Traveling through the game world
Chapter 70 The Future Is Changed
"Is this really a world hundreds of years in the future?" After centuries, Spider Prince Nicholas finally returned to the surface, muttering to himself. Everything before him was completely different from what he had seen centuries before.
Inside the drifting cave, Lian Yang used all sorts of tricks and explanations, and after much effort, Spider Prince Nicholas finally decided to come and see the surface world.
Of course, more importantly, Nicholas the Spider Prince was, after all, a prince, but even he felt the world seemed different upon waking. It was only because he harbored doubts that he was persuaded by Lian Yang. Otherwise, you couldn't possibly convince a prince no matter how much you talked; you'd be lucky if he didn't try to fool you.
Back under the blue sky, Lian Yang looked at the bewildered Nicholas and said calmly, "The world has changed, it has become dangerous. I can sense that if we don't find the source of the Destruction Era and the Black Nightmare soon, the world will be destroyed."
Lian Yang was not exaggerating. According to the side story class storylines in the game, both the Dark Knight and the Creator chose to go back to the past to save the world after its destruction.
Shrugging, Prince Nicholas the Spider said helplessly, "I don't even know why I was resurrected. I was still preparing for my battle with my sister for the throne. But you're suddenly telling me this is a world hundreds of years after my kingdom's destruction, and that the world is suffering a massive catastrophe and is about to be destroyed?"
Holding his head in his hands, Lian Yang said without turning his head, "Thinking too much is tiring. Let's go, let's go to Krent's place first. That old fox has been cunning for a long time, he should know some things."
Krent
As the Queen's special envoy, Krent didn't actually have many official duties, which is why she did some side jobs in her spare time, such as opening an equipment enhancement shop.
Watching the unlucky guy who had failed to enhance his weapon leave with a sigh, Krent turned around and saw Lian Yang and his group. He greeted them, "Lian Yang, you're something else! You've already got a new team member right at the start of your adventure in Dark City."
Dressed in a well-tailored black suit, Spider Prince Nicholas didn't really resemble a spider when he transformed into human form. It's no wonder Krent mistook him for Lian Yang's new team member.
"Hehe." Lian Yang chuckled and said, "My new team member? Maybe, but his identity will scare you to death!"
"Could he be the child of some high-ranking noble family in the Delos Empire?" Krent guessed, looking at the Spider Prince Nicholas. Nicholas's elegant and noble demeanor made it hard not to associate him with nobility. Turning his head, he added, "That doesn't make sense either. I don't recall you having any contact with high-ranking members of the Delos Empire outside of the Knights."
Seeing that his words had sparked Krent's imagination, Lian Yang chuckled and said, "Don't be surprised. This handsome man should be considered a nobleman, though from several hundred years ago. He's the Spider Prince, Nicholas. I think you've heard of him."
"What?!" Krent was clearly taken aback upon hearing the name and hurriedly said, "Wait a minute!"
After saying that, he ran into the house in a flash. Even Lian Yang, who was standing outside, could hear the clanging and rummaging of things inside.
A short while later, Krent, holding a book, approached Lian Yang and the others. He carefully examined the Spider Prince Nicholas, flipping through the pages while muttering, "So alike, so incredibly alike! My God, how did a character from hundreds of years ago come back to life?"
Suddenly remembering something, Krent looked at Lian Yang and asked, "I remember that the first stop of your drifting cave was the ruins of the Spider Kingdom. Could it be that you met there?"
There are many kingdoms underground, but the most significant are the Dark Elf Kingdom, the Dwarf Kingdom, and the Spider Kingdom, which disappeared hundreds of years ago. As the absolute highest authority of these nations, the Dark Elf Kingdom has always preserved portraits of the leaders of various countries.
It was only because of the portrait of the Spider Prince Nicholas that Krent was able to confirm that the noble young man in front of him was the Spider Prince Nicholas, which he had collected at random.
Seeing that Krent had confirmed the identity of the Spider Prince Nicholas, Lian Yang hurriedly asked, "Krent, you've become quite the multi-talented person. Now we want to know the reason for his resurrection."
Krent shook his head helplessly and said calmly, "I say you overestimate me. I really don't understand why he was able to be resurrected, but you should go and see Sharan. As the Royal Chief Archmage, Sharan is definitely very knowledgeable."
“Shalan?” Lian Yang knew this person; she was a very powerful mage, and it seemed that many characters in the later stages of the game would ask her about anything they didn’t understand regarding magic.
“Yes, that’s right!” Krent confirmed. “Going to her is the right thing to do. She’s in the Magic Guild near the central square of Dark City, not far from Kelly.”
Magicians are learned and noble beings in any plane, because they must master a vast amount of knowledge to go further in the field of magic.
To put it more closely, magic is like science, magicians are like scientists, and when it comes to knowledge, who can claim to be more learned than a scientist?
Just as they left Krent's residence, a stunningly beautiful woman walked towards them.
She was tall, easily 1.7 meters, with long, flowing purple hair that reached her hips, her face delicate and her skin fair and smooth. She carried a harp and wore a light purple dress as she slowly walked towards Lian Yang and the others.
"You...hello!" For once, Lian Yang actually took the initiative and nervously stepped forward to greet him.
"I came here specifically to see you!" the visitor said bluntly, his voice pleasant and melodious.
"Looking for...looking for me?" Lian Yang was full of questions. He was indeed amazed by the girl in front of him, and seeing her attire and long purple hair, Lian Yang was quite certain that she was Alice, the most beautiful bard in DNF.
Although he had considered the possibility of future interactions, the fact that Alice had taken the initiative to come to him still surprised Lian Yang.
Alice nodded, confirming, "Yes, it's you! I foresaw that the trajectory of the future has been altered. It's no longer as clear and sorrowful as before. The reason is you!"
Alice didn't hide it; in fact, she was the most surprised. According to her prophecy, the final outcome for the Arad continent and even the entire world wouldn't be good, and she was very pessimistic. But recently, she discovered that the previously fixed future had become uncertain. Only after careful calculation did she find the existence of Lian Yang.
"Me?" Lian Yang was genuinely surprised. Alice really did have prophetic abilities. Admittedly, Lian Yang had been trying his best to follow the main storyline, but he was also constantly changing the original plot. So, it wasn't strange that Alice said he had changed the future.
Lian Yang said calmly, "The future is the future precisely because it is uncertain. It may be good or bad, who knows? Let me introduce myself, my name is Lian Yang."
"Hello, I am the bard Alice." Alice nodded. She should have scoffed at Lian Yang's words, but she couldn't find a reason to refute them, and the original history was indeed too tragic. (Wouldn't the destruction of the world be considered a tragedy?)
Remembering that Alice was also a very knowledgeable person, and that she had answered many questions in the game, Lian Yang invited, "The man next to me is Nicholas, the prince of the Spider Kingdom from hundreds of years ago. He has recently been resurrected, and his memories are still stuck hundreds of years in the past. We are going to Sharan to find out the reason for his resurrection. How about we go together?"
Lian Yang's invitation was rather abrupt, but it came suddenly, and Alice surprisingly replied readily, "Okay, I'm also very curious as to why characters from hundreds of years ago would be resurrected."
Alice was somewhat incredulous at her own quick agreement. Although she had predicted Lian Yang's arrival countless times, this was the first time they had actually met. Despite the compelling reasons for the invitation, Alice still felt something was amiss.
At this moment, Arthur, Baron, and Alice stared blankly at Lian Yang and Alice. They didn't know much about Alice before, but Lian Yang's initiative today made them feel like they had discovered a new world.
