Chapter 17 The Mad Spider-Man

"Children's Day is over, why is someone still performing here?" People downstairs looked at the person and discussed with puzzlement.

Less than two minutes later, this "Spider-Man" had already climbed to the 8th floor. Only then did everyone realize that he wasn't doing an activity, but was climbing to the roof.

After reaching the 8th floor, "Spider-Man" stopped, picked up his phone to answer a call, and then gave a thumbs-up to the people below.

At this moment, Lu Wei also came downstairs. The person climbing the Jin Mao Tower looked to be less than 1.7 meters tall. He was very agile, dodging and weaving in the air, and instantly ascended another floor.

White-collar workers on the lower floors of the Jin Mao Tower had already come out of the building and started pointing at "Spider-Man" and discussing it. The building's security personnel also stood downstairs and looked up.

"Isn't this playing with his life? He's not wearing any protective gear, he's climbing completely barehanded! Captain, should we intercept him in the middle?" A building security guard asked his superior, and the other security guards also looked at their superiors with questioning eyes.

"Don't panic! Forcibly stopping him might cause him to panic. If he falls, none of you can take responsibility. Call the police immediately, explain what happened, and request as much support as possible!"

Spider-Man's upward climb was a little slower than before, but still quite fast.

Before long, he had climbed up to the office building area. It was clear that many white-collar workers were surprised to see him from their windows and then eagerly took out their phones to take pictures and videos.

Upon seeing people taking photos, "Spider-Man" cooperated by striking various poses in the air, even clamping his legs around the scaffolding on the exterior wall and raising his hands high, eliciting gasps from the audience below.

After acting cute towards the white-collar workers inside the window, "Spider-Man continued climbing upwards, moving very fast and rarely stopping to rest."

"My goodness, has this person gone mad?" Wen Qinglong was so shocked he couldn't close his mouth, and the others present had similar reactions.

Five minutes later, a large number of rescue forces, including police, public security officers, and firefighters, quickly arrived at the scene. The "Spider-Man" had already climbed to about the 30th floor of the Jin Mao Tower. Police officers immediately set up a cordon, evacuated onlookers, and assigned personnel to observe from the inner floors to deploy rescue measures. To prevent the climber from falling, police set up a protective air cushion and dispatched officers to the roof to prepare to lower a basket from the top floor, but this could not be carried out due to strong winds at that height.

Upon reaching the first exterior platform of the main building, "Spider-Man" circled around to the side of the main building facing the Garden Stone Bridge Road, and then climbed straight up along the middle of this side of the building, rarely taking a break along the way.

In just a few minutes, "Spider-Man" continued climbing upwards, quickly surpassing the 50th floor. The Jin Mao Tower has 88 floors in total, and his climb was now in its second half.

After all, climbing the 88-story Jin Mao Tower is an easy feat. Despite his excellent training, it's clear that "Spider-Man's" physical abilities are starting to decline, and he stops to rest from time to time. However, upon seeing people taking pictures, he still struck various poses to please them with his characteristic flair.

"Crazy! Still trying to be funny even at a time like this..." Lu Wei was starting to worry for "Spider-Man." At first, when he was doing dangerous stunts on the first few floors, Lu Wei looked down on him, thinking he was just a clown. But as he climbed higher, Lu Wei gradually began to respect him and secretly cheered him on.

Everyone's hearts were in their throats, fearing he might slip and fall. Although safety measures were in place on the 30th floor, if he hit the edge of the floor upon falling, he would likely suffer serious injury, if not death.

Fortunately, despite his initial unsteady steps, Spider-Man persisted in climbing upwards, and after nearly half an hour, he finally reached the rooftop.

Everyone present breathed a sigh of relief; those half an hour was even more exciting than watching a blockbuster movie.

But what happened next made everyone tense again. After resting on the top of the building for a few minutes, "Spider-Man" did not enter the building from the roof, but continued to return along the same route.

Climbing this 88-story building is no easy feat, and descending is even more difficult. For the average person, let alone sliding downhill, simply not feeling dizzy at the 88th floor is already a testament to exceptional physical strength and courage.

Spider-Man was also extra careful, since going up there was a lot of physical exertion, and it would be difficult to recover in just a few minutes of rest.

"Why are you doing this to yourself!" Lu Wei shook his head. He found it hard to understand such behavior of disregarding one's life for a moment of pleasure.

However, once he found his rhythm, his speed increased again. In the main building, he clung to the scaffolding on the exterior wall and slid down to the 30th floor in no time.

Police and firefighters had already set up safety harnesses on the 30th floor, waiting for him to land safely. However, "Spider-Man" was unmoved and continued down the exterior wall, finally returning to his starting point 10 minutes later.

"Well done! I've learned something new in my life!"

"You're the boss, I'll submit to you today!"

Applause and cheers immediately erupted from the crowd.

After "Spider-Man" left the scene, the police immediately dispersed the surrounding crowd of onlookers. One of them approached "Spider-Man" and said, "According to Article 23, Paragraph 1, Item 2 of the 'Law of the People's Republic of China on Penalties for Administration of Public Security'..."

At this point, the policeman suddenly froze. Spider-Man took off his hat, revealing blond hair, and wore a bright smile because he had just accomplished a "feat".

So he's a foreigner. If we keep talking like that, it'll be like talking to a brick wall. Unless....

"Hello, can you understand what I'm saying?" The police officer wanted to see if "Spider-Man" could understand Mandarin. "Spider-Man" looked confused, then said to the surrounding crowd, "I did it! Cheer for me! Hahaha!" Clearly, he didn't understand Mandarin...

Those around him were also baffled. If he were speaking English, anyone in the crowd could translate it with a high degree of accuracy. However, these office workers couldn't understand what he was saying either.

"He speaks French, it's a pity I didn't study it properly in college..." Someone recognized Spider-Man's language, but still no one could strike up a conversation with him.

"Dude, don't get too excited yet. You're probably in trouble today." Everyone looked in the direction of the voice, and it turned out to be Lu Wei.

Lu Wei suddenly realized that the previous owner of this body wasn't entirely useless. Lu's mother was a graduate of a well-known foreign language college in China and had taught Lu Wei English and French since he was a child.

Spider-Man was even happier to see someone able to communicate with him: "This is no big deal! This isn't the first time I've been arrested. I was mentally prepared. But no one can stop me from conquering these skyscrapers. I came here 10 years ago and climbed to the 66th floor before being taken away by the police. Today, I finally succeeded!"
