Chapter 29 (Knowing the Subtle) My Beloved (Part 2)

Kavi reached out and grabbed Elhesen's shawl, looking at him with a determined gaze, as if waiting for an answer.

Her moist red eyes were hazy, as if they were soaked in water, which made her look somewhat pitiful. After a night of commotion, Elhesen was inevitably a bit disheveled. His clothes were wrinkled from holding Kavi, and even his usually elegant cloak was crooked and out of shape.

Elheisen didn't know what to say and remained silent for a while. Unexpectedly, he patted Kavi's head. It was very gentle, like a sudden spring breeze on a snow-capped mountain, bringing blossoms to thousands of trees and the nascent revival of all things. It was a gentleness that Kavi had never perceived so clearly before, and it was also a gentleness that he found incredibly incredible.

After patting Kavi's head, Elhesen fed him the hangover medicine. This time, Kavi didn't resist and obediently drank all the medicine, following Elhesen's hand. Then, his bright red eyes looked at Elhesen, as if waiting for a reward.

Elheisen glanced at Kavi, said nothing, and simply left the room. Kavi watched Elheisen leave, feeling disappointed and saddened. He then curled up into a ball, like a wounded rabbit, his eyes red, hugging himself tightly.

However, the little rabbit with red eyes didn't grieve for long, because Elhesen soon returned. Having changed into his pajamas, he easily picked up the little bunny Kavi from the bed and strode towards his room.

Feeling Elhesen's heartbeat and his slightly elevated body temperature, Kavi felt a sense of relief. The grievances and sadness from before seemed to have been swept away by a strong wind, leaving only contentment. The little drunkard rubbed his soft cheek against Elhesen's collar, and he could faintly hear Elhesen's soft laughter.

When Kavi was carried to Elhesen's bed, he was somewhat bewildered. He rarely came to Elhesen's room, and he assumed that Elhesen probably wouldn't allow others into his private space. Feeling the softness of the bed and surrounded by Elhesen's scent, Kavi was a little at a loss.

Al-Hysen lay down on the bed, quietly holding Kavi. Even the brilliant Grand Secretary, so sharp during the day, was not immune to oversights at night. At least he didn't know that, thanks to the effectiveness of Tina's hangover remedy, Kavi was now somewhat sober.

The room was quiet for a moment, and just as Kavi was about to fall asleep, he heard Elhesen's steady voice. It sounded like he had made a great decision; his voice trembled slightly, but was very firm.

“I don’t dislike you. I only told you that the pottery you bought was of poor quality to warn you not to get ripped off. I also told you not to walk around with wet hair because I was afraid you would get sick. I don’t want to see you sick and uncomfortable…”

"...I don't like you going out drinking because I'm afraid you'll drink too much and not know the way home. If I'm not there, how can I get you home? Sometimes, when you don't notice, I secretly take your keys not to get rid of you, but because I want to see you puffed up in anger. I like your noisy side..."

"It's not that I hate you, it's that I like you. I like you, Kavi."

Alhesen's voice echoed in the quiet bedroom, shocking and alarming Kavi, who didn't know what to do. Kavi had always harbored some affection for Alhesen, but Alhesen's coldness towards him led him to believe that Alhesen disliked him.

He lamented his unrequited love and even considered giving up. Little did he know, Elheisen also liked him. And he was a seemingly naive and foolish one at that.

In the end, Kavi didn't say anything. Even after taking the hangover cure, the price of a brief period of sobriety was rapid drowsiness. Before he could figure out how to answer, Kavi fell asleep.

In the early morning, the sunlight pours down like a light veil, intimate and tender.

Kavi woke up in Elhesen's arms, momentarily disoriented, but his memory quickly returned, and he remembered what had happened the night before. Elhesen had been expecting Kavi to question him upon waking, but seeing Kavi's unusual reaction, he sensed something was amiss.

Watching Kavi leave in a panic, Elhesen seemed to be deep in thought.

In the days that followed, Elhesen gradually intruded into Kavi's life. Unbeknownst to Kavi, he reduced his drunken outings, stopped wandering around soaking wet, and even began to passively respond to Elhesen. Whenever Kavi tried to resist Elhesen, the image of Elhesen's trembling, almost weeping confession from that night echoed in his mind. Therefore, Kavi somewhat avoided but did not reject Elhesen's gradual approach. He even listened to Elhesen's advice on some matters.

Finally, Elheisen couldn't resist taking the initiative. He cornered the somewhat timid Kavi against the wall, "You remember what I said that night, right, Senior Kavi?"

With nowhere to hide, Kavi finally nodded helplessly.

"And what's your answer?" Elhesen stared intently at Kavi, his tone firm and unwavering.

Seeing Elheisen's gaze, Kavi inexplicably recalled the junior schoolmate who had watched him from years ago. That junior schoolmate, who resembled a little gray weasel and seemed incredibly well-behaved to him. Kavi thought of their past intimacy, of their subsequent cold divergence… many things came to mind, ultimately settling on his present life.

She was indeed very obedient, always showing love in subtle ways, silently protecting herself, and even her occasional gentleness made Kavi somewhat infatuated. However, she wasn't entirely obedient either; at least, her current overbearing attitude wasn't.

But so what? There's no denying that I like him too, Kavi pondered. When did it begin?

It might have been the first time I drank his coffee in the early morning, or when he brought me home drunk, or when he brought me home when I was bankrupt and lost... There are too many to count. Kavi thought carefully, I can't refuse him, and I don't want to refuse him, I like him.

"I like you too."

In the end, Kavi gave Elhesen the answer he had been waiting for.

Perhaps it was a fleeting glance years ago that sealed their fate. Through a series of coincidences, they met again, and their hearts fluttered. They were each other's soulmates, people who loved each other and were meant to be together.

A small follow-up.

"Quickly, quickly, lower your head, lower your head!" Kavi, suddenly excited, said to Elhesen, making gestures as if calling to a small animal.

Seeing Kavi so happy for some unknown reason, Elhesen felt a little confused, but considering that Kavi had been very obedient lately and hadn't caused any major trouble, he put down what he was doing and went over. He bent down slightly and lowered his head.

Kavi reached out and patted Elheisen's head. Thinking Kavi was about to play a prank, Elheisen's face instantly went blank when his head was patted. Seeing Elheisen's adorable expression, Kavi lowered his hand and laughed so hard he clutched his stomach.

"You're so funny, you really look like a gray weasel. Hahahaha... Hey, what are you doing!" Kavi, who was laughing happily, was scooped up by Elhesen, who reached inside the back of Kavi's clothes and kept stroking him.

"You've touched me, now it's my turn to touch you."

Poor Kavi was bullied by Elhesen again.
