Chapter 1115 An unexpected surprise
After hearing Morgana's words, Frank nodded without saying a word.
Then he said to Morgana, "Morgana, I'll leave this place to you for now..."
Morgana smiled and said, "Frank, no problem, I can handle this little thing..."
With this in mind, Frank went to find a few trusted confidants and then set off in a corner where no one was paying attention.
After Jones Snow left with Frank, he asked Frank with a curious look, "Brother Frank, are those rumors true?"
Jones Snow was not actually at the port just now, although he was one of Frank's core subordinates.
However, when they were captured, Jon Snow was mistakenly assigned to the group of ordinary officers.
They certainly wouldn't tell.
Therefore, Jon Snow did not capture the port, and thus, he was completely unaware of what was happening outside.
Not only was he unaware of it, but Jon Snow only learned about it after he was rescued.
However, the news I heard was indeed quite unbelievable.
After all, Xiao Ce is both a human and a god; having known him for so long, he understands this clearly.
So he couldn't help but ask Frank.
Frank said to Jones Snow, "Indeed, we all underestimated Brother Xiao Ce..."
Frank quickly changed the subject, then said to Jones Snow, "Now we can't call Xiao Ce 'Brother' anymore, we should call him 'God Xiao'... You heard those rumors, they're all true..."
Jones Snow was indeed surprised.
"Then I'll continue..."
Frank did not hide anything from Jones Snow, even though Jones Snow was his subordinate.
Strictly speaking, it was Jon Snow who met Xiao Ce first.
He was also the first subordinate Xiao Ce recognized...
So Frank said directly to Jones Snow, "Let's try our luck...maybe there's some treasure left behind by Xiao Shen..."
After hearing Frank's words, Jones Snow nodded without saying a word. He didn't waste any more words...
He knew that asking any further questions would be inappropriate...
Their carriages headed directly towards Wolong Manor, which was actually not far from Lingas City.
The castles along the way are now all abandoned.
The former liveliness is long gone.
They drove the carriage to the outside of Qianlong Manor, and had just arrived at the outside of Qianlong Manor.
Like the other manors we passed along the way, this manor was deathly silent.
By the time Xiao Ce first sensed something was wrong with these devices, a batch had already been transported away.
Only a few were left to maintain production, but when they realized the situation was not going well, they made them move all the equipment away.
So, this manor was previously used as a production base, but now it is used as a warehouse.
Frank walked to the heavy oak gate of the Hidden Dragon Manor. The manor was more dilapidated than he remembered; the window frames were broken, and vines climbed wildly, casting ghostly shadows in the hazy moonlight, exuding a chilling atmosphere of complete abandonment.
"Nobody's here." Frank knocked on the manor's massive door, but there was no response from inside.
The sound echoed briefly in the empty courtyard before dissipating.
Frank called out to the people behind him, "You all follow..."
Without saying a word, the people behind him nodded.
After pushing open the door.
Everyone was on edge, their hands on the weapons at their waists, scanning the dark corners around them warily.
The wind rustled through the overgrown courtyard, making a sound like countless tiny footsteps.
The courtyard was deserted.
Frank gestured for his men to spread out and stand guard, then stepped forward and pounded on the door knocker.
The heavy thud echoed through the silent night, sounding particularly abrupt. He and Jones Snow listened intently, but only silence responded from behind the door.
“Nobody’s here, Brother Frank.” Jones lowered his voice, his hand already on the weapon at his waist, his eyes scanning the shadows above the wall warily.
"As expected." Frank nodded, his eyes showing little surprise, but rather more anticipation.
Morgana's words, relayed by Xiao Shen, still echoed in her ears.
He turned to his two other agile confidants and said, "Morley, Hagen, you two wait here and keep watch, but keep quiet."
The two accepted the order and quickly blended into the night, probing along the wall like raccoons.
Frank, with Jones in tow, used the carriage as cover to reach the innermost house that Morgana had described.
The wooden door of this house was tightly closed, seemingly isolated from the world, just like the manor itself.
Frank did not immediately try to open the door, but followed Xiao Shen's instructions and went to the left wall first.
“Start with the eighth brick with your left hand…” he muttered to himself, his rough fingers tapping across the cold stone bricks one by one, finally stopping on a slightly protruding brick with seemingly less dust accumulating at the seams.
He pressed down hard. The brick didn't budge; it didn't sink in as he had expected.
"Brother Frank?" Jones asked nervously.
"Don't rush, this is just for location." Frank said calmly, then walked towards the right wall.
"The third brick on the right..." He found the target brick and pressed down hard again. Again, the brick didn't move.
Finally, he walked to the somewhat empty ground in the center of the room.
The ground here is paved with thick stone bricks.
He moved a worn-out wooden chair aside, took a deep breath, and suddenly raised his foot and stomped hard on the floor tile that should have been in the center!
Boom!
A dull thud sounded from under the floor.
Then, under Jones's breathless gaze, a stone slab about two meters long and one meter wide, near the inside of the doorway, slowly opened inward and downward with a slight "click" sound, revealing a dark, bottomless, sloping passage! A smell of long-sealed earth and rust instantly filled the air.
"It's open!" Jones's voice was filled with barely suppressed excitement.
Excitement gleamed in Frank's single eye, but caution lurked beneath. "Bring the oil lamp! Jones, you stay close to me. Pete, you guard the door! Signal immediately if anything happens!"
Pete nodded solemnly and stood guard at the door with his musket.
Frank and Jones lit the kerosene windproof lamps they had brought, turned the light up to its brightest setting, and carefully stepped onto the stone steps leading underground.
The stone steps are steep, and slippery moss clings to the surface, requiring extra caution with every step.
The passage was long and dark, with only the light from the two lamps in their hands tearing a small patch of light ahead, in which disturbed dust swirled.
After walking for an unknown amount of time, the slope gradually eased, and the view suddenly opened up before us.
The light illuminated a huge basement space!
The air was thick with the smells of engine oil, metal, and sulfur. Frank held the lamp high, his heart pounding.
The scene that came into view was both exhilarating and tinged with an indescribable sense of loss.
Actually, this warehouse is not the same place that Xiao Ce went to before...
They hadn't brought Xiao Ce here before; Xiao Ce only learned about this place later from Morgana.
However, Xiao Ce knew about it, but he never actually came...
This is clearly a hidden weapons depot!
Rows of heavy wooden shelves stood against the wall, but... many of them were empty.
Only on the innermost shelves on the left side were several hundred brand-new assault rifles neatly stacked, their bodies wrapped in thick, moisture-proof tarpaulins. These assault rifles were all the same model as the AK47 they were currently using.
Dozens of wooden crates of varying sizes were piled up under the shelf.
Frank strode forward and used his knife to pry open the seal on one of the wooden crates, revealing a dense array of brass bullets inside!
They pried open a slightly larger one, which contained bundles of replacement bolt parts!
"They have guns! And ammunition and spare parts! And they're some of the most advanced weapons..."
Jones let out a low, excited shout that echoed through the empty basement.
Frank continued his examination.
The number was much smaller than he had expected, probably only enough to arm seven or eight hundred people, far from the ten thousand he had anticipated.
He understood: "It seems Lady Boudica had already moved most of them away when she evacuated... but Xiao Shen was right, there were indeed some left behind! And something is better than nothing... something is always better than nothing..."
They continued their search.
Deep within the armory, as light swept across a corner, Frank's eyes narrowed sharply.
There were no shelves there, only a protrusion covered with a thick canvas.
"there..."
He gestured for Jones to be on guard, then stepped forward and carefully lifted a corner of the canvas.
Beneath the canvas were not more firearms, but two enormous machines with strange shapes and a cold metallic sheen!
They have cannon-like bases, but the barrels are short and thick, covered with intricate patterns and pipe joints, and the tail is connected to a heavy metal box inlaid with sparkling prismatic crystals.
"What...what is this?"
Jones had never seen such a strange device.
Frank walked around it twice, squatted down to examine it closely, and found a tiny, extremely familiar mark in one corner of the base, as if it were engraved deep in his soul—a minimalist imprint that outlined the silhouette of an oriental palace!
Next to it, in small, universal script, are the words: "Starlink Type 1 Traction Energy Cannon!! Prototype/Experimental Code Name: Lynx".
Because this font is a Xiao-style script, Frank cannot understand it...
"Is this the script of the Xiao Kingdom?" Frank asked Jones Snow.
Although they were all learning the Xiao language, Frank had been preoccupied with various trivial matters and hadn't been able to focus on it...
However, Frank knew that Jones Snow had been studying those ancient languages without ever stopping...
After hearing Frank's words, Jones Snow, who had been excitedly examining the other weapons...
Upon hearing Frank's words, Jones Snow immediately snapped out of his daze and went to Frank's side.
He stared wide-eyed at the enormous, strangely shaped machine before him...
Frank stared at Jones Snow in disbelief, pointing directly at the words he didn't quite understand.
"Jones Snow, look at these words..."
After seeing these words, Jones Snow slowly came out!
"Starlink Type 1 Traction Energy Cannon...Prototype/Experimental Code Name: Lynx".
"An energy cannon?" Frank looked at Jones Snow, somewhat bewildered, as if asking a question...
Without saying a word, Jones Snow was equally bewildered.
"Boss Frank, although we don't know what it is... just looking at its material, we should know that this thing is definitely not simple..."
Frank nodded, then said, "That's right...it seems even Xiao Shen doesn't know...it must be newly issued..."
Frank observed the situation in the secret room, which contained footprints of varying depths.
These footprints suggest that several groups of people came in before.
His voice was trembling...
This thing looks like a powerful weapon. Although he doesn't know exactly how to operate it (Morgana hasn't mentioned it either), the words "Star Network" and the name "Energy Cannon" sound very high-tech, which is enough to get his blood pumping!
More importantly, there was a box next to it filled with energy warheads that also had crystals and intricate patterns, as well as a thin instruction manual marked in both Xiao Kingdom script and Common Language!
As Frank said this, Jones Snow said to him, "Boss Frank, shall we take these things?"
Frank nodded. "Whatever, let's take it. Once those Illuminati members arrive, it'll be dangerous when they counterattack... They might not even be able to take it. If they take it, we'll be even worse off... If it's not for us, we can just hand it over then..."
Jones Snow nodded: "That makes sense."
"Quick! Open the box!" Frank made the decision immediately!
"Move all the guns, ammunition, spare parts, and these two 'big treasures' and energy warheads onto the wagon! Leave nothing behind!"
As for the idea of 'keeping some just in case'—to hell with 'just in case'! This is Xiao Shen's gift, the key to turning the tide! We must take it all!
Seeing Frank's excited expression, Jones Snow nodded: "Should we go and call those two people outside over?"
Then, Jon Snow looked at the two enormous, bizarre Lynx cannons.
"Boss Frank, I'm afraid we can't move these two cannons out of here on our own..."
Frank nodded in agreement: "Okay! You stay here and keep watch, I'll go get help."
