"For over two thousand years, the Taotie Beast King has been evolving, becoming increasingly intelligent. How long can you hold out, and can you guarantee that you will successfully defend the Great Wall every time? Defending the Great Wall is only a temporary solution; this disaster will never end until the Taotie Beast King is eliminated."

In the movie, the Nameless Army failed to defend the Great Wall. The purpose of the first Taotie army's attack on the Great Wall was not to break through it head-on. The Beast King was extremely intelligent and secretly commanded the Taotie to dig through the Great Wall and directly attack the Bianliang Imperial City.

Moreover, it's laughable that the Shadowless Army and the Taotie army fought for two thousand years without discovering the Taotie's weakness, and they finally had to rely on two barbarians to find it. Li Qing wondered what they had been doing for those two thousand years.

“What Immortal Li said is true. We also know that this disaster will not end until the Taotie Beast King is eliminated. We have tried to eliminate the Taotie Beast King, and have sent small teams to Gouwu Mountain many times. However, none of the teams that went to eliminate the Taotie Beast King succeeded. They all died on Gouwu Mountain, and none of them came back alive.”

Lin Mei lowered her head, not daring to disobey Li Qing. She was not familiar with the immortal's personality and was afraid of saying something inappropriate that might anger Li Qing.

"My purpose in coming to the Great Wall is to destroy the Taotie Beast King. Take me to see your commander."

"Master Li, please follow me."

"No need to call me Immortal Master, just call me Li Qing."

"Yes, Immortal Master Li," Lin Mei replied, bowing her head, but she didn't change the way she addressed him.

.....

Lin Mei walked ahead of Li Qing, leading him down the Great Wall from a tower.

Descending to the foot of the Great Wall and passing through military tents, Li Qing followed Lin Mei into a magnificent hall. Inside, soldiers in neat uniforms stood at the four corners of the hall. Behind a long table in the center of the hall, five people sat side by side. In the middle was a middle-aged man wearing exquisite black armor, his face weathered and his expression resolute. This was Commander Shao, who held the position of Commander and was also the leader of the Xiong Army.

The performance of Commander Shao in the plot is also baffling. As the leader of the Nameless Army, the tactics he devised are utterly useless. The grappling hook attack is absolutely laughable.

Even later in the story, when he personally patrolled the city wall at night, he discovered that the Taotie had launched a night attack on the Great Wall, killing the soldiers on night patrol. While the soldiers were forming ranks to defend against the Taotie attack from the front, Commander Shao had clearly discovered that the Taotie were attacking from the rear. Instead of ordering the soldiers to defend against the Taotie from the rear, he personally faced the Taotie. Commander Shao was the leader of the five armies, and all the soldiers needed his command. If something happened to him, who would command the Shadowless Army? Wouldn't the morale of the army be thrown into chaos?

In the end, Commander Shao actually pushed Lin Mei away to save her, putting himself in danger. No matter how strong Commander Shao was, he was still just one person, and he was also old. Naturally, he was no match for Taotie and died in Taotie's mouth. It can be said that he died very hastily.

Before taking his last breath, Commander Shao handed over command of the Nameless Army to Lin Mei. Why would so many generals entrust command of the Nameless Army to Lin Mei?

On either side of Commander Shao were four people: General Deng, the leader of the Deer Army in purple armor; General Chen, the leader of the Eagle Army in red armor; General Wu, the leader of the Tiger Army in yellow armor; and the strategist Wang, standing behind the generals.

"How should I address this immortal?" Commander Shao had naturally heard from his soldiers that a strangely dressed immortal had come to the Great Wall. Now, seeing this, it was indeed so. He had short hair, and his clothes were strange, unlike those of the Central Plains. He also did not have the ethereal air of an immortal as in legends. However, Commander Shao only thought about it in his mind, but Li Qing noticed the suspicious look in his eyes.

"Reporting to the commander, this is Immortal Li, who has come to eliminate the Taotie Beast King."

Lin Mei walked up to Commander Shao, bowed slightly, and clasped her hands in greeting.

"The world has suffered from the Taotie for too long. Now that the immortal has helped us, the destruction of the Taotie Beast King is just around the corner. Immortal Li, rest assured, our Shadowless Army will do our utmost to help you destroy the Taotie Beast King."

"When the Taotie army reaches the Great Wall, we will still have to rely on the Shadowless Guard to resist the Taotie beast soldiers' attacks. I will find an opportunity to kill the beast king, the Taotie Beast King."

Li Qing didn't have a good impression of the generals present. Now that he had come to this world, he wanted to see if the Nameless Order was as incompetent as portrayed in the movies. They were completely powerless against the Taotie, and even two barbarians who had never seen a Taotie before were able to kill one by working together. In contrast, in the movie, a dozen well-equipped soldiers who had undergone long-term specialized training couldn't even deal with a single Taotie. He wondered what kind of training the Nameless Order had undergone for so many years to fight the Taotie.

......

An urgent report was heard, and a soldier in black armor ran into the main hall.

"Reporting to Commander Shao, the Eagle Army soldiers captured two barbarians in front of the Great Wall. At the time, a group of Khitans were chasing the two, but for some reason, the Khitans retreated after chasing them to a point not far from the Great Wall." The soldier knelt on one knee to report to Commander Shao.

"The Eagle Army soldiers found a number of weapons on the two men, and also discovered a strange arm covered in green blood in their packs. Judging from its shape, it was not a human arm."

"What! A strange arm with green blood?" General Wu was shocked and suddenly stood up. The soldier's description reminded him of the Taotie. Its strange shape and green blood were characteristics of the Taotie.

"Bring those two barbarians up, and bring that severed arm up as well," Commander Shao said to the soldiers below, remaining relatively calm.

"Yes, Your Excellency!"

The two barbarians were then escorted into the main hall by soldiers.

"Kneel down."

The two barbarians were forcibly subdued by the soldiers and forced to kneel inside the main hall.

Li Qing then saw the two main characters from the movie. Both of them were disheveled and in a sorry state, covered with a large piece of burlap. Through the burlap, one could see some dried green blood on their leather armor.

These two are William and Toval, the "male protagonists" of this world, two thieves who came to the Central Plains to steal gunpowder.

A green Taotie arm was placed on a long table by a soldier.

Commander Shao and the others looked at the Taotie's arm with solemn expressions; it was indeed the Taotie's arm.

“Indeed, judging from its features, it is indeed the arm of the Taotie. However, there is still quite some time before the Taotie attack, which occurs once every sixty years. Why has this Taotie attack been brought forward? Military Advisor Wang, what do you think of this matter?” Commander Shao stroked his beard and asked in a deep voice.

"Commander, according to historical records, it's not uncommon for the Taotie to launch an attack ahead of schedule. Let's interrogate these two barbarians first and see if we can get any specific information out of them." Military Advisor Wang looked at the two barbarians in front of him.

"Yes, General Lin, I'll leave the interrogation of these two barbarians to you."

"Yes, Your Excellency!"

Lin Mei walked up to the two bound men and asked, "Where did you get these arms?"

“I cut it down,” William said truthfully, not daring to hide anything from the female general.

"You cut it off? You think you have that kind of strength?" Lin Mei looked at William with full of doubt, completely disbelieving his words. How could a barbarian have the strength to cut off the Taotie's arm all by himself?

"Hahaha, these barbarians really know how to brag." General Deng laughed out loud, clearly not believing that one person could cut off the Taotie's arm.

These two weren't bragging. Although they used the power of the magnet to interfere with Taotie's judgment, they did indeed cut off Taotie's arm.

“He was telling the truth. There was Taotie blood on the sword, and there was Taotie blood on his leather armor as well.”

Wang Junshi carefully examined the green bloodstains on a sword.

When the generals heard that the military advisor Wang had said this, the scene immediately quieted down.

"Maybe it was just luck, a lucky accident that they managed to cut it down," General Wu, the leader of the Tiger Army, still stubbornly said. He couldn't very well admit that they were inferior to the two barbarians, since they were both generals of the Nameless Order.

“Regardless of luck or strength, we must figure out their purpose in coming to the Great Wall.” Commander Shao stroked his chin with one hand, looking at the two barbarians who were tied up.

"Why ask any more questions? Just kill them!" General Wu suggested, deciding to settle the matter directly with killing them.

"General Lin, continue questioning them!"

"Yes, Your Excellency!"

Lin Mei walked up to the two men and questioned them, "What are you doing here?"

"We are merchants who were ambushed by the Khitans and fled here..."

"Merchants? Merchants have so many weapons? They're lying. Men, strip those two rags off them."

Lin Mei wasn't blind; what kind of merchants would dress like that, wearing leather armor and carrying weapons, and looking nothing like merchants at all?

Two Xiong Jun soldiers stepped out of the ranks and, following General Lin's orders, stripped William and his companion of their tattered clothes, revealing fine black leather armor—a type of equipment that merchants would never wear.

“You are soldiers.” Lin Mei drew her long sword from her waist and pointed it at William, then turned to report to Commander Shao.

"Your Highness, these two are definitely up to no good. They lied and said they were merchants who were chased here by the Khitans. But with their attire and the skill to cut off the Taotie's arm, they can't possibly be merchants."

Lin Mei held the long sword close to William's neck; if she got any closer, she could kill him.

"General Lin, you mustn't," Commander Shao stopped Lin Mei.

Upon hearing Commander Shao's order, Lin Mei naturally dared not disobey, so she put down her long sword and sheathed it.

Lin Mei strode up to Commander Shao, bowed and clasped her hands in a fist salute, "This humble general believes that, regardless of whether it is a coincidence or not, the two should be executed immediately to prevent future troubles!"

General Wu had long disliked these two barbarians, and seeing that Lin Mei shared the same opinion, he quickly spoke up, "I agree with General Lin's opinion; they should be executed immediately. What's the point of keeping them alive? Just behead them."

Seeing that his two generals were about to execute the two men, Commander Shao was also a little undecided and turned to Military Advisor Wang for his opinion.

"Strategist Wang, what do you think?"

"Your Highness, their origins have not yet been determined. I think we should stay a few more days."

Wang Junshi had his reasons for sparing the two men's lives. These two barbarians were able to escape unscathed from the Taotie's attack, and even cut off a piece of the Taotie's arm. There must be something wrong with them. Perhaps they could find the Taotie's weakness from this.

......

On the second floor of the main hall, an old man dressed in black cloth, with short hair and a full beard, was observing the situation below from the shadows. This old man was clearly not from the Central Plains.

The old man was named Ballard. He and William below had the same goal: to steal the gunpowder formula and use it to gain wealth and power. However, he was captured by the Nameless Order when he arrived at the Wall. Seeing that he was somewhat useful, they spared his life and made him teach the Nameless Order members English.

He taught both the strategist Wang and General Lin Mei of the Crane Army English in the main hall. Because he taught the Nameless Order English, he wasn't killed outright. There were quite a few people who came to the Central Plains with him to steal the gunpowder formula, but they all died. Not only did he survive, he also gained the right to move freely within the Great Wall, and even lived comfortably inside the Great Wall.

But Arad was still restless, always thinking about escaping with the gunpowder formula. He also knew about the once-every-sixty-years attack on the Great Wall by the Taotie army, estimating that it would happen in the next few days. Arad believed that when the entire Nameless Order was dealing with the Taotie attack, the guards on the Great Wall would relax their vigilance, and that would be the best time for him to escape.

If he doesn't seize the opportunity, he won't have a chance to leave, regardless of whether the Nameless Army successfully defends the Great Wall or the Taotie army breaches it. He will either die of old age within the Great Wall or be devoured by the Taotie beast soldiers.

Upon hearing from the Eagle Army soldiers of the Nameless Order that they had captured two barbarians, Arad rushed over to inquire about the situation, thinking that perhaps these two men could help him escape.

Arad, hiding in the shadows, overheard Lin Mei's words. Hearing General Lin say that the two were to be executed, he became a little anxious, as their deaths would significantly reduce his chances of escaping.

But he could only watch helplessly; he couldn't very well rush out and beg Commander Shao to spare their lives.
