Those areas that nominally belong to the Dark Elf Kingdom but are actually not under its control are where Lian Yang is preparing to embark on his adventure.

Of course, while Dark City is open, the Drifting Cave remains closed; a pass is required to venture there. This is why Lian Yang specifically sought out and befriended Krent.
