear her, still gripping Su Youzi's arm tightly, his eyes filled with a crazed and terrifying look.

"Su Youzi, why can't you like me?!"

-

Sprout Cottage.

Jiang Mu sat on the edge of the bed, her heart pounding like a rabbit's, unable to calm down.

She glanced at the clock every now and then.

The time displayed above seems to be slowed down, moving so slowly it's frustrating.

"Why aren't they back yet? It's been ten minutes!" she muttered anxiously.

Su Youzi's words before she left echoed in her ears:

"If I'm not back in fifteen minutes, call Duan Xingye for me."

"No, we can't wait any longer!"

Jiang Mu slapped his thigh and sprang up from the bed, rushing out as fast as the wind could carry him.

She jogged through the long corridor and headed straight for Duan Xingye and Zhu Jiuchuan's room.

When she reached the door, she didn't even have time to catch her breath.

He raised his hand and started banging on the door.

The knocking sounded particularly jarring in the quiet corridor, startling the lights in the hallway, which flickered a few times.

A moment later, the door creaked open.

Zhu Jiuchuan had wet hair and was only wearing a loose white T-shirt, clearly having just taken a shower.

I saw Jiang Mu standing at the door, panting.

He paused, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes: "Mu Mu? What's wrong?"

"Where is Duan Xingye?" Jiang Mu asked urgently, her tone tinged with panic.

Zhu Jiuchuan's eyes darkened, and he said in a low voice, "He's taking a shower."

"Go and call him out!" Jiang Mu, disregarding Zhu Jiuchuan's emotional state, said urgently, "I have something urgent to discuss with him!"

"What's the rush?" Zhu Jiuchuan asked somewhat reluctantly, with a hint of sourness.

"Tell him that the pomelo might be in danger!" Jiang Mu dropped a bombshell without bothering to explain.

Zhu Jiuchuan was initially a little jealous.

Upon hearing the words "the pomelo might be in danger," his expression instantly changed.

He immediately turned around and rushed into the room, banging on the bathroom door.

"Hoshino, hurry! Something's happened!"

Zhu Jiuchuan's voice was very loud.

Even through the door and the sound of rushing water, Duan Xingye could hear it clearly.

My heart skipped a beat, and I quickly turned off the shower. The sound of water stopped abruptly, leaving only water droplets sliding down his angular face.

"What happened?" he shouted.

Zhu Jiuchuan immediately added the words "Su Youzi," his tone urgent: "Su Youzi, something might have happened to Su Youzi!"

Upon hearing the name "Su Youzi".

Duan Xingye's expression changed, and his previously relaxed body tensed up instantly.

He hastily wiped the water off his face, not bothering to dry his body, grabbed a towel and wiped himself a few times, then grabbed his pants and put them on.

"what happened!"

He hadn't even finished putting on his clothes when he eagerly pressed Zhu Jiuchuan for answers.

When Jiang Mu saw Duan Xingye come out, he immediately spoke, his tone anxious and his speech rapid, as if afraid of missing any important information.

"Huo Jia called Youzi out, and she hasn't come back yet!"

"What?!" Duan Xingye paused, then looked up sharply at Jiang Mu.

Jiang Mu repeated anxiously, "Youzi was called out by Huo Jia, and it's been almost a while now..."

Before he could finish speaking, a loud bang was heard.

Duan Xingye slammed the door shut.

The door seemed to bear a thousand pounds of pressure, shaking violently, the sound echoing in the silent corridor, as if even the air itself was trembling.

Zhu Jiuchuan was startled by the loud noise.

He looked at Jiang Mu, his eyes filled with surprise.

He had never seen Duan Xingye so out of control.

"Quick, let's go take a look too!" Zhu Jiuchuan realized what was happening and didn't care about anything else.

He grabbed Jiang Mu's hand and quickly followed.
