Post-Apocalyptic Wasteland: The Female Protagonist Has Become a God

Chapter 145 Explanation: Go ask your base commander for it!

"System! What's going on? How can Lu Siyan and I hear each other's thoughts?" Cang Xingyue called out to the system in her mind as soon as she left the laboratory.

The system remained nonchalant, saying, "Don't worry, it's only temporary. You two are currently in a shared destiny state, but you'll be separated in a while."

"To put it bluntly, you two are living like one person now, but after a while you will each live your own lives, and then you won't be able to hear each other's true feelings anymore."

"I see." Cang Xingyue was relieved.

She waited outside the door for a while but Lu Siyan didn't come out. She started to wonder, "What's going on? Is he stuck to me?" But he can teleport, can't he?

"Lu Siyan, why aren't you out yet?" she called out into the laboratory.

"Wait for Yue."

Lu Siyan grabbed the mop octopus's tentacles and slammed it against the wall. "You piece of trash, you think you can ambush me?" He sneered. "You're too weak to even look at me."

A red light suddenly appeared on Lu Siyan's hand. He raised his hand and aimed it at the mop octopus. The red light turned into chains that wrapped around the mop octopus until it was encircled and tightened sharply.

The red light absorbed its energy and continuously returned it to Lu Siyan's palm.

The mop octopus trembled with fear and struggled desperately, but it could not escape the inescapable red light chains that formed a net around it.

"This ability... could it be..." It suddenly realized the identity of the person in front of it and was terrified. "You are... the Zombie King?"

Lu Siyan merely glanced at it coldly and ignored it.

"Your Majesty, spare me, spare me..." The mop octopus, belatedly realizing what was happening, began to beg for mercy.

"You have no right to beg for mercy from me."

After a moment, the mop octopus wilted like a withered plant, lying on the ground like a puddle of mud, and died completely.

In contrast, Lu Siyan looked completely satisfied and radiant. He didn't even glance at the mop octopus's corpse before teleporting out of the laboratory.

Cang Xingyue leaned against the wall with her arms crossed. When she saw him come out, she asked, "What were you doing in there? Why did it take you so long to come out?"

She noticed that Lu Siyan seemed much more energetic after just a short time apart.

"It's nothing, just a meal." He smiled.

Cang Xingyue understood instantly.

"Let's go, let's go out first." She walked over and took Lu Siyan's hand.

Lu Siyan stood there, somewhat flattered, and looked at her with an ambiguous gaze.

"Why are you looking at me? Teleport!"

Lu Siyan was slightly disappointed, and a little angry at the same time. This damn woman rarely took his hand, but she was just using him as a means of transportation!

As soon as the two appeared in the withered garden, they were surrounded by a group of people, all of whom looked angry and hostile.

"The base commander was right after all."

"They are the ones who destroyed our original homes and made us homeless!"

"Catch them, the culprits!"

"Kill them!"

The residents surrounding them shouted louder and louder at them.

Cang Xingyue and Lu Siyan looked at each other, puzzled.

But they all captured two important pieces of information: what the base chief said, and the word "culprit".

From this, we can infer that Fang Yanqing must have said something to these residents, smearing them with the accusations of what he had done, and trying to use them to get rid of them.

Explaining now is useless; after all, it's not so easy to wash off a filthy mess.

Moreover, preconceived notions become prejudices.

They were convinced that the two men were evil, that they had committed heinous acts. Even if they tried to defend themselves, it would be futile, because in the eyes of this group, they were merely making excuses.

The wise choice now is to leave and avoid a fight with them.

Lu Siyan gripped Cang Xingyue's hand tightly.

"Walk."

Cang Xingyue nodded. "Okay."

"Go away!"

Just as the two were about to teleport away, a rough shout came from the crowd.

A burly man with slicked-back hair, sharp eyes, and dark skin stepped out from the crowd, pointing his middle and index fingers at them with a stern expression.

"Neither of you will leave the Nanqi base today. You must give an explanation to this devastated apocalypse! And an explanation to all of us!"

Immediately, someone in the crowd echoed his sentiment.

"Yes, give us an explanation!"

"Give the world an explanation!"

Cang Xingyue sneered: "You should ask your base commander for an explanation!"

Lu Siyan's cold eyes swept across the crowd. "A bunch of brainless idiots who believe everything they hear. Are you really that sure your base commander is a good guy?"

"You are not allowed to slander our base commander. He has devoted himself to this base. How dare you two petty scoundrels fabricate such lies!"

An elderly man with white hair and a hunched back angrily banged his cane on the ground with one hand behind his back and the other.

He pointed his cane at Cang Xingyue again, "I saw you kill Zhao Xuer, what are you still trying to deny!" He was panting heavily, his hand holding the cane trembling uncontrollably.

His words were like a bomb, exploding instantly among the crowd.

"What! Miss Xu'er has been murdered?!"

"Oh my god, I was wondering why I hadn't seen Sister Xu'er all day."

Cang Xingyue frowned after hearing this. Xiao Liu... no, Zhao Xuer, didn't she die in the laboratory long ago, and before Cang Xingyue even went there? How can this be blamed on her?

"Old people need to provide evidence to support their claims. When did I kill her?"

The old man patted his chest, "My presence here is proof!"

“My husband is old and his legs are weak and he is in constant pain. Two hours ago, I went to see Miss Zhao to ask her to treat me.”

"But who knew that as soon as I walked in, I saw you stabbing Miss Zhao in the heart with a knife!" He clutched his chest, gasping for breath, and continued, "If my old man's daughter hadn't been worried about me going out with him and hadn't come to stop me in time, I'm afraid you would have already killed me!"

"This is getting more and more outrageous." Lu Siyan's expression was angry, and he was beginning to get impatient.

Cang Xingyue noticed that Lu Siyan's hand holding hers was trembling slightly. She immediately looked at him and saw that his forehead was covered in a thin layer of sweat and his gray eyes were slowly turning bloodshot.

He was now trying his best to restrain himself—to suppress the intense killing intent in his heart.

These words provoked him so much that they were threatening to drive him to madness.

The Zombie King is prone to rage, and in his fury, he will inevitably commit murder. This is an inherent trait that is difficult for the Zombie King to control.

Cang Xingyue immediately released their clasped hands, turned around and hugged Lu Siyan tightly. She said softly, "It's okay, Lu Siyan. Let's not listen to their nonsense anymore. Let's leave now."

Lu Siyan lowered his head and looked at the person in his arms with gentle eyes, his hand stroking her hair. "A-Yue..." He hugged her back and held her tightly in his arms. "Okay, let's go."

"If you want to leave, you'll have to step over our corpses first!!"
