Reborn in the 1970s, Zhang Sanniu's new life

The New Year is finally almost here! Today is Lunar New Year's Eve. It's snowing heavily outside. San Niu and her family are all huddled together in the kitchen making dumplings!

"Oh my, this year is so good! In the past, we would only eat dumplings with egg and cabbage at most during the Spring Festival, and we would feel very happy. Who would have thought that our family would be able to eat pork dumplings this year?" Wang Cuihua exclaimed.

“Yes, last year during Chinese New Year, everyone in our family got six dumplings. I ate six dumplings, but I wasn’t even half full. I had to drink two bowls of dumpling soup before I was full,” Zhang Laosan said.

"Dad, let's all eat our fill today!" San Niu said.

"Then I can eat two big bowls!" Erniu said happily, raising her hand.

"Alright, I'll let you eat two big bowls," Wang Cuihua said!

On New Year's Eve this year, San Niu's family ate pork dumplings, and everyone ate their fill!

That evening, Wang Cuihua cooked six more dishes: braised pork, braised spare ribs, braised chicken, stewed pork with sauerkraut, stir-fried cabbage, and stewed tofu with pig's blood. The whole family gathered around to enjoy the sumptuous dinner. Zhang Laosan and Wang Cuihua were so happy that they even drank two glasses of wine!

After dinner, Da Niu and Er Niu took the firecrackers that Zhang Lao San had bought for them and set them off at the gate.

San Niu was overjoyed to see Daniu and Er Niu happily setting off firecrackers in the snow and to hear their laughter. She felt especially happy!

In their previous life, the three sisters lived in poverty and were unhappy. Zhang Laosan and Wang Cuihua did not have a son and were poor. Even after San Niu fell ill and died, the couple did not live well. San Niu hoped that everyone in this generation would live happily and fulfilling lives!

That night, Zhang Laosan and Wang Cuihua lay in bed. "Dad, we're so happy now. I'm so glad!" Wang Cuihua said.

"Yes, I'm happy too. We're happy today, so let's do something happy. Zhang Laosan flips over and pins Wang Cuihua down!"

The next day, the first day of the Lunar New Year, before dawn, the whole family got up, set off firecrackers, cooked dumplings, and after eating the dumplings, the new year began!

The eldest and second eldest daughters, happily dressed in their new clothes and eating candy, went out to wish people a Happy New Year. The third eldest daughter, who didn't like crowds, went back to her room to sleep.

The next day, after the whole family finished breakfast, they put on their new clothes, brought gifts, and headed to Wangjia Village to visit relatives!

San Niu's whole family arrived at Wangjia Village, where Wang Dayong was waiting outside the gate!

"Brother-in-law, you're all here! Are you cold? Come inside!" Wang Dayong said.

"Big brother, eldest uncle, and San Niu have all finished greeting everyone and gone inside!"

"Oh dear! Come in quickly! Knowing you were coming, your father lit the brazier early this morning," said Old Lady Wang.

"Here, this is your uncle. He bought some candy, melon seeds, and peanuts. Take them and have some," said your aunt.

"You and Xiaocui, hurry up and cook!" Wang Dayong said.

"Okay, I'll go right away. Auntie, hurry up and cook!"

"Is your land ready yet? When are you planning to start building the house?" Old Wang asked.

"Dad, the land has been prepared, and it's been measured out to be twenty-five mu!" Wang Cuihua said happily!

"Twenty-five mu, that's so much! We only asked for three mu before, and the village chief wouldn't agree. How come you've suddenly given us so much?" Old Wang exclaimed.

"That's because my third daughter is so capable! Wang Cuihua told them what the village officials from Zhangjia Village had said!"

"Wow, San Niu gets things done so well, you really have to admire her!" Wang Dayong said, giving a thumbs up.

"Grandpa, on the fourth day of the new year, you and Uncle should both come to my house to help out. First, go to the brick factory to buy bricks, then find someone to build the house. By the way, I want the house to be built in front of where we live. Then, the whole area around where we live will be covered with livestock farms, so that it won't smell too bad in front of us," San Niu said.

"Okay, let's go early on the fourth day," Wang Dayong said!

“From now on, you’ll need to help out at my house often. We’ll be building the house, and we need to start collecting and slaughtering pigs on the fifth or sixth day of the new year. We need to deliver the pork to the county town and the provincial capital early on the seventh day. So we need to prepare in advance,” San Niu said.

“Okay, then we’ll stay at your house every day, just like before the New Year,” said Old Wang.

After agreeing on the arrangements, San Niu and the others returned after enjoying a hearty lunch!

It snowed heavily for a day and a night. The snow on the road was thick and difficult to walk on. In such cold weather, San Niu and the others were covered in sweat when they got home!

When San Niu and the others got home, they took out their textbooks and studied diligently. Zhang Laosan was worried that they would be cold, so he specially lit a brazier and put it in the room for them!

Soon it was the fourth day of the Lunar New Year. Old Man Wang and Wang Dayong came over early in the morning without eating breakfast!

After having breakfast at San Niu's house, they went to the brick factory to buy bricks.

Zhang Laosan and the others didn't return until noon. Just then, Wang Cuihua had finished cooking, and everyone ate in the kitchen!

After finishing the meal, Zhang Laosan said, "The bricks are settled. They'll be two cents a piece, and the brick factory will deliver them to my home. I've ordered 50,000 bricks to start, and I'll order more if needed. They'll start delivering on the sixth day of the new year!"

"Okay, then you guys go find them this afternoon. They're building houses. They started construction yesterday, the sixth day of the Lunar New Year. They're building houses, San Niu said!"

"Aren't we supposed to go to buy a car and go to the provincial capital to discuss delivering meat on the sixth day of the Lunar New Year? Are you sure you can manage all that?" Zhang Laosan asked.

"It's alright, Grandpa and Uncle are at home watching over things! Let's go on our way," San Niu said!

"What? You want to buy a car? What kind of car do you want? Do you have enough money?" Wang Dayong asked.

“If we don’t buy a truck, how will we deliver meat to the provincial capital? I’ve taken care of the money. I borrowed five thousand yuan from each of the factories in the provincial capital to buy the kind of truck I borrowed to deliver goods for us. Grandpa Liu has already spoken to the people in advance for me, so don’t worry!” San Niu said.

"How about I give you the 20,000 yuan from my family first?" Wang Dayong said.

"No need, Uncle, I've already told them I'll pay them back once I earn the money," San Niu said.

Zhang Laosan knew that his family had the money to buy the car and hadn't borrowed any. However, after hearing what San Niu said, he didn't say anything. He felt that San Niu must have a reason for saying that!
