Chapter 50, The Ecstasy of Drunkenness (Part 1)
The roar of the engines grew closer, and the crowd waiting at the finish line couldn't help but look into the distance. Soon, two white racing cars sped towards them. However, to everyone's surprise, the one in the lead wasn't the ever-leading Tommy, but Franklin and his Dodge STR8. The result was obvious: Franklin had won the race. The crowd erupted in cheers and screams. The two cars returned to the open space and stopped. Tommy got out of his car and slowly walked to Franklin's car. Franklin and Rice quickly followed suit. Tommy faced Franklin... Lin said, "You won! You're strong. I won't bother Rice anymore!" He turned to leave, but Franklin called after him, "Wait, are you treating her like a trophy? Shouldn't we respect her feelings? Don't worry, you can continue pursuing her, but I hope you won't cause her any trouble!" Rice felt incredibly sweet inside after hearing Franklin's words. Tompuney glanced at Franklin, smiled, and said, "I will, brother!" Then he mounted his Annis Elegy RH8 Nismo and drove off gracefully!
Franklin turned to Rice and smiled, "Beautiful lady, I have fulfilled my mission. Would you do me the honor of having a drink with me?"
Rice happily replied, "Great!" The two then got into the car and headed to the nearest bar.
Once at the bar, the two ordered some drinks and started chatting.
"You've gotten a tan," Franklin joked, looking at Rice, who was sipping her drink. (Rice is a beautiful Black woman, as mentioned earlier!) Rice didn't seem to care much about her skin color. She laughed and said, "You seem to have gotten a tan too! But at least your car is white." They looked at each other and couldn't help but laugh.
"How was the race tonight?" Franklin changed the subject, looking at Rice with the curiosity of a child. Rice thought for a moment, then replied seriously, "The race tonight was very intense. The more intense the race, the greater the danger. At those speeds, a serious deviation while turning could lead to a fatal crash. So I hope you won't drive like that again. I'm worried..."
"What are you worried about? Are you worried that I'll never have another chance to be with you?" Franklin asked, staring intently into Rice's eyes.
"Who wants to be with you..." Rice blushed as she finished speaking, realizing how clumsy her words had been. It was as if she had inadvertently confessed.
Franklin was amused by this and said, "Then I'll drive slower from now on. Don't worry, I still need to stay alive to be with you!"
“Hmm.” This time, Rice didn’t object. The two chatted and laughed as they spent the evening’s prime time. Franklin was very happy tonight. For the first time since coming to this world, he felt that it was so real. Only when he was with Rice did he feel like he was still the same person he used to be, not “Franklin.” They both drank quite a bit, especially Franklin, who was already a little drunk! He vaguely felt Rice helping him into the car, and of course, Rice was driving. Although she had also drunk quite a bit, she was clearly more suitable to drive than Franklin now.
With a slight buzz from the alcohol, and seeing Rice swaying intently as he drove in the driver's seat, Franklin had clearly drunk too much that night; his brain was completely muddled. He felt very tired and exhausted, and as if something was pressing down on his eyelids, Franklin drifted off to sleep without realizing it!
Rice kept glancing at Franklin along the way. Since they were both Black, there was no racial prejudice involved. On the contrary, she thought Franklin was handsome and talented, and felt very secure with him! There were few cars on the road at night, so the powerful Dodge SRT8 could move freely and quickly arrived at Rice's house. (She didn't know where Franklin lived, so… it's cliché, but exciting, isn't it?)
Rice smiled slightly as she looked at Franklin, who was slumped in the passenger seat. She helped the unsteady Franklin back to her home. Little did she know that a gust of cold wind had sobered Franklin up considerably as soon as they stepped out of the car, but why not let such a considerate and beautiful woman take care of him? Rice took out her keys from her pocket, opened the door, and the lights came on. She then helped the drunk Franklin to her bed.
Franklin lay on Rice's bed, took off his coat, covered himself with the blanket, and went to the bathroom to take a shower. As soon as he lay down, he smelled a pleasant fragrance. Due to the alcohol, he was already in a rather excited state. Feeling that Rice had left, Franklin opened his eyes and looked at Rice's room. It was very clean and tidy; clearly, the owner was a very clean and tidy woman.
Rice quickly rushed back, sat down by the bed, and was finally able to observe the man up close.
With his angular facial features and neat hairstyle, despite his dark complexion, he exuded a seriousness that emanated from his brows. Whether drunk or sober, Rice felt a complex mix of emotions when facing this man, a feeling that was both intense and throbbing.
"Why do you already have a girlfriend?" Rice gently leaned closer to Franklin's face, gazing at him intently, her eyelashes fluttering, her eyes sparkling. Although Rice was genuinely expressing her feelings, Franklin wasn't so calm upon hearing her words! Franklin thought, "She actually knows about Tracy's existence! Looks like this girl had someone investigate! Impressive! How should I tell her?" Just as Franklin was pondering this, Rice began to reminisce.
She could never forget their first meeting—this man she used as a shield! And how intimate she had been with him! She would never forget that victory in the competition, and his passionate kiss! All of this had deeply captivated her!
But the man she had ever liked first and foremost already had a girlfriend. Looking at Franklin's face, Rice strengthened her resolve: So what if he has a girlfriend? She was determined to be with him!
Rice cautiously extended her slender fingers, her face flushed; she had drunk quite a bit, after all. Her heart pounded faster as she stroked Franklin's cheek, the delicate contours tracing her fingers. She whispered, "Franklin, even though you have a girlfriend, I won't give up. I want to be with you!" These words seemed to be spoken to Franklin, yet also to herself! But just then, a hand grasped her small hand…
