Red Dead Redemption: The Great Philanthropist of the West

Chapter 238 Karen, the Big Sister, is Online

"Karen?... Oh, Karen. She's upstairs 'taking care' of some big fish."

"You know, we lost our money, and we still have to pay back the tavern bill."

"But she's been up there for quite a while now, maybe you could go and see her... She'd love to see you, Arthur."

The middle-aged man eagerly gulped down the sweet whiskey he had just received, his eyes glued to the delicious cocktails made by the bartender's fancy mixing techniques.

Having spent so much time together during their wandering days, Uncle Karen had confidence in her abilities. He didn't believe those seemingly dim-witted drunkards could outmaneuver the cunning and fierce woman. Besides, even if something unexpected happened, they had nothing to lose.

The money was lost in a drunken 'accident,' and as for chastity... oh, sorry, what's that? I don't know. In the eyes of these desperate outlaws who have long struggled to survive, it's long gone.

Unlike the older man, Arthur was not so carefree. He snatched the first glass of mint liqueur that the bartender had just mixed from the older man's hand, downed it in one gulp, and headed for the stairs.

Except for a few individuals, he considered everyone else in the original gang as his responsibility, as his family, especially the women and children, whom he always cared deeply about.

When Arthur rushed to the second floor of the tavern and saw rows of long, tightly closed guest rooms, he was somewhat dumbfounded. He had assumed the second floor was a spacious, open hall for drinking and entertainment, and that Karen would be easy to find.

It was all the uncle's fault for being unreliable and not explaining the situation. He could only turn around and go downstairs again to find the uncle and ask him for clarification.

In just that short time, the uncle had already become completely drunk and unconscious.

"I shouldn't have been so soft-hearted as to invite this old guy for drinks." Arthur shook the uncle, kicked him again, and muttered with dissatisfaction.

Left with no other option, Arthur had to go back upstairs and call out to each room one by one.

“Karen...Karen..."

Unsurprisingly, this earned Arthur a lot of friendly responses.

If the guests are in a single room or already asleep, it's fine; when disturbed, they just loudly praise Arthur in their rooms, saying things like, "Get out, you damn bastard," or "Go home and find your mother."

Those who were groping their female companions or getting to the crucial moment of their encounters weren't so patient. They all came out, pulling up their pants, to condemn them. However, most of them, having just drunk some cocktails and finding no one to worry about Karen, were quickly knocked unconscious by Arthur, who, in a fit of rage, slapped them unconscious, letting them fall into a peaceful sleep...

"Arthur?"

After Arthur called out to the door for a while, a door around the corner suddenly opened, revealing a person with a large bun. Then, a slightly scantily clad and broad-chested figure lunged at Arthur, colliding with him.

"Are you OK?"

Arthur was a little confused by Karen's reaction. Although Karen often teased him in the camp, it was mostly just talk and she rarely did anything about it.

Not to mention that she was now using that overwhelming passion to pressure him, which made him feel a little overwhelmed. He thought she had been wronged, so he quickly helped her up and wanted to ask what had happened.

"Of course, don't forget I'm the eldest sister in the family."

"I'm just happy to see you here."

Karen's eyes welled up with tears of joy. She had once had expectations for Arthur, but after seeing him become infatuated with Mary, she gave up gracefully and transformed her unspoken feelings into familial and friendly affection. In the end, she chose Sean, who often brought her small gifts to please her and cared for her.

When she chose to leave the gang, her only regret was not being able to see Arthur, who was still recovering from his injuries at Henry's, and not having a proper chance to say goodbye to her brother. Now, in her time of need, seeing this responsible brother again naturally made her happy and excited.

However, Arthur was somewhat skeptical when he saw the moisture in her eyes and her disheveled temples. He went to the room Karen had just come out of, pushed open the door, and saw that the room was littered with many expensive wine bottles and dice scattered everywhere. Two well-dressed men were already drunk on the table, and on the floor lay a drunkard with a broken head and disheveled clothes, surrounded by broken glass shards.

"OK, I was overthinking it." Arthur looked at the scene before him and shrugged helplessly.

"It seems we're not suited to stay here any longer."

"Come on, let's go somewhere else."

"No, no, wait for me."

Karen rummaged through the three drunkards, pulled out a number of US dollars and some small items, proudly waved them at Arthur, then put them in her pocket. Finally, she took the half-empty bottle of fine wine from the table before taking Arthur's arm and walking downstairs.

Being near Arthur always gives you a sense of security... well, except when he's drunk; those smacking lips of his are enough to make your mouth hurt...

When Arthur and Karen returned downstairs, they saw Charles and Little Finger discussing accommodations with the bartender. They quickly interrupted, saying they had something come up and couldn't stay. Then, amidst the puzzled looks of the others, they lifted up the drunken uncle, pulled Karen who was asking the bartender for a drink, and walked out of the pub.

"What's going on? Didn't we say we were going to stay here for the night and rest?"

"You've gotten into trouble again?"

Seeing the distrust on his good friend Charles's dark face, Arthur coughed awkwardly a few times and, pretending not to care, punched his good friend's muscular chest.

"How could you look at me like that, my brother?"

Do I look like someone who frequently causes trouble?

"You don't seem like...you are!"

.......

Arthur, who was initially quite happy upon hearing the first half of the sentence, suddenly froze. He thought, "I'd rather not have this brother."

"Okay, it's not entirely my fault. It's all the old man's fault for not explaining things clearly."

Arthur, in a fit of retaliatory force, threw the old man onto the horse, causing him to yelp in pain. He was just that kind of petty person.

"I thought Karen was in danger, and since I didn't know which room she was in, I knocked on the door of each room..."

"that's it?"

Charles expressed disbelief, saying that everyone knew each other so well.

"That's it... Well, I disturbed a few guests who had trouble sleeping, so I kindly helped them fall asleep again."

"They might even thank me for curing their insomnia."

"Ah...yes, yes, yes!"

Charles sighed, knowing this would happen; otherwise, why would he have left after agreeing to stay at the hotel?

Arthur chuckled a few times, acting as if he wanted to do a good deed anonymously. He then led everyone to another hotel nearby and generously offered to treat them to a lavish meal.
