Orc Undead Sports Warrior

Chapter 22 First Attempt at Shooting

The speaker was Qu Xudong, a coach who had been involved in archery for many years. He found it hard to believe what had just happened. Lu Wei had barely aimed after receiving the bow; he had turned around and hit the target 70 meters away—it was truly unbelievable.

Perhaps it was just a coincidence, which is why he couldn't wait to have Lu Wei do it again. If it were just a coincidence, then there would absolutely be no second time.

"Okay, sure." Lu Wei slung the quiver over his back. It contained ten arrows, and now half of them remained.

Lu Wei turned sideways to face the target and took a deep breath. In modern society, archery is mostly considered a recreational activity. But in his previous life, picking up a bow and arrow meant killing, and Lu Wei unconsciously exuded a strong killing intent.

In his eyes, the target was his enemy.

Qu Xudong and Liu Feiren, standing beside him, couldn't help but feel the intimidating aura emanating from Lu Wei, a feeling that made them feel somewhat suffocated.

After a quick adjustment, Lu Wei immediately took out all five arrows from his quiver and fired them in quick succession, all of which landed on the upper part of the target. Seventy meters away, the other two men could clearly hear the sound of the arrows hitting the target.

Not only Qu Xudong, but even Liu Feiren was stunned. The scene they had just witnessed felt like soldiers on a battlefield shooting down enemies, each arrow powerful and resounding.

After recovering from his shock, Qu Xudong pressed the control button to bring the target closer to him. All five arrows hit the 6th and 7th rings. Although the score was average, the hits were very close together.

"Liu Feiren, the Lu brother you brought is indeed here to challenge us. I am truly impressed by his archery skills..." Qu Xudong found it hard to believe that this shot putter had such excellent archery skills. Compared to himself, it was like the difference between a professional archer and an archery performer.

"Little Lu, your archery skills are truly amazing. I think you could even participate in an archery competition if you practice a bit more." Liu Feiren unintentionally helped Lu Wei successfully challenge the school, and while he was surprised, he praised Lu Wei highly. He didn't care that Lu Wei's performance overshadowed his own.

"Archery competitions require a high level of accuracy. I can only hit the target, and I'm afraid it's difficult to improve my accuracy." Lu Wei was just making excuses for himself. The real reason he was indifferent to archery was that it was his hunting method in his previous life. He had been training for it since he was a child, and it was hard for him to get interested in it.

Qu Xudong glanced at the time in the hall: "The shooting range should have finished training by now. I can't keep you two masters company any longer. Let's see if they can keep you entertained, haha!"

The three of them arrived at the shooting range. At that moment, rifle instructor Zhao Junming was directing his team members to pack up their weapons when he suddenly saw Qu Xudong walking over with Liu Feiren and a burly man.

Before Zhao Junming could speak, Qu Xudong interjected, "Old Zhao, I was just challenged by the guys Liu Feiren brought. Now I've brought them with me. You decide what to do. It's up to you now..."

"What are you talking about? Did you get crushed by Liu Feiren in the archery event? This is hilarious!" When Zhao Junming heard about the challenge, his first thought was that Qu Xudong had never been able to beat the burly man Liu Feiren brought in the archery event.

Qu Xudong embellished the story, and Zhao Junming was quite surprised. He had never seen a sports competition turn into a professional military exercise before, especially since Lu Wei was a shot putter.

"Come on, we've already taken down Lao Qu's place, so what's one more?" He then picked up the air rifle, walked to the shooting position, and demonstrated the key points of the action to Liu Feiren and Lu Wei.

"Eight yuan a bullet. If you two don't go overboard, I can still afford to hire you!" Zhao Junming said, handing the air rifle to Liu Feiren.

Liu Feiren didn't pretend; he picked up the gun and started aiming. After aiming for a long time, he fired a shot that missed the target.

"Haha, 50 meters is too far for me, let's just set it to 15 meters. I'll treat it like an air pistol. When you get here, you have to hit the target with the bullets!"

After adjusting the shooting distance to 15 meters, Liu Feiren was able to hit the target with his next few shots. This distance felt like shooting balloons with a rifle when he was a child.

“No, this project is too difficult. Here, brother, you give it a try!” With that, Liu Feiren handed the air rifle to Lu Wei.

Zhao Junming gave Lu Wei pointers on the techniques, while Qu Xudong carefully observed Lu Wei's movements. Seeing Lu Wei's very clumsy gun-holding posture, Qu Xudong was certain that he had never handled firearms before. However, Lu Wei showed significantly more interest in archery than in shooting it.

Following Zhao Junming's instructions, Lu Wei aimed the gun at the bullseye and pulled the trigger. The instant the bullet left the barrel, Lu Wei felt his arm jerk slightly from the recoil of the air gun.

The recoil from the shot caught Lu Wei off guard, and the shot unsurprisingly missed the target.

Having learned from his first experience, Lu Wei deliberately adjusted the crosshair downwards when firing his second shot, and used his arm to prevent the muzzle from rising at the moment of firing.

The second shot finally hit the target, albeit barely. Seeing that he had at least hit the mark, Lu Wei felt a great sense of relief. As a proud orc, it would be too shameful to be bad at using human weapons.

In fact, hitting the 15-meter target with two shots is only considered acceptable. Liu Feiren often played this game when he was a child, and he could hit the target with the first shot.

Zhao Junming reminded Lu Wei that his movements were a bit stiff just now and that he could relax a bit.

Lu Wei took longer to adjust this time than he did for the second shot. He found that if he didn't adjust his breathing properly, the aim of the gun would rise and fall with his breathing, which would definitely make it difficult to shoot.

Once his breathing had stabilized, Lu Wei's finger pulled the trigger.

The shot hit the middle of the target; Lu Wei had already gotten used to shooting with a rifle.

Then Zhao Junming moved the distance back 15 meters, making the shooting distance 30 meters.

This time, Lu Wei silently recited the shooting techniques Zhao Junming had taught him, and then fired. The first shot hit the target, which made the three people next to him applaud.

"You are indeed outstanding athletes with a strong ability to understand and learn. With your kind of athletic sense, you would definitely succeed in other sports as well. I, Qu Xudong, admire you!"

Lu Wei felt he hadn't had enough fun yet, but it wasn't appropriate to let the other three watch him shoot alone.

"Thank you both for your guidance, shooting is a lot of fun!" Lu Wei put down his gun and thanked the two coaches.

"You're welcome. I don't think this Brother Lu has ever been exposed to shooting before, but he grasped the essentials of air rifle shooting in just a few shots. He's very talented. If you'd like to come over in the next few days, you can contact me in advance. As long as you're free, we can exchange ideas." Zhao Junming admired Lu Wei's ability to learn from his own experience when he first started shooting. He realized he was far inferior to Lu Wei.

This was Lu Wei's first experience with this type of weapon that fires in a straight line. After returning to his hotel and lying down, he still felt itchy to try it again, thinking about the scene of aiming and firing. He would definitely try it again if he had the chance in the future.
