Chapter 100: God-like Intuition
"This is not scientific!!"
At first, they thought it was just a simple coincidence, but as time went by, Sun Xiaoman caught more and more people, and it was hard for them not to believe it.
A quick glance at the crowd is enough to identify repeat offenders, thieves, and even counterfeit sellers.
Even more outrageous, they had just caught a tomb raider who looked completely bewildered when he saw them, because he had just arrived to buy tools and hadn't even started making any business before being arrested.
The tomb raider looked utterly aggrieved. "I just bought the items, I haven't even taken a single job yet, how did I get arrested by the law enforcement team?"
The baby is suffering inside, but he won't say anything because he feels guilty...
In the end, this guy was arrested on charges of attempted tomb raiding and will be detained for at least half a month to give him a good scolding.
The new recruits became increasingly shocked as time went on, eventually becoming numb and arresting whoever the law enforcement pointed at.
When something incredible happens to us for the first time, we are shocked. When it happens a second time, we are still shocked. When it happens ten times, we become numb. And after that, nothing happens anymore.
This passage perfectly describes the psychological changes of these rookie team members. At first, they thought it was unscientific, but later, they gradually accepted the premise.
With a mere gesture from the law enforcement officer, the criminals had nowhere to hide. For the first time today, they realized that solving a case could be as simple as eating and drinking.
But why do they always feel a bit of a tightness in their chest?
The days of outsmarting and outmaneuvering various criminals are gone forever, and they suddenly feel like they're living like salted fish.
All the professional knowledge we've acquired over the years seems to have been wasted; the combined efforts of several people are not as effective as the intuition of law enforcement officers.
The veteran member of the law enforcement team looked at the new recruits with a hint of schadenfreude, remembering how they had all gone through the same process.
Using law enforcement officers to discipline newcomers has almost become a routine practice for law enforcement agencies.
These veteran players were tricked in the past, so naturally they would also like to trick these newcomers.
Several rookie team members are still squatting on the ground, silently questioning their existence: Who am I? Where am I? What is the meaning of my life?
Was all the knowledge we learned in the past false? Should we, like law enforcement officers, rely on luck to arrest people in the future?
A series of questions arose in their minds, and they were all a little stuck.
"Don't worry, even the intuition of law enforcement officers isn't omnipotent. Sometimes they can find the culprit but can't produce evidence. That's when we have to step in."
The veteran team member forced the three of them to drink a bowl of chicken soup, and their expressions improved a little. At least they felt they had some effect.
If they were really made to follow law enforcement officers around like shadows all day long, without having to think about anything but arresting people, wouldn't they be incredibly frustrated?
Zhang Yue and the others finally understood why the veteran team members were unwilling to come. The reason was simple: it was too discouraging, so discouraging that they questioned their existence.
However, they got used to it. As they gradually accepted the situation, when Sun Xiaoman pointed out the murderer on Bailu Street, they were surprisingly unmoved, as if it were the natural thing to do.
"Hmph, this guy doesn't look like a good person at all. Men, arrest him!" Sun Xiaoman pointed at the shifty-eyed man and hissed.
Zhang Yue and the others exchanged glances, all able to see the helplessness in each other's eyes.
They weren't doubting the veracity of the law enforcement officer's judgment, but rather felt that her reasoning was far-fetched. Even if they believed it, others would have to believe it too!
The man opposite him looked as if he had eaten shit, and said with a forced smile, "Sir, arresting someone requires evidence. I am clearly the victim."
The man was the one who tried to extort money from the stall owner with blue crystals. When he saw the law enforcement team members arrive, he panicked.
But he knew that he needed to stay calm, especially in times like these, because if he panicked, he would easily reveal his weakness.
As he spoke, the man winked at the stall owner: "Brother, this is a matter between our two families. It wouldn't be good to make a big fuss about it, wouldn't you say?"
The stall owner understood what the man meant; he intended to settle the matter privately and didn't want to escalate it.
The stall owner was also conflicted. If things escalated, it would be bad for everyone. There would be lawsuits, detention, and most importantly, it would severely damage his reputation.
They say good news doesn't travel far, but bad news travels fast. When a lot of people are around, whether he's selling counterfeit goods or not won't be up to him to decide. Who knows what those idle people will say about him behind his back?
But if we settle this privately, who knows what other trouble this person might cause?
The man had just demanded that he compensate everyone present with a blue crystal, using this as an excuse to win over these complete strangers and force them onto his side.
This tactic is definitely that of a seasoned veteran. If they were to clash underground, he would definitely fall into this person's trap again, and might even lose his life savings.
The stall owner gritted his teeth, bowed respectfully to the enforcement team members, and said, "I beg you gentlemen of the enforcement team to do me justice!"
He was terrified by the man's actions and didn't want to get entangled with him privately. Now he could only hope that the law enforcement team could handle the case as soon as possible and minimize the impact of this matter. If all else failed, he could simply move to Chishui Street in a while and continue selling resources.
"Oh," Sun Xiaoman replied indifferently, looking listless, as if she hadn't woken up yet.
To be honest, she didn't like running around all day catching people; it was not only tiring but also incredibly troublesome.
However, given her terrifying intuition, Zhu Yu wouldn't let go of a criminal nemesis like Sun Xiaoman; leaving her idle would be a huge waste of resources.
Putting aside combat capabilities, in terms of solving cases alone, Sun Xiaoman alone is equivalent to hundreds of well-trained law enforcement team members. She can catch criminals almost every time, and she's incredibly fast.
If this were a game, Sun Xiaoman would be like a level 100 god returning to the newbie village, making it incredibly easy for her to bully the newbies.
"You guys, take him in later."
Zhang Yue and his companions knew who Sun Xiaoman was referring to, so they quickly subdued the man and prepared to take him to the police station.
The shifty-eyed man was still somewhat bewildered. Why was the enforcement team only arresting him? Shouldn't they have arrested the stall owner as well and interrogated them together?
The man wasn't stupid; after a moment of confusion, he realized that the man had identified him as the criminal!
"No, sir, arrests require evidence. I'm clearly the victim! You can't do this, you can't do this... Waaah~~"
His mouth had been sealed shut with white tape by the veteran member of the enforcement team. He had seen plenty of people like this who were stubborn to the end. Once they were taken to the station, he would use a few tricks to make him confess all his accomplices.
