The group passed through the cave and gradually ventured deeper into an area shrouded in mist. The scenery around them became increasingly eerie as they went deeper, and a chilling atmosphere permeated the air, as if time itself had slowed down and become heavy.

Lu Lingxi held a fragment taken from the abandoned altar. It still contained faint spiritual energy fluctuations and special markings that had been found on the altar earlier. These clues, like a lighthouse, guided them in the right direction.

"According to the clues, the Black Abyss's stronghold should be not far ahead. That is the place with the densest Yin energy and the most dangerous terrain in the Rebirth Valley." Lu Lingxi's voice was particularly clear in the silence.

The White Tiger, the Netherworld, and the Nine-Tailed Fox followed closely behind. Their perception abilities far surpassed those of ordinary people, allowing them to detect subtle changes that were difficult for ordinary people to perceive, even in such an environment.

The white tiger's nose twitched slightly, as if it had caught a whiff of something unusual in the air; Youming's eyes gleamed with an eerie light, its body tense, ready to deal with any potential danger; and the nine-tailed fox remained highly alert, its tail swaying gently, releasing faint fluctuations of spiritual energy as it sensed its surroundings.

Just as they expected, as the group approached the target area, the surrounding defenses gradually became apparent. Members of the Black Abyss organization, dressed in black robes with their faces hidden under hoods, moved through the night like ghosts. Their patrol routes seemed chaotic, but in fact, they contained hidden mechanisms, and anyone who tried to get close would be quickly detected.

Even more terrifying are the tamed evil spirits and ghostly beasts, which either float in the air or roam the ground, emitting chilling growls. The eyes of these creatures are filled with savagery and brutality, as if they might pounce at any moment and tear the intruders to shreds.

Faced with such tight defenses, Youming proposed his reconnaissance plan: "I am agile and good at concealment and reconnaissance, so let me go ahead and scout ahead. I will find out the exact location of the stronghold entrance and the surrounding defenses, and then report back to you."

Lu Lingxi looked at Youming with eyes full of trust: "Be careful, your safety is just as important."

"Then I will stay by my master's side and protect her safety. No matter what happens, I will not let anyone hurt her," the white tiger said.

Nine-Tails nodded: "I'll provide support from the rear. I'll provide immediate assistance should any unexpected situation arise."

With a flicker, Youming transformed into a miniature Youming beast the size of a palm. The small wings on his back fluttered gently, and a faint black mist appeared around his body, completely concealing his figure in the darkness.

This black mist not only obscures vision but also isolates one's aura, allowing him to move silently through this dangerous area like a ghost.

Deep within the Rebirth Valley, the miasma and poisonous fog grew increasingly dense, like distorted ghostly shadows drifting in the air. Taking a breath of it caused a burning pain in the throat, as if countless tiny steel needles were pricking and scraping it.

The ground became even more rugged and uneven, riddled with bottomless cracks, from which bursts of black poisonous gas spewed out from time to time, making a hissing sound.

Youming carefully avoided the poisonous gas, his eyes, which gleamed with an eerie light in the darkness, keenly observing every movement around him.

He discovered that the closer he got to the target area, the more frequently ghosts and evil spirits appeared. These ghosts came in various forms; some were incomplete, with only a head remaining, and green ghost fire burning in the empty eye sockets; some had twisted limbs, as if they had been torn apart, and let out a mournful wail; and others turned into a cloud of black mist, drifting erratically in the air.

The evil spirits are even more ferocious. They are enormous, covered in spikes and bones, with fangs bared in their mouths and bloodthirsty glints in their eyes. They roam this area like watchdogs, guarding the secrets of the Abyss.

With his control over the dark element and his innate talent for stealth, Youming skillfully avoided these dead souls and evil spirits.

Sometimes he would transform into a wisp of black smoke and merge into the miasma; sometimes he would fly close to the ground, like a nimble cat, weaving among the strange rocks; and sometimes he would use dark elements to create illusions, confusing the patrolling members of the Black Abyss.

These Black Abyss members were more vigilant than those on the outer perimeter. They not only wore black robes but also had hideous ghost masks on their faces and held weapons that gleamed coldly. They patrolled in groups of three or five along fixed routes, leaving no suspicious corner unchecked.

Youming discovered that there seemed to be some kind of special connection between these patrol teams. Once one team was attacked, the other teams would immediately sense it and rush to support them. This close cooperation made infiltration extremely difficult.

But with his extraordinary wisdom and patience, Youming carefully observed the patterns of these patrol teams' movements, searching for any flaws in their strategies.

He discovered that every so often, these patrol teams would change shifts, and the changeover point was in front of what appeared to be an ordinary black waterfall.

The black waterfall cascades down from the towering cliff, its water as black as ink and emitting a nauseating stench. As it plunges into the deep pool below, it stirs up plumes of black mist that obscure the view.

Youming cautiously approached the waterfall. He keenly sensed that there seemed to be spatial fluctuations hidden behind the waterfall. These fluctuations were very weak, and if he did not possess the bloodline of Youming Chimei and have an innate sensitivity to spatial power, he would probably have had difficulty detecting them.

"This is very likely the entrance to the Black Abyss Nest," Youming thought to himself. He then informed Lu Lingxi Yao of this discovery through their contract.

A moment later, Lu Lingxi, Baihu, and Jiuwei arrived at the black waterfall. They hid behind a huge rock and observed the situation of the waterfall.

“There’s definitely something strange about this.” Lu Lingxi Yao looked at the black waterfall, a cold glint in her eyes. “This waterfall is not simple; it’s not only a disguise for the entrance, but also a form of defense.”

Nine-Tailed Fox nodded. "The water in this waterfall contains powerful dark energy, which is extremely corrosive and stealthy. Ordinary people, let alone get close, will be corrupted by the dark energy just by looking at it from a distance. At best, they will lose their minds, and at worst, they will die on the spot."

"Moreover, this waterfall blends seamlessly with its surroundings, forming a natural maze. If one is unfamiliar with its secrets and ventures in rashly, one may easily lose one's way or even trigger hidden traps and alarms."

Lu Lingxi Yao pondered for a moment, "It seems we can't force our way in. White Tiger, you're in charge of drawing the Black Abyss Guards' attention from the front. Netherworld and Nine-Tailed Fox, you two flank from the side and try to disrupt the entrance's defenses. I'll provide support from the center and be ready to assist and deal with any emergencies."

"Understood!" the three replied in unison.
