Chapter 339 Unexpected Gain

Lu Lingxi felt a sudden dizziness and her stomach churned. When she came to her senses, she found herself and Youming standing in a dark alley.

"Master, where are we?" Youming asked, rubbing his sore bottom, looking completely bewildered.

Lu Lingxi was also a little confused. She looked down at the jade talisman in her hand. The light on the jade talisman had dimmed, obviously because its spiritual power had been exhausted.

"I don't know either..." Lu Lingxi looked around. The alley was narrow and dark, with vines climbing on the walls on both sides. There was a damp and rotten smell in the air, which made people very uncomfortable.

"This wretched place isn't even a ghost in sight. Where are we supposed to find Nalan Rongzhi?" Youming complained, as he hated such eerie places the most.

Lu Lingxi ignored his complaints and cautiously observed her surroundings. Suddenly, she stopped and signaled Youming to stop.

"What's wrong, Master?" Youming asked in a low voice.

"Shh—" Lu Lingxi put her finger to her lips, signaling him to listen carefully.

A deliberately hushed voice came from not far away, intermittent, as if afraid of being discovered.

Youming held his breath and pricked up his ears, but all he heard was a rustling sound, like the wind blowing through the leaves, or like some kind of creature crawling.

"Master, what did you hear?" Youming couldn't help but ask in a low voice, as he hadn't heard anything clearly.

Lu Lingxi didn't answer. She slowly walked towards the direction from which the sound came. At the end of the alley was a high wall, and at the corner of the wall was a small hole covered by debris. The sound was coming from there.

Lu Lingxi carefully pushed aside the clutter and peered through the small hole.

On the other side of the cave was an abandoned courtyard, overgrown with weeds and in a state of disrepair. By the dim light, Lu Lingxi Yao saw two figures standing in the center of the courtyard, seemingly talking about something.

One of them was tall, wearing a long black robe, and his face was not visible. The other was short, wearing a tattered gray outfit and a straw hat, and his face was also not visible.

Lu Lingxi listened intently to their conversation, afraid of missing a single word.

"...Xi Ling Qianluo has been captured and is locked in the dungeon," the short man said in a low, hoarse voice.

"Very good, His Highness is very satisfied with your performance," the man in black said, his voice deep and authoritative.

Lu Lingxi was shocked. Xiling Qianluo had been captured? Nalan Rongshang? What on earth was going on?

"What's going on with Nalan Rongzhi?" the man in black asked.

"Not yet, but we've already spread the word that Xiling Qianluo is in our hands. If he dares to come, we'll make sure he doesn't leave alive!" the short man said viciously.

“Yes, this time we must be absolutely certain that everything will go perfectly. His Highness Shang is already impatient,” the man in black robes said.

"Don't worry, we've made thorough preparations this time, and we guarantee that Nalan Rongzhi won't be able to escape!" the short man said confidently.

Lu Lingxi Yao became increasingly alarmed as she listened. Nalan Rongshang had actually captured Xiling Qianluo and even wanted to use her to threaten Nalan Rongzhi!

Xi Ling Qianluo is Nalan Rongzhi's mother's good friend and an elder he greatly respects. If anything happens to her, Nalan Rongzhi will definitely do everything in his power to save her.

However, this was clearly a trap. Nalan Rongshang wanted to lure Nalan Rongzhi into the trap and then capture him all at once!

Lu Lingxi Yao dared not listen any longer. She quietly retreated, grabbed Youming, and ran outside.

"Master, what's wrong?" Youming asked breathlessly as Lu Lingxi Yao dragged him along at breakneck speed.

"There's no time to explain, we have to get to Nine Nether City right away!" Lu Lingxi said as she ran, her voice urgent.

"Nine Nether City? What are we going there for?" Youming asked, puzzled.

“Go find Nalan Rongzhi!” Lu Lingxi said.

The two ran all the way and finally left the gloomy and terrifying alley.

Lu Lingxi took out her flying artifact, jumped onto it with Youming, and sped towards the direction of Jiuyou City.

Along the way, Lu Lingxi told Youming about the news she had overheard.

"What? Nalan Rongshang kidnapped Xiling Qianluo to threaten Nalan Rongzhi? How despicable!" Upon hearing this, Youming was furious and wished he could rush to Nalan Rongshang and tear him to pieces.

“Now is not the time to be angry. We must get to Jiuyou City as soon as possible and tell Nalan Rongzhi the news so that he can make preparations,” Lu Lingxi said.

“But since Nalan Rongshang has set a trap, he must have made thorough preparations. Even if we get to Jiuyou City, what can we do?” Youming asked with some worry.

"No matter what, I can't just stand by and watch Nalan Rongzhi go to his death," Lu Lingxi said firmly.
