When Yao Yingxi arrived at the hospital, Su Zhi was standing downstairs, unsure whether he was waiting for her or someone else.

The car stopped at the hospital entrance, and Yao Yingxi got out. Su Zhi was taken aback when he saw her, then laughed: "I thought Yuan Chen would bring you here." He said this on purpose, not sure if Xi Yuan Chen was away on a business trip.

Recently, rumors have been circulating in high society that Yao Yingxi broke up with Xi Yuanchen and that he has found a woman who looks very much like Yao Yingxi.

“He’s busy.” Yao Yingxi’s eyes dimmed when Xi Yuanchen was mentioned, but a faint smile remained on her lips as she said softly.

Su Zhi nodded: "Men always have to focus on their careers."

The two entered the hospital, and Su Zhi talked to her as they walked: "Has your wound been hurting lately? Have you been avoiding any foods?"

Yao Yingxi shook her head: "No, it doesn't hurt much." She answered Su Zhi's question truthfully.

Su Zhi nodded: "That's good. After this cleaning, let's see how the recovery is. If it's good, we can put on a band-aid."

Yao Yingxi hummed in agreement.

Xi Yuanchen returned to his apartment and searched the entire place, but couldn't find Yao Yingxi. He sat on the sofa with a furrowed brow, guessing that, as he suspected, Yao Yingxi had gone out with Xiuyan again and hadn't returned.

He sat for a while, and just as he was about to take out his phone to call Yao Yingxi, he belatedly realized that his phone was out of battery.

Xi Yuanchen got up from the sofa and found a data cable to charge his phone.

When the battery was at two percent, Xi Yuanchen turned on his phone. There were no missed calls, and his expression turned sour.

Xi Yuanchen got up from the sofa and went upstairs on his own.

Xi Yuanchen took a shower and came downstairs, but still didn't see Yao Yingxi return, nor did he hear her call him.

He sat on the sofa with a dark expression, picked up his phone and called Yao Yingxi, but no one answered.

Xi Yuanchen's expression turned even uglier. Just as he was about to make a second call, Ye An'an called his cell phone.

Seeing that number made Xi Yuanchen even more agitated, but he still chose to answer Ye An'an's call.

"Hey."

"Yuanchen, it's me." Ye An'an's voice was trembling with tears on the other end of the phone.

"Hmm, what's wrong?" Unbeknownst to Xi Yuanchen, he was unmoved by Ye An'an's crying.

"Yuanchen, tell me the truth, is Xiaoya really abroad?" Ye An'an asked, her voice choked with emotion.

Xi Yuanchen hesitated for a moment, then asked, "What news did you hear?"

"Never mind what I heard, just tell me, is Xiaoya really abroad? She is abroad, right?" After a pause, Ye An'an continued, "I don't believe the news, I don't believe anyone, I only believe you. Is Xiaoya still abroad? What the news says is all false, right?"

Ye An'an's voice trembled on the phone; her lips were quivering, and her speech was broken and intermittent.

Xi Yuanchen frowned, and after a long while, he asked, "You're at home now, right?"

Ye An'an was still crying when she heard Xi Yuanchen say that. She stopped and let out a stunned "Ah".

Xi Yuanchen got up and went upstairs, saying to Ye An'an on the phone, "I'm coming to find you now."

"Okay, I'll come down to get you." After hanging up the phone, Xi Yuanchen went back to his room to change his clothes before coming out.

When he got into the car, Yao Yingxi still hadn't returned. Xi Yuanchen sat in his seat, his hand resting on the seatbelt for a while before he took out his phone.

Looking at the phone number displaying Yao Yingxi's name on the screen, Xi Yuanchen squeezed his phone, then put it in the storage compartment, started the car, and drove away.

On the other side, Yao Yingxi just came out of the hospital. Su Zhi stood next to him and said, "The wound is healing very well and shouldn't leave a scar, but you still need to be careful."

Yao Yingxi nodded: "Thank you, Dr. Su."

Su Zhi shook his head: "No need to be polite."

When Yao Yingxi returned to the apartment, she didn't see Xi Yuanchen and assumed she hadn't come back. She was about to call Xi Yuanchen when she realized she had put her phone somewhere.

She sat on the sofa and thought about it carefully before realizing that she might have left her phone in the car. Yao Yingxi had no choice but to go downstairs to look for her phone in the car, and sure enough, it was stuck in the crack of the back door.

Yao Yingxi picked up her phone, intending to call Xi Yuanchen, only to find that Xi Yuanchen had already called her but had missed.

Yao Yingxi dialed back, and the call was answered quickly, but it wasn't Xi Yuanchen.

"Hello, are you looking for Yuanchen? He just went out. Call back later."

When Yao Yingxi heard a woman's voice, she froze on the spot. Her nose tingled and her eyes reddened, but she still suppressed her emotions and said, "Mm."

After hanging up the phone, Yao Yingxi put her phone on the table, put her legs up on the sofa, and relaxed.

Even though she tried to comfort herself again and again because she knew the person, she still couldn't accept it.

Yao Yingxi suddenly remembered Xiu Yan's words and the anonymous text message. Her mind was in a mess, and she couldn't help but let her thoughts wander.

"Yuanchen wouldn't do that, she wouldn't do that, I have to believe her," Yao Yingxi murmured to herself, trying to comfort herself.

At this moment, this was all she could do, because Xi Yuanchen hadn't returned and she didn't know what was going on. She couldn't afford to misunderstand Xi Yuanchen.

Yao Yingxi sat on the sofa all night, and was sad all night long.

She watched the clock tick from 10 o'clock until 6 a.m., her anxiety turning to numbness, but Yao Yingxi still couldn't see Xi Yuanchen.

Throughout the night, she called Xi Yuanchen's phone again and again, only to be told that it was switched off. From initially trying to comfort herself, Yao Yingxi's emotions sank to rock bottom.

It wasn't that she immediately sentenced Xi Yuanchen to death, but rather that he didn't come home all night, and when she called, a girl answered, making it hard not to overthink things.

At seven o'clock, Yao Yingxi got up from the sofa. Because she had been maintaining one position for too long, her legs were numb due to irregular blood circulation. As soon as she put her legs on the ground, her whole body leaned forward and fell onto the table.

She winced in pain and slowly climbed up from the table; her elbow, which she had bumped, was now bruised.

Yao Yingxi ignored her, turned around, and like a puppet on a string, went upstairs and into the bathroom.

She turned on the tap, and water poured down, soaking Yao Yingxi's entire body. She then stood under the tap with her eyes closed.

She stood there for a while, and the cold air, brushing against her skin, crept up on her, chilling her to the bone.

Yao Yingxi squatted down, hugged herself, and burst into tears.

She was in so much pain, so incredibly painful, that she felt utterly helpless. She desperately wanted to confront Xi Yuanchen and confront him.

Yao Yingxi didn't know how long she cried, until her eyes were even more swollen and red, before she finally came out of the bathroom with her hair still wet.

Yao Yingxi sat in front of the dressing table, looked at herself in the mirror, gritted her teeth, and tears still fell.

"Wait for Xi Yuanchen to come back, ask him clearly, ask him thoroughly." Yao Yingxi looked at herself in the mirror and said, "Ask him thoroughly, he wouldn't do that."
