Orc Undead Sports Warrior

Chapter 6 You need to make sure you are human.

The high jump, long jump, and middle- and long-distance running competitions then began on the track and field, and the competitions were relatively uneventful. Before the morning's events had even ended, most of the spectators had already left, with only a few sports enthusiasts and participating teams remaining in the stadium.

The morning's matches quickly came to an end, and the athletes chose to rest in the stadium's lounge. For this type of competition, each team's budget couldn't guarantee that the athletes would have a comfortable lunch break, so everyone just made do with resting on sofas and chairs.

Lu Wei didn't think the environment was too bad. As an orc, one couldn't choose their resting environment while fighting; finding a place to sleep was a blessing. Long-term war experience made orcs always vigilant during battles. Even with warriors keeping watch for the team, those resting dared not fall into a deep sleep.

In case of an enemy ambush and the sentry is killed, he would have to rely on himself. So, once he was qualified to become a warrior, the battle axe became his best friend. Whenever he was away from the tribe to fight, he would put his weapon within easy reach when he slept.

Compared to the era he once lived in, his life now is so much more stable. After lunch, Lu Wei found a place and fell fast asleep. Compared to the other team members, his ability to withstand pressure is many times better.

The afternoon competition continued. The 400-meter final was the third event of the afternoon, following the 100-meter and 800-meter finals. So, before the competition even started, Lu Wei arrived at the track and field to warm up.

As the captain of the sports academy, Wen Qinglong will be participating in the 5000-meter and 10000-meter races. Although there were no races in the morning, he still dutifully accompanied his teammates to check-in and warm-up exercises.

Among the athletes from the sports academy, Wen Qinglong was the most competitive, and he was chosen as the team captain because of his outstanding specialized skills.

Wen Qinglong found that while he could guide and set expectations for the other team members as captain, he always felt he spoke somewhat submissively when facing Lu Wei. He couldn't blame himself; it was simply that Lu Wei had an overwhelming presence.

"Lu Wei, don't rush to increase your speed in the early stages of the race this afternoon. As long as you can keep up with Hu Yuan and Wu Bin, you'll definitely have a chance in the final 100-meter battle..." Although he was a little afraid of Lu Wei, Wen Qinglong still mustered up his courage to remind him of the precautions for the race.

"Yes, my goal is to win the game." Lu Wei responded to Wen Qinglong's instructions calmly. After the narrow victory in the morning, his goal had become much more realistic.

He knew that his three main opponents in the finals were no weaker than himself, and if he hadn't gritted his teeth and persevered that morning, he probably would have already been overtaken by Tang Yang. However, it was absolutely impossible for him to back down. Considering his current strength, he lowered his goal for the competition to the bare minimum: to defeat all his opponents in the finals.

陆威的记忆力,温庆龙其实是一个实力很均衡的队员。他的100米成绩能够跑到11秒1,200米成绩有22秒5左右,400米成绩能达到48秒左右......几乎在所有的径赛项目里,他都有不错的成绩。

His specialty is middle- and long-distance running, and he has a good understanding of track and field. His suggestions were similar to what Coach Wang said that morning, and he also added his own experiences practicing the 400 meters.

Lu Wei couldn't help but think more highly of this captain, who, despite lacking prestige, possessed considerable ability. His tone wasn't as harsh as it had been that morning. In the orcish world, only the strong were respected; no one sympathized with the weak. Especially those who knew they weren't strong enough yet didn't try; they would certainly be scorned by everyone in the orc tribes.

The afternoon competitions began. Only one group of athletes started the 100m and 800m finals, so the races proceeded quickly. Before long, it was time for the 400m final. Lu Wei had already completed check-in, and the finalists lined up and headed towards the starting line.

"Tang Yang, what were you thinking this morning? You couldn't even beat a kid from your own school! Aren't you ashamed!" Before the team members participating in the finals had even taken a few steps in their line, Wu Bin started teasing Tang Yang. He spoke loudly, making no attempt to hide it from Lu Wei beside him.

"My results this morning were pretty good, not much different from your preliminary results. I'll say it again, if you can do it, then go for it. Look, the opportunity is right in front of you. Good luck, hahaha!" Tang Yang's results were not as good as Hu Yuan's, but they were comparable to Wu Bin's. Faced with this guy's despicable face, he had no intention of letting him win.

He was also burning with ambition. Based on past experience, the top three finishers in the Ningcheng 400-meter race could qualify for the National Championships. Although he couldn't beat Hu Yuan, he could still compete with Wu Bin and Lu Wei, who had beaten him that morning. Especially Wu Bin, who always acted arrogantly towards other track and field team members, relying on his status as an athlete from the district sports institute, which was very off-putting.

Having failed to get the better of Tang Yang, Wu Bin turned to Lu Wei with ill intent: "Young man, not bad. You got first place in the preliminaries by accident this morning, but the finals won't be so easy for you!" As he spoke, he put his hand on Lu Wei's shoulder with the air of a senior.

Wu Bin is only 1.78 meters tall, and it looks very mismatched for him to put his hand on Lu Wei's shoulder.

He hadn't expected to mess with the wrong person this time. Lu Wei flicked his hand, knocking Wu Bin's hand away. The force of the flick sent Wu Bin staggering several steps away, but luckily he managed to maintain his balance and didn't fall to the ground.

Lu Wei turned his head and glanced at Wu Bin. It was that one glance that intimidated the other man with his imposing aura.

"You little brat, don't push your luck! I'll teach you a lesson today!" Although he felt very uncomfortable under Lu Wei's imposing aura, Wu Bin still tried to act tough.

"I'll accompany you however you want, but you need to make sure you're even human first!" Lu Wei turned to face Wu Bin, looking down at him from above.

Wu Bin was clearly intimidated by Lu Wei's imposing presence and didn't dare take another step forward. He wanted to say something but didn't know what to say, standing there awkwardly.

"Alright! Stop fooling around. Let's settle things on the field through the game. What's the point of arguing here!" It was Hu Yuan who spoke. Although he was also disgusted by Wu Bin's foolish behavior of being rebuffed after his performance, he was still a teammate, so his words helped him out of the predicament.

After Hu Yuan finished speaking, he walked towards the starting line without turning his head. The team that had stopped because of the confrontation between the two continued to walk towards the 400-meter starting line.

Standing not far away, Wen Qinglong sighed inwardly, "I didn't expect Lu Wei to be so tough. He's won the battle of momentum before the competition even started. Compared to him, I, as the team captain, only have average influence..."
