Chapter 15: This Man is Damnly Sweet (The End)

After that, no matter how crazy Song Zhishu was, she obediently cooperated with the treatment. However, she did not eat or drink a drop of water.

Mu Chili held a bowl of millet porridge, his eyes showing obvious dark circles. He still said in a hoarse voice, "A-Shu, be good, let's eat."

Song Zhishu remained seated, gazing outside: "From now on, if Ashu encounters any difficulties, I will drop everything and do everything I can to save you. If I fail to keep this promise, I will wish I were dead."

Mu Chili's hand paused for a moment, then began to tremble violently. His bloodshot eyes filled with tears: "A-Shu... I was wrong, okay? You can let me die, just have a drink of food."

“Life is worse than death…” Song Zhishu lowered her eyes, tilted her head and smiled at him, and said gently, “Brother, life is worse than death for you.” Her voice was hoarse, but every word was precious.

"Fine, I'd rather be dead." Mu Chili smiled. "Come on, let's eat."

Song Zhishu's smile faded: "Mu Chili." She looked him straight in the eye: "Stop your feigned gentleness."

On the third day, Song Zhishu still did not eat.

On the fourth day

She suddenly locked the door. The doctor tried to open it with the key, but heard a cold voice from inside: "If you dare to come in, I'll jump off this building."

The doctor was at a loss. This was the sixth floor; jumping would definitely mean certain death.

Just as everyone was getting anxious, Mu Chili ran over breathlessly, looked at them, and hurriedly asked, "Where's Ashu?"

"She locked herself in the room, refusing to let anyone in, saying she'd jump off this building if anyone dared to go in." Seeing no response, a nurse boldly spoke up. Mu Chili's breath caught in his throat, his gaze abruptly shifting to the door beside him. He frantically pounded on it, choking out, "A-Shu, please don't do anything foolish! I'll die... I'll die! I beg you, please don't hurt yourself."

The crowd exchanged bewildered glances, then heard the person inside remain silent for a moment, still cold, yet giving everyone a sense of relief: "Let Mu Chili in herself."

As they opened the door, ready to enter, they were startled by Mu Chili's fierce gaze and simply watched him walk in alone, locking the door behind him. The doctor suddenly burst into tears, hating himself for not paying attention to this girl whose soul was already shattered.

"A-Shu." He searched around and finally found the small bundle in the corner, but when he saw her, Mu Chili's smile froze.

His already pale and thin arms were covered in bloody welts, the deep cuts piercing his eyes. He suddenly cried out, "Song Zhishu!"

Song Zhishu raised her head, and a gentle expression finally appeared on her usually calm face: "Don't come any closer."

Mu Chili stopped in her tracks and said in a trembling voice, "Okay. Don't be impulsive."

"Mu Chili, do you love me?" Song Zhishu asked with a smile, slowly moving the knife in her hand downwards.

He hadn't expected the girl in front of him to ask that question, and for a moment he didn't know how to answer. In that instant of hesitation, Song Zhishu's smile widened, and with a swift movement, another cut appeared on his frighteningly white arm.

Mu Chili opened her mouth, but swallowed the words that were about to come out.

She smiled again and asked, "Mu Chili, do you love me?"

He was almost driven mad by Song Zhishu: "Ashu, stop it, put down the knife..." He still didn't believe Song Zhishu would threaten to kill herself, but then he saw another gruesome wound on her arm. Song Zhishu's expression was calm, but the look in her eyes was obsessively gentle: "Mu Chili, do you love me?"

Mu Chili gritted her teeth, clearly unwilling to admit the flutter in her heart. They were siblings…

Song Zhishu finally understood. She placed the knife on her wrist, watched as Mu Chili's expression changed drastically, and then gave her a bright smile. She whispered, "Goodbye, Mu Chili."

Mu Chili stood there blankly, holding the gradually cooling corpse in her arms, a warm smile on her face that she loved to show.

Just minutes ago, he experienced a nightmare he would never forget.

Song Zhishu lay in his arms, her voice terribly hoarse from not drinking water for so long. She looked at him quietly and said, "Mu Chili, you must find a girl who moves your heart in the future. When she is in danger, drop everything and rush to save her without hesitation." Song Zhishu stroked his cheek, her eyes finally reflecting sorrow, just like that warmest night they had spent together: "Don't let her walk the path I walked, repeating my mistakes."

Finally, as if making a vow, her eyes held an unprecedented tenderness: "Mu Chili, I love you." Her hand slowly fell to her sides, and she closed her eyes, forever etching the man with whom she had devoted her entire life of tenderness into her memory.

He gently kissed the forehead of the person in his arms, as if he were doing the most solemn thing in the world.

Later, the eldest son of the Song family disappeared. When the police found him, he was still staring longingly at the person lying in the ice coffin. The whole house was dilapidated, but the ice coffin was intact. Inside, a woman with an exquisite face had a smile that could melt anything, but there was no trace of human life on her face.

Mu Chili was disheveled and reeked of a foul stench; his filthy face had obscured his once striking good looks. At that moment, he was feeding the "girl" porridge, his eyes filled with star-like anticipation: "A-Shu, is the porridge I made delicious?"

Everyone thought he was crazy, and that was indeed the case. He suddenly went berserk while they were taking the ice coffin away, and three policemen almost couldn't subdue him.

“Don’t take my Ashu away… Ashu… Ashu… Ashu, please don’t abandon me, Ashu!” he cried out desperately from behind.

Gradually, he calmed down and sat alone on the cold floor, tears welling up in his eyes: "Ashu... I love you."

Later, he truly felt like he was living a life worse than death.
