on Monday

Yueqing has five classes today!

Yueqing has finished washing up and is now waiting at home for her father to go to school together.

Du Yueqing wore a blue top and wide-leg pants today, and her shoulder-length short hair was slightly curled.

She looks both charming and capable.

As soon as Yueqing entered the school office, the teachers' eyes were drawn to her as if by a magnet.

"Good morning, Teacher Du! You look as beautiful as ever today!" Teacher Wang Mingfeng, who teaches the same class as Yueqing, greeted her warmly.

Good morning, Teacher Wang.

After Yueqing and Wang Mingfeng greeted each other, they looked at the other teachers in the office and asked, "Good morning, everyone. Have you all had breakfast yet?"

Du Yueqing flashed a bright smile at the people in the office.

Being complimented on my looks first thing in the morning will definitely put me in a great mood, and I'll be happy all day long!

Someone chimed in, "You ate it all, Yueqing. How many classes do you have this morning?"

Du Yueqing replied with a smile, "I have two Chinese classes this morning, one for Class 2 and one for Class 4."

Du Yueqing put the two steamed buns and soy milk she bought in the morning on the table, and then stuffed her backpack into the drawer under the table.

Then he exclaimed, "Hey, if I didn't have class this morning, I wouldn't have come so early!"

"That's right, that's right, it's cool in the morning, perfect for sleeping." Everyone chatted and laughed.

Yueqing sat in her seat, eating the breakfast she had just bought. After filling her somewhat empty stomach, she prepared to start working.

It wasn't until noon, after school, that Yueqing came to the bike shed to wait for Du Jianxin to go home together.

Along the way, the students were a little scared when they saw Du Jianxin. Although they felt close to Du Yueqing, they didn't dare to go up and greet her.

Some students saw it but quickly pretended not to see it and took a detour; others saw it but just nodded from afar and ran away.

There was no way around it; Du Jianxin was very serious at school, and the students were all afraid of being remembered by him. It wouldn't be good if they made a mistake and he caught them.

What students fear most at school is the feeling of being restricted; they involuntarily become uneasy whenever they get close to the dean of students.

Yueqing, who was riding her bike alongside Du Jianxin, jokingly teased her father, "Dad, you're not very popular at school. You're not well-liked by the students. Look, people avoid you whenever they see you."

Du Jianxin glared at his daughter. "Don't talk nonsense. It's the head of student affairs who's unpopular, not me. I used to be very popular with students." He wouldn't admit to being unpopular.

Yueqing questioned, "Really? I thought it was because you were too serious at school, and the students were all afraid of you!"

Du Jianxin explained, "Was I being serious? I was just doing my job, and you have to be serious and responsible when you're doing your job!"

Du Jianxin thought that he himself was still very kind and approachable.

The two rode their bikes home slowly and leisurely. As soon as they entered the house, Yueqing was still changing her shoes in the entryway.

He called out loudly, "Mom, is dinner ready?"

As soon as Du's mother brought her grandson home and entered the kitchen, she heard her daughter's anxious voice.

She said irritably, "I just got home, what's so nice about that? I'm not your Du family's maid. If you want to eat early, hurry up and change your shoes and come in to help!"

"I cook all this for myself, and your whole family eats it. So I'm just your father and daughter's housekeeper? You're always causing trouble..."

Du Yueqing and her father exchanged a glance, and the same thought popped into their minds at the same time: Mom (wife) isn't in a very good mood today.

So, Lao Du obediently went to the kitchen to help, while Xiao Du pretended to go find a broom to sweep the floor. Anyway, when the lady of the house was in a bad mood, the Du family dared not slack off.

Otherwise, everyone in the Du family would suffer; this is a hard-earned lesson learned by the father and daughter over many years.

Wang Anzhao was playing with building blocks in the living room. As soon as he saw his mother coming, he immediately ran over like a little monkey.

Wang Anzhao opened her arms to Yueqing and called out in a childish voice, "Mommy, hug me."

Yueqing glanced at her son, then at the broom in her hand, and then at her father who had already gone into the kitchen. Without hesitation, she threw down the broom and went to play with her son.

Du Jianxin leaned closer to his mother and asked in a low voice, "What's wrong with you today? Why are you so irritable?"

The moment the topic came up, Du's mother's anger flared up. "What else? It's all because of those gossipy women in the neighborhood. So what if my daughter got divorced? Did she eat their rice? They have nothing better to do than spread rumors about other people's business."

As Mrs. Du spoke, she became increasingly angry. What did her daughter's behavior have to do with them? She and Mr. Du were happy to spoil her.

These people call themselves cultured people in public, but in Du's mother's eyes, when they gossip about other people's affairs, they're no better than gossips.

Seeing his wife's face flushed with anger, Du Jianxin, fearing she might harm her health, quickly comforted her:

"Alright, alright, calm down. If you get sick from getting angry, our whole family will be heartbroken. Just ignore what others say and don't take it to heart. You're magnanimous, don't hold it against them."

"You've known these people for decades, how could you not know who they are?"

Hearing her husband's advice, Du's mother angrily threw the vegetables in her hand into the basket and started scolding her husband as well.

She muttered under her breath, "Du Jianxin, what are you doing? People are talking badly about my daughter, and I'm supposed to be magnanimous? Do I look like such a magnanimous person?"

"I'm telling you all this so you'll stand on my side, not so you'll be a pushover. If I'd known you'd be like this, why would I have told you all this?"

After saying those words, Du Jianxin felt a little regretful. He was used to it, dealing with these kinds of things all the time at school.

He just wanted everyone to get along well. As a teacher, he believed in prioritizing harmony and resolving conflicts peacefully rather than escalating them.

Sure enough, Mrs. Du was still seething with anger.

She continued to complain in a low voice, "Every time something happens in my family, people in the neighborhood gossip about me in front of me, completely disregarding me."

“I want to go up and argue with you, but you keep telling me to let it go and act like it doesn’t matter. What? Are you trying to ascend to heaven? So you don’t care about worldly matters?”

"My daughter and I were bullied, so what? We deserved it? Even if you try to be a peacemaker behind the scenes, people won't think you're cultured; they'll just call you an idiot."

In the end, Mrs. Du became sarcastic.

"Hmph, I'm not like you. I can't stand this kind of treatment. If anyone dares to gossip about my family in front of me again, I'll tear them apart right now. They're all a bunch of crazy people."

When Mrs. Du talked to her husband about these things, she wanted him to stand on her side, not for him to pretend to be a good person and persuade her to be magnanimous.
