Chapter 247 A New Record (The Finale)

On the second day of the 4x100m final, Lu Wei once again won the javelin championship with a crushing victory.

His short two-year athletic career may not have been illustrious, but it was still an amazing experience in his life.

After the Olympics, Lu Wei did not continue his professional career in track and field as others had imagined.

At the end of 2008, Lu Wei embarked on the next chapter of his life's journey.

After nearly a year of training, he appeared in the Dakar Rally.

In this life, cars are one of his greatest interests. Coincidentally, the Dakar Rally doesn't require participants to be professional racers.

This competition can be described as a paradise for the brave. Lu Wei embarked on his Dakar Rally journey with a navigator who was only fluent in Chinese and did not communicate much.

However, apart from a good ranking in the European stage, the other stages were all tough and difficult.

Especially in the African leg, he experienced the desert climate with daily temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius, and the French navigator also experienced the screams of being lifted 20 meters downhill.

Although the two could communicate in French, the course was still too difficult for a complete novice driver with only a few years of experience.

They were once ripped off by African children when they got lost, but managed to get back to the meeting point safely at night. They slept for less than 4 hours before the race started the next day.

Then he continued to get lost, and was followed by wolves for several kilometers late at night before he finally escaped danger.

Fortunately, Lu Wei and his French navigator actually finished the race, though their ranking is another story. The race was so grueling that even Lu Wei felt that experiencing it was enough.

To regain his confidence, Lu Wei then participated in boxing matches. This was practically Lu Wei's forte; he won 30 matches, almost always defeating his opponents instantly.

Although it was exhilarating, the process was incredibly dull. Especially since his later opponents started running laps around the boxing ring with Lu Wei during the match, just to prolong the fight.

This brings us back to track and field. After thinking about it, I think it's better to switch to another event.

Lu Wei then remembered his interest in firearms when he first arrived in this world, and so he started studying shooting again. His precision shooting attempt failed, but he actually won some awards in clay pigeon shooting in China.

The most expensive part of these competitions is the bullets. There was a wealthy man from the UAE who used his money to feed his opponents an Olympic champion.

Because of the French navigator, Lu Wei was invited to participate in a football exhibition match. The original owner of this body had been a football enthusiast during his high school years, so he could manage to play for fun.

Many active football players were invited to this match, and the opponent also included Drogba.

It was supposed to be an exhibition match, but as the game went on, everyone gradually got serious. Drogba thought Lu Wei was just a runner, so he tried to overpower him physically, but he ended up like a little chick in front of Lu Wei, getting completely dominated for most of the game.

It is said that after watching the video of this exhibition match, Wenger thought for a long time about whether to give Lu Wei a try, since Arsenal's defense has been bullied by other Premier League teams for many years.

However, after thinking about it, I decided against it.

After several years of ups and downs, Lu Wei returned to the track and field, experiencing both wins and losses against Bolt. In the following years, his winning percentage increased, perhaps because Bolt, also someone who couldn't bear the loneliness, was distracted by other things.

In the 2016 Rio Olympics final, Lu Wei was 29 years old, and he wanted to try again in the 400-meter race.

The competition was described as the most intense in history. In addition to Lu Wei, there were also 24-year-old South African player Van Niekerk and Grenada player James. Merritt was still on the field and maintained a pretty good form.

Van Niekerk was in lane 9, and because he couldn't see the other team members behind him, he unleashed his full fighting spirit from the start of the race.

"Van Niekerk is in great form today, and the riders behind him are having trouble keeping up with his pace. Lu Wei is in lane 4 and has an excellent start. Can he maintain his dominance in this event today?"

Yang Li was still providing the commentary on television, his tone still passionate; eight years hadn't diminished his memories. The feelings he had during the Beijing Olympics seemed to resurface before his eyes once more.

"On the last straight, Van Niekerk gave it his all, with Lu Wei right behind him. Will they make history today?"

Van Niekerk did not slow down in the final moments and remained in the lead. Will today mark the end of Lu Wei's undefeated history in the 400-meter race?

Oh my god! Lu Wei caught up, and the two were neck and neck. Lu Wei overtook Van Niekerk at the last moment. He is still the champion of this event!

With a time of 42.97 seconds, Lu Wei broke the world record that Michael Johnson had held for 20 years. Michael Johnson was right behind me in the broadcast booth, and he stood up to applaud Lu Wei. A new world record was born.

At the awards ceremony, Lu Wei held his son as they watched the national flag rise to the top of the flagpole.

"The little guy seems very brave; he wasn't shy at all in front of tens of thousands of spectators."

Yang Li's voice also revealed warmth.

The broadcast cameras followed Lu Wei as he went to the audience seats and put his child on the ground. The little guy immediately took the child to his mother's side.

The child's mother is Yin Na, the first girl Lu Wei met after he came into this world. At the time, he mistakenly thought that Yin Na was the one who had given him the blessing of the moon.

As he grew older, Lu Wei regained some of his memories, and the spirit that had once comforted his pain continued to live in his memory.

He felt that Yina was the best gift fate had given him.

"Lu Wei, first of all, congratulations on setting a new world record. Is there anything you would like to say to the viewers in front of the television?"

Facing the microphone, Lu Wei smiled. The man, who was almost 30, looked mature in every way, as if the experiences of two lifetimes were intertwined in one person.

"If Liu Yangyu hadn't met Coach Sun when he was 13, his life might have been very different. He might have been overwhelmed by players like Shen Liang and Zhang Yuanteng, who were more talented in speed, and had no room to survive. If I hadn't met Coach Wang Qiao, I might have been an ordinary office worker after graduating from university, living a mundane life. I am grateful to those who have discovered our shining points in life."
