The mysterious CEO's endless pampering

Chapter 460 Let me tell you the truth.

The next day, Elsa arrived at the coffee shop where Xie Tingrui and she had agreed to meet on time.

As soon as Elsa entered the private room, she greeted him very warmly. Under these circumstances, if she wanted to have any close contact with Li Zhanting, she definitely had to get on good terms with Xie Tingrui first. "Rui, you're here really early. Am I late?"

Xie Tingrui said calmly, "No, you're not late, you're on time."

Elsa smiled brightly, "That's good. There was a bit of traffic on the way here, and I was worried I'd be late."

Xie Tingrui pointed to the desserts and coffee on the table and said, "No matter when you come, I will wait for you. Sit down, Elsa. I ordered your favorite cheesecake and cappuccino."

"Thank you, Rui, for remembering what I like. Unlike Zhan, he even forgot such an important promise to me," Elsa said with a somewhat sorrowful expression.

"Elsa, the reason I called you out today is to help Zhan clarify things. I hope you won't be too upset after hearing it, since that agreement was a misunderstanding." Although Xie Tingrui didn't want to hurt Elsa so soon after their reunion, some things had to be made clear.

Elsa's hand, which was holding the coffee, froze. "Misunderstanding? How could it be a misunderstanding? Is it because Zhan is already married and has a wife that he says it's a misunderstanding? But he clearly promised to wait for me until I'm thirty and marry me. Why did he betray me?"

Xie Tingrui looked at her sharply and said, "Elsa, we all know what kind of man Li Zhanting is. If he really made that promise to you, he wouldn't have a wife now. Obviously, he didn't know about that agreement at all, so there was no such thing as marrying you."

"No, there was a promise. I remember it clearly on my birthday that day. Zhan nodded in agreement!" Elsa refused to admit that the promise she regarded as the light of her life could be a misunderstanding.

Xie Tingrui didn't want her to overthink anymore. "Did he nod in front of you? Are you sure he really heard you when you said those words of confession?"

"I...I..." In that instant, Elsa's memory seemed to be inaccurate. She couldn't seem to remember what Li Zhanting's reaction was at the time, only that he had nodded.

Xie Tingrui knew from her expression that Elsa had misunderstood why Li Zhanting had nodded back then.

He sighed deeply and said, "You can't remember, can you? Fine, then I'll tell you the truth."

Then Xie Tingrui and she recalled what the scene must have looked like.

Elsa's face grew paler with each passing word Xie Tingrui uttered.

How could this be? Why did this happen?!

If Xie Tingrui's words are true, then what has been the purpose of her persistence over the past five years?

Elsa suddenly felt a splitting headache and her whole body was in a tense state.

She kept denying what Xie Tingrui said, "No, that's impossible, that's not the truth. Zhan loves me, he promised to marry me, he promised!"

Xie Tingrui was afraid that Elsa would become too emotional after learning the truth, so he wanted to act as a mediator and clarify things himself.

Otherwise, if Li Zhanting had come to tell her in person, she would have definitely collapsed on the spot. After all, it was a love she had cherished for five years. Now, suddenly telling her that it was just a misunderstanding, anyone else would have been unable to accept it.

“Elsa, that’s the truth, so you have to understand that no matter if Zhan is married now or not, he won’t marry you because he doesn’t love you.” Xie Tingrui felt that a short, sharp pain was better than a long, drawn-out one, and he wanted Elsa to realize her own feelings.

He doesn't love her... He doesn't love her...

These four words suddenly seemed like a death warrant, causing Elsa to lose consciousness and faint.

Xie Tingrui was startled when he saw Elsa suddenly go limp. "Elsa, Elsa! What's wrong with you!"

Elsa was completely unresponsive at this point.

Xie Tingrui thought that Elsa would at most be sad and upset, but he didn't expect her to faint directly. He couldn't help but feel guilty and remorseful.

Then they quickly picked the person up and took them to the hospital.

After a hospital examination, it was said that the brief coma was caused by emotional distress. After receiving an IV drip, he was fine after a good night's sleep.

After confirming that Elsa was alright, Xie Tingrui left the ward and went to the corridor to call Li Zhanting. "It's over, Lao Li, I messed things up."

Li Zhanting was looking at the documents in his hand and was completely unaware of what Xie Tingrui was talking about. "What is it?"

Xie Tingrui said helplessly, "No, you haven't forgotten what I did today, have you? Honestly, it was about you and Elsa, of course."

Li Zhanting, however, said righteously, "There's nothing between us."

"I knew you and she were fine, so I came to talk to her and clear things up for you. Who knew she was so sensitive? She fainted from the excitement and is now in the hospital on an IV drip... Do you think I was too direct and scared her? I should have been more tactful." Xie Tingrui still felt a little guilty.

Li Zhanting didn't think so. "You did a great job. Come back. There's still work waiting for you at the military factory."

Xie Tingrui said, "Old Li, even if you don't have those feelings for Elsa, you can't just ignore our friendship. She fainted because of you. You didn't even come to see her, and you were so cold-blooded as to call me back too."

Li Zhanting reminded him in a low voice, "Have you forgotten what I told you yesterday?"

Xie Tingrui hesitated for a moment and said, "What we said yesterday was just our own speculation, and there was no substantial evidence. Besides, Elsa is already like this, it would be too ungentlemanly for me to just leave like this."

"She has family."

"But her family doesn't seem to take her seriously. What if things get even worse after they come?"

"Arui, when did you become so nosy? If you don't want to come back, then don't ever come back." Li Zhanting issued his ultimatum.

Xie Tingrui can be just as soft-hearted as Shen Yanran at times.

Xie Tingrui still valued Li Zhanting more, so he quickly said, "Okay, I'll contact her family right away. I'll leave once her family arrives."

Xie Tingrui found the phone in Elsa's bag, unlocked it with her fingerprint, and called her mother. "Hello, Auntie, this is Xie Tingrui, Elsa's friend. She collapsed at the hospital. Can you come over now? I'll send you the address in a bit."

When Dalia heard that Elsa was in the hospital, she panicked. "What? Elsa is in the hospital? Okay, I understand. I'm coming right now."

Dalia rushed out of the room and ran into Wilson John, who was also leaving. She hurriedly called out, "Wait, John, could you have the driver take me to the hospital?"

Wilson John turned around, frowned, and asked, "What are you doing at the hospital?"

Dalia, her face pale with anxiety, explained, "Elsa's friend called to say she fainted and was taken to the hospital. I have to go see her."

"Did her boyfriend tell you?"

"Does Elsa have a boyfriend? I don't know. Anyway, it was a man who called, I think his name was... something like Xie." Dalia was too worried about Elsa being in the hospital to remember the caller's name.

But Wilson John sensed something was wrong; the person with Elsa wasn't Li Zhanting. "Okay, I understand. Go ahead, the driver is right outside."

Dalia seemed to sense that he was a little angry, but she didn't care anymore and quickly ran out to have the driver take her to the hospital.

After Dalia left, Wilson John immediately took out his phone and had his men investigate what Li Zhanting was doing.

His subordinate quickly replied that Li Zhanting had gone to the military factory early in the morning and hadn't come out since.

So Elsa and Li Zhanting's relationship wasn't as good as she claimed. He didn't even show up when she fainted, let alone mention their wedding a month later.

Wilson John narrowed his eyes and had his men investigate Li Zhanting's situation again.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Xie Tingrui saw Elsa's mother appear and said apologetically, "I'm sorry, Auntie, I said something that made her faint from feeling unwell. But the doctor said it's nothing serious and that she should get some rest and wake up fine."

Hearing that Elsa was alright, Dalia breathed a sigh of relief, but then questioned her, "What did you say that caused my daughter so much pain? And what is your relationship with her?"

Xie Tingrui patiently explained, "I was her classmate in college. My name is Xie Tingrui. As for what I said, I'm sorry, Auntie, this concerns Elsa's privacy, so I can't tell you for now. If you really want to know, you can ask Elsa to wake up and let her tell you. I'm sorry, I have to go now."

Dalia wanted to ask Xie Tingrui about Elsa's boyfriend, but he didn't give her the chance and left after saying that.

She had no choice but to wait until Elsa woke up.

And so they waited until it got dark.

When Elsa woke up, she saw that everything around her was white, and she knew that she had been admitted to the hospital.

Dalia noticed that Elsa had woken up and immediately asked with concern, "My dear Elsa, how are you? Are you still feeling unwell?"

Elsa asked weakly, "Mother, why have you come?"

Dalia explained softly, "It was your college classmate who called to tell me, and said that you fainted because of something he said. What exactly happened?"

Elsa didn't want to talk about it anymore. "It's nothing."

Dalia, still uneasy, pressed on, "Elsa, tell Mom the truth, is he your boyfriend? Did you two have a fight that caused you to faint?"
