After informing the servants at the door, Sophia was soon seen running out, lifting her skirt.

She was wearing a gorgeous dark green dress and a pair of small black gloves. A sparkling diamond necklace adorned her slender neck. She had clearly dressed up meticulously.

Upon seeing Henry, the little girl rushed over and, without hesitation, grabbed his arm and pulled him inside. Her eyes sparkled with excitement as she happily whispered:

"I originally intended to have a private banquet for you today, but many relatives and my father's friends wanted to come and visit after hearing that I was back. So my father thought we should just have a small banquet instead."

He heard that you are also a businessman, so he thought he could introduce you to someone so that you would have some connections in the future. Having more friends means having more opportunities.

I hope you don’t mind.”

"Of course I don't mind. I was just thinking about how to expand my network today. With Mr. Fellow's help, I'd be more than happy to accept."

"Alright, let's not talk about that now. Look at how I look today. I don't want you to only remember how disheveled I was before." With that, Sophia let go of Henry's hand, took a few steps forward, twirled around, and even did a short dance.

Looking at the graceful figure dancing like an elf in the moonlight, Henry's heart suddenly raced. Time seemed to freeze, and everything around him became blurry, except for her figure, which was clearly visible in his eyes.

"I'm asking you a question! How is it? How is it? Doesn't it look good? I spent a lot of time getting it done today." Seeing that Henry didn't speak, Sophia ran over again and grabbed his hand, shaking it.

Henry snapped out of his daze. "She's beautiful, like an angel."

Hearing Henry's praise, the little girl narrowed her eyes, and the corners of her mouth couldn't help but turn up, forming a beautiful arc.

After having her servants take Falcon and the others to the back garden for a banquet, Sophia pulled Henry upstairs to see her father.

On the second-floor balcony, Congressman Fellowes was chatting with a gentleman.

Seeing her daughter holding hands with a young man, she waved to him and stood up to greet him:

"This must be Mr. Allen, whom my precious daughter has been talking about all day. Thank you for saving my daughter. She is my everything. I hope you don't mind that it's so late. Please don't hesitate to tell me if there's anything I can do to help."

"Dad, I didn't." Sophia blushed slightly upon hearing her father's teasing and secretly glanced at Henry.

“Mr. Fellows, you don’t need to be so polite. Sophia and I are friends. You can just call me Henry.”

"Alright, then I'll just call you Henry from now on. You should keep in touch with Sophia more often in the future, so she doesn't run off everywhere. She really scared me to death this time. I was attending a banquet in Blackwater when I heard she was missing, so I rushed back overnight and ran around dealing with it. I didn't get much rest for two days, which is the main reason why I'm only meeting you so late."

"Alright, let's not talk about that for now. Let me introduce you to this gentleman next to me, my good friend and an important partner of my newspaper, Evelyn Miller, a well-known author. He's published several bestsellers; you might not have read them." Congressman Fellowes said, pointing to a middle-aged gentleman with a beard resembling a lamb's leg.

“Henry Allen, it’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Miller.” Henry shook hands with Evelyn Miller and continued:

“Although this is the first time I’ve met you, I’ve heard of you before. You helped my Native American friends and you spoke up for them in the newspapers. I thank you on their behalf.”

"Oh, is the Indian friend you're talking about the chief of Wapiti?"

"Yes, it's Chief Rainfall. His son, Eagle, is also at the banquet today. He's the handsome young man in the blue vest. You might have seen him before."

“Oh yes, I’ve seen this handsome young man before. He was with Chief Raindrops; his father was a great chief. It’s just that I didn’t have the ability to do more for them. Although I believe we all have a responsibility to help everyone living on this land, and there should be no racial discrimination,” Evelyn Miller remarked.

"I've also read Mr. Miller's 'American Purgatory' and 'American Eden,' and I strongly agree with his protection of nature and animals. I hope that Mr. Miller can take good care of his health and not harm himself by overworking," Henry kindly reminded him, knowing that Evelyn Miller would die at his desk a few years later due to overwork from his endless creative work.

“Really? I’m so happy that someone likes my work. It’s also a pleasure to meet you again, my friend,” Evelyn Miller said happily to Henry.

"Alright, I won't disturb your conversation any longer. I'm going downstairs to soak up the atmosphere of the banquet. I hope we'll have the chance to discuss literature together again sometime. You have great taste in me, haha." After saying goodbye to Feros, Evelyn Miller went downstairs.

“Alright, Henry, now it’s just us. Would you mind telling me about how you saved Sophia? Although Sophia told me about it, she doesn’t know the details.” Councilor Felix waved his hand, dismissing the servants, and then spoke.

Sophia was also there, her big, bright eyes wide open, waiting for Henry to tell his story. When he rescued her, she was tied up in the basement the whole time and could only hear the sounds of intense fighting.

“Could you tell me about Sophia’s kidnapping first? I think we should understand the whole story so we don’t miss any useful information,” Henry said after thinking for a moment. He had a feeling that there might be some strange things he didn’t know about.

Sofia was very enthusiastic: "Let me tell you, let me tell you. The day before yesterday, a friend of mine wrote to me saying that the oranges in her estate were ripe and asked if I was interested in visiting. So, the day before yesterday, I set off there."

When we reached the vicinity of Lakay, a servant said he had a stomachache and needed to relieve himself. He told us to go ahead, and he would catch up with us later. However, we hadn't gone far when I was kidnapped, and everyone else was killed.

"Wait a minute," Henry and Fellowes interrupted simultaneously.

Henry gestured for Felix to speak first.

“Sophia, you just said that your servant A got off the carriage, but he wasn’t with you?” Feros asked.

"Yes, he didn't make it and escaped. By the way, has he come back? I don't think I've seen him since I got back," Sophia said, puzzled.

Feros quickly noticed something was amiss; this was different from what Servant A had said. "Someone, go find Servant A, see where he is, and bring him here."

“Let’s continue. We’ll talk about Servant A later when we find him. Henry, what were you about to say?”

"I want to ask Sophia, when they kidnapped you, did they ask for your identity? What did they say?"

"No, they just suddenly appeared and killed everyone around me without saying a word. Then they tied me up and took me away." Recalling the scene, Sofia's lively appearance revealed a hint of fear.

“As far as I know, the Lemoine Raiders rarely kidnap people. They either assert their dominance and let you go, or they kill them all and steal their goods. I’ve never heard of anything like Sophia. And they clearly know your identity and route; they’re after you. Let’s continue and see if there are any more suspicious points.”

"After they tied me up, they just kept me tied up in the basement and ignored me until you came and rescued me, Henry." Sophia's mood dropped as she thought about the panic and helplessness she felt that day.
