Traveling through the game world

Chapter 23 Forward, to the Forgotten Forest

As the sun set, on the shore of a small lake outside the tranquil silver village, Lian Yang gazed at the golden surface of the lake bathed in the sunset, enjoying the refreshing breeze that was almost impossible to find on Earth anymore. He opened his arms, embracing the serenity of the Arnofa Forest. He murmured to himself with a touch of nostalgia, "Phew! It's time to begin a new adventure!"

Celia, who was also enjoying the sunset, couldn't help but say after hearing Lian Yang's words, "Thank you so much for everything these past few days. It's all thanks to you that Silver Village has regained its peace. Are you getting ready to leave?"

Before Lian Yang could speak, Baron, lying on the ground with a blade of grass between his teeth, said calmly, "It's not just him who wants to leave, but all three of us. We want to go to more places to adventure and see if we can lift the veil of the Black Nightmare. We can't let this Black Nightmare cause any more destruction."

Alice, who firmly believed that true love only existed between people of the same sex, never took her eyes off Celia. Her burning gaze was fixed on Celia's beautiful face and curvaceous figure as she said, her eyes gleaming, "Actually, Celia, you can come adventuring with us too. Are you really going to let a delicate beauty like me follow two crazy swordsmen?" As she spoke, she appeared pitiful, as if Little Red Riding Hood was about to be eaten by the Big Bad Wolf.

As soon as the words left her mouth, Lian Yang and Baron both shuddered. After spending some time together, everyone knew about the stunningly beautiful Alice's unusual hobbies and her unabashed belief that true love only existed between women. Lian Yang and Baron really had no intention of targeting her, let alone having any casual sex with her.

Feeling uneasy under Alice's lecherous gaze, Celia looked on nervously. They were all very good friends, and Celia was naturally aware of Alice's peculiar tastes. But still, she said expectantly, "Really? I can go on adventures with you all! I want to stay by your side forever."

Lian Yang nodded: "Of course, with the knowledgeable Celia along the way, we can definitely avoid many detours." Even if Celia didn't say it, Lian Yang was already planning to "kidnap" her; after all, Celia was the legendary know-it-all.

A happy Celia remembered the news that Paris and Silma were leaving and said, "Oh right, Silma has recovered, and Paris is going back to her hometown with her. She has already gone to say goodbye to Tana."

"Let's go!" Upon hearing that Paris was leaving, Lian Yang said, "After all, she's a comrade-in-arms. Even though she's a bit senior, it's still good to say goodbye before parting."

Baron casually spat out a blade of grass from his mouth. "Ha~ I really look forward to the adventures to come. Thank you, Lianyang." In the years before, fighting was just for survival, but since Lianyang appeared, Baron has gained friendship. Adventure seems to have been given a new meaning. Therefore, Baron's heart is full of gratitude towards Lianyang.

"Aren't you jealous?!" Alice kicked Baron, saying, "She may be a bit older, but she's still a great beauty, isn't she? Hurry up and go! If you delay saying goodbye to her, I won't forgive you!" Having traveled in Arad for some time, Alice knew how discriminatory people were towards those with Kazan Syndrome. She just didn't want Baron to continue feeling inferior.

Silver Village Entrance

"You guys came to see Paris off too?" Tana greeted the four-person group led by Lian Yang.

Paris handed four passes to Lian Yang, saying, "I was just about to look for you. You've come at the perfect time. These are passes to the 'Ruins of Huttonmar.' Without them, the guards won't let you through. Consider this our parting gift; it's a bit meager, but we don't have anything better. Feel free to visit us anytime during your adventures. We hope you don't find it boring!" She turned and left without a word. Actually, she was afraid to say goodbye because she lacked friends.

Still slightly weak, Sylma turned around and waved from afar, shouting, "Thank you for taking care of me during this time. We'll meet again!"

Morgan, who arrived late, watched Herma's departing figure and sighed, "...She's gone. Actually, she needs to rest for a while longer, alas..."

Seeing Morgan sighing, Tana explained, "I heard they were investigating the Black Nightmare to protect the residents of the Huttonmar ruins. They've been away for so long, and so much has happened; they must be eager to return. With so many kind-hearted people, Arad will surely return to peace one day..."

After remaining silent for a while, Lian Yang said to Tana, "It seems I should also go and see the Forest of Oblivion. Let it be my last stop in Silver Village."

Deepest part of the Arnofa Forest

"I sensed a massive surge of magical energy!" With the powerful magical energy permeating the air and the markings on the map, Lian Yang confirmed that this was indeed their destination, the Forest of Oblivion.

"Non-elf races will be trapped here, wandering forever..." As soon as he finished speaking, a huge fire giant appeared in front of Lian Yang and the others. It was the high-ranking fire elf, Flame Herrick.

Before Lian Yang could speak, Herrick continued, "But you have gained the protection of the Guardians. I will give you a chance to challenge them. If you pass the test and seal the four elemental spirits in this land, I will open a path for you..." With that, the fiery Herrick vanished. In the time it took to speak, from its appearance to its departure, it was as if it had never existed.

"Let's fight!" A squad of Night Demons appeared before Lian Yang and the others, telling them that Herrick had indeed been there.

"What a fine sword! Thanks, brother!" Baron took out the greatsword, and the powerful force unique to the artifact made him feel refreshed.

Transforming her hand cannon into a brand-new laser cannon, Alice said haughtily, "What a wonderful treasure! But Lian Yang, don't even think about using it to woo me. I belong to Celia!" Once they got to know each other better, everyone started joking around.

"Blood Frenzy!" Completely exasperated, Lian Yang could only ignore Alice and eagerly activated Blood Frenzy.

Night Elves are a type of elf, but they are actually closer to wild beasts, possessing only basic intelligence. They resemble apes somewhat, but are extremely territorial. Therefore, they are the natural guardians of the Forgotten Forest.

Sensing the presence of Lian Yang and his companions, and feeling their territory being invaded, the Night Demons went berserk. For countless years, no human had dared to invade their land. Roaring, they brandished the various weapons the elves had prepared for them and charged forward madly.

"Soul-Devouring Hand!" Choosing the nearest Night Demon, Lian Yang unleashed the Soul-Devouring Hand he had long admired. His delicate left hand instantly splattered with blood as he fiercely grabbed the attacking Night Demon.

"Reverse Ghost Sword Technique." Blood energy permeated the sword light, and white light flashed on the blade. The main hand wielded Kazan's cursed greatsword, while the off-hand held a strange lightsaber formed through the light saber. The two swords attacked alternately, and in an instant, Night Demon was torn to shreds by Lian Yang.

Shaking his left hand, Lian Yang couldn't help but think that perhaps the biggest regret of Silver Village was not having acquired a decent divine lightsaber. However, he also knew that what made a divine artifact divine was its rarity and power. Something abundant was ultimately not a good thing.

The Night Demons attacked relentlessly, but the Berserker Baron was equally relentless. Activating Blood Frenzy, Baron wielded his deadly dual swords, his dual-wielding style moving with lightning speed. Under the undefeated, sharp blades, every Night Demon that got close was shredded to pieces.

"Mountain Crash Strike." Having dealt with the enemy in front of him, Baron leaped up and cleaved a Night Demon a little further away in two with a single stroke.

"Cross Slash!" The greatsword slashed horizontally and vertically, the massive crimson cross-shaped sword energy cleaving the enemy before him once more. Every attack from Baron was so ferocious and violent.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" Alice murmured to herself, when suddenly the laser cannon in her hand emitted a white aurora. In an instant, all the enemies in front of her were pierced through and fell silently.

A Nightmare sneaked up from behind Alice, shouting, "Cannon!" She swiftly turned, raised her hand, and fired a cannon shot. Suddenly, the long barrel shoved the enemy aside. She pulled the trigger. The shell roared, tearing the enemy blocking the muzzle to shreds.

Night Demons are a type of elf, but they are closer to animals, possessing an instinctive territoriality. Animals defend their territory, but if the enemy is too strong, they can only migrate. At this moment, the strength of Lian Yang and his companions forced the Night Demons to retreat.

"Phew... those night demons finally ran away..." Alice wiped her hand cannon. "I really don't like fighting these big, clumsy monsters. But a divine artifact is a divine artifact; even the strongest rare equipment is still far inferior to a divine artifact."

Baron slung the greatsword back over his shoulder and said, "It's not just about the stats on the panel; I feel like this artifact possesses a power that transcends its attributes."

Lian Yang, who was always equipped with various divine artifacts, didn't feel much of a difference, but Baron and Alice, who were originally just ordinary members of the adventurer army, felt it deeply. Simply put, in terms of stats, divine artifacts weren't significantly superior to rare equipment. However, in actual combat, the boost to strength from divine artifacts was far more powerful than the stats could convey.

"What do you hope for?" Lian Yang himself didn't have any particular feeling, but after hearing Baron and Alice say this, he was still very curious about this phenomenon.

"It's a law!" Hope said, "This world also has a class law. Essentially, ordinary white equipment, high-level blue equipment, and rare purple equipment are all considered mortal equipment. But starting from divine artifact-level pink equipment, these are no longer mortal equipment, but a higher level—divine equipment. The class law is the absolute suppression of lower levels by higher levels. If we had to give a statistic, it would be that someone wielding a divine artifact can increase their combat power by over 200% against someone without one. However, there is an exception: relic-level equipment. Although it's also a divine artifact, a relic can only be considered a pseudo-divine artifact. Despite its powerful attributes, it only means that its attributes won't decrease when facing divine artifacts, but it won't provide any additional boost when facing mortal equipment."

After thinking for a moment, Lian Yang asked, "Then the sacred object is equivalent to a high-level rare equipment, right?"

"That's right!"

After hearing Hope's explanation, Lian Yang chuckled and said, "It seems we'll have to collect more divine artifacts in the future!"

Rolling her eyes, Alice said irritably, "Do you think divine artifacts are like cabbages? Most divine artifacts have owners, and those that can be reincarnated are extremely rare!"

"Idiot!" Baron continued walking without looking back.

"Oh, haha!" Lian Yang chuckled awkwardly, realizing he'd made a fool of himself. He really thought this was a game, where powerful artifacts were everywhere. There were countless adventurers, but only a few hundred powerful artifacts. They weren't that easy to collect.

Continuing onward, they came to an open space where four purple elves and one dark elf waited quietly.

Lian Yang nodded: "It seems our first challenge is the Dark Elves."
