[GB] Boss Ruan, your husband doesn't want you anymore.

Chapter 78 There is a Fish in the Northern Sea

The woman gently nudged Huo Jingmo and asked softly, "Are you alright?"

Huo Jingmo opened his eyes impatiently, shook his head and said, "It's nothing, thank you. Have we arrived?"

The woman said with concern, "Why do you look so pale?"

Huo Jingmo leaned back in his chair, drenched in sweat from the pain, and said with his eyes half-open, "I'm fine."

Huo Jingmo wanted to open the door, go out, and say thank you, but as he stepped out, he found that his weak legs were limp, and he swayed precariously while holding onto the car door.

The woman hurriedly got out of the car to help the staggering Huo Jingmo: "Look at you, where can you go?"

Huo Jingmo leaned weakly against the woman's chest, one hand covering his stomach, the other being supported by the woman.

When Huo Jingmo recovered, he pushed away the woman's hand that was stroking him, but did not break free.

But the woman held him firmly, and Huo Jingmo looked at her coldly: "What do you mean?"

The woman just smiled and said, "You're too weak. I'm afraid you'll fall if I let go."

Huo Jingmo coldly refused: "No, let go."

The woman looked at Huo Jingmo's indifferent eyes, released her grip, and smiled.

Huo Jingmo looked the woman up and down, then softened his tone and asked, "What's your name?"

“You have helped me, and I will repay you, but that is not a reason for you to lay a hand on me.”

The woman raised her hands in a gesture of surrender and said, "Don't be so serious, I was just too worried about you."

The woman chuckled and said, "You can just call me Bei Ming."

Huo Jingmo looked at her in confusion, wondering why she was being so attentive to him, but still politely replied, "I understand, Bei Ming."

"Thank you for bringing me here."

He surveyed the surrounding buildings; it was an upscale residential area, but he didn't know the specific rooms, and he didn't want to trouble Bei Ming any further.

Bei Ming was too enthusiastic towards him, which made him feel uncomfortable.

So he said to Beiming, "Send me here."

Bei Ming smiled and said, "Okay, I believe we'll meet again soon."

Huo Jingmo stood in the security booth waiting for his mother to come down; he had almost been apprehended by the security guards earlier.

Fortunately, he reacted quickly, explained the situation to the security guard, and even called his mother to ask her to come down and pick him up.

He sat on a stone step, hugging his knees, quietly waiting for Huo's mother.

He had neither a cell phone nor a watch, so he didn't know how long he had been waiting.

Huo's mother arrived late, and her first reaction upon seeing Huo Jingmo was not worry but rather panic.

Without a word, Huo's mother led the disheveled Huo Jingmo into the house where she was currently living.

It seemed that Huo's mother had long anticipated that Huo Jingmo would be like this.

Pointing to the clothes in the bathroom, she said to him, "Go wash up."

Huo Jingmo glanced at his somewhat unfamiliar mother and nodded a little awkwardly.

Knowing that her mother would be disgusted by her dirty clothes, she didn't rush to ask any questions and obediently went to take a bath.

He took off his dirty clothes, which were stained with blood.

The water splashed on his head, causing him to feel pain again. He uncontrollably leaned against the wall and slowly knelt down on the ground, feeling dizzy.

Fortunately, his stomach pain has subsided, but he can still bear the headache.

After a long pause, he slowly stood up.

The blood disappeared without a trace through the drain.

He only felt alive again after the water washed everything off his body.

"Did they escape?" Huo Jingmo thought, "That's a bit too simplistic."

He shook his hair, wiped it, and saw the first-aid kit lying there.

As she picked it up and bandaged herself, she thought that she would explain things properly to Ruan Qian'an when he was no longer in such a passive position.

He came out of the bathroom and went to find Huo's mother, wanting to ask her what she meant by what she said.

The words recorded on that voice recorder were only partial; he wanted to know the whole story.

When he came out, he saw Huo's mother sitting uneasily on the sofa. She forced a smile and said, "Jingmo, go and rest after you take a shower."

Huo Jingmo frowned, looking at his unusually abnormal mother, and asked, "What's wrong with you?"

Even though summer had passed, Mrs. Huo was sweating profusely and looked extremely anxious.

Mrs. Huo waved her hand and said, "It's alright, you should get some rest."

Huo Jingmo stared intently at his mother, then asked, "Ruan Qian'an came to see you, didn't she?"

"What exactly did she say to you?"

Mrs. Huo shook her head hurriedly and said, "No, no, you should go and rest. I'll cook for you."

Huo Jingmo sighed, thinking that if he really wanted to cook for him, he would have done it while Huo Jingmo was taking a shower. Why would he go now? It was clearly an attempt to avoid him.

But Huo Jingmo didn't intend to make things difficult for his mother. He simply pulled her over and pressed her onto the sofa, saying, "Alright, when have you ever cooked? I'll go."

Looking at Huo Jingmo, Huo's mother's lips trembled, somewhat reluctant, but in the end she didn't say anything. Her eyes reddened slightly as she turned her head to the side, no longer looking at him.

Mrs. Huo wiped her eyes, removing the faint traces of tears.

hypocritically.

Huo Jingmo went into the kitchen and searched around, finding only some green vegetables and noodles. There was nothing else.

He sighed; all he could do was make plain noodles.

Before it was ready, Huo's mother came into the kitchen, holding her phone, and said, "It's for you."

Huo Jingmo: "Looking for me?"

He reached out and took it, and Bei Ming's voice came from the other end: "Hey, Huo Jingmo."

Huo Jingmo disliked Bei Ming's friendly tone but didn't show it, simply asking, "Is there something you need?"

Bei Ming smiled and said, "I live near your house. Would you like to come down for dinner?"

Huo Jingmo: "No, I've already cooked dinner."

Bei Ming chuckled on the other end: "Just plain noodles? You're still injured, how can you eat this?"

Huo Jingmo's expression gradually turned serious upon hearing Bei Ming's words: "You're spying on me?"

Bei Ming narrowed his eyes: "Oh."

"Of course not, because I know Aunt Huo. I recognized her on the phone just now, I'm not lying to you."

Huo Jingmo breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this and apologized for his rudeness earlier: "Sorry, I got a little excited."

He paused for a moment and then said, "I'll treat you to dinner tomorrow."

"I made this myself, I hope you won't mind."

There was a long silence on the other end, with only shallow breathing that could be heard. Just when Huo Jingmo thought she was disgusted.

Bei Ming said happily, "Okay, then I'll come to your house tomorrow."

Huo Jingmo simply said "okay" and hung up the phone.

Huo Jingmo looked at his reflection in the window; all his encounters with Bei Ming were too coincidental.

He regained his composure, picked up the noodles, and went outside, realizing that this was the only way; he didn't even have enough money to treat anyone to a meal.

Huo Jingmo and his mother sat facing each other, eating in silence. Every time Huo Jingmo tried to say something, his mother would interrupt and change the subject.

After finishing her meal quickly, Mrs. Huo returned to her room.

Huo Jingmo tightened his grip on the chopsticks. Did he not even deserve an explanation? He was the one who had been abandoned.

It's already a good thing that they took him in; I thought he would be kicked out immediately.

Huo Jingmo smiled and thought.

It couldn't get any worse.

After finishing the meal and clearing away the dishes, I noticed that one of the bedroom doors was open, presumably reserved for him.

Huo Jingmo fell into a deep sleep as soon as he got into bed, feeling overwhelmed by the recent events.

This made him forget a crucial question: why was Huo's mother in City B and who found this house for her?

the next morning

Huo Jingmo asked his mother about nearby supermarkets and then went to buy things to entertain Bei Ming.

After all, she had saved his life; otherwise, he didn't know how long he would have wandered aimlessly in that desolate wilderness.

When he returned and didn't see his mother, he assumed she had gone back to get her beauty sleep.

But after he finished cooking, he still couldn't find Huo's mother, and he realized something was wrong.

He called out several times, but no one answered.

Huo Jingmo knocked on his mother's door, but no one answered. He was about to open the door and go in.

The doorbell rang, and Huo Jingmo released the handle he was turning.

He went to open the door, and when Huo Jingmo opened it, he saw that it wasn't his mother, but Bei Ming.

Didn't you go out? Are you still sleeping?

Huo Jingmo said to Bei Ming, "You've come at the perfect time; I just finished cooking."

Bei Ming smiled broadly and said, "It's better to arrive at the right time than to arrive early."

Huo Jingmo took a pair of disposable slippers from the shoe cabinet and handed them to Bei Ming: "Come in quickly."

Bei Ming took the shoes and put them on, asking as he walked inside, "Where's Aunt Huo?"

Huo Jingmo glanced at the closed door and thought for a moment before saying, "She's sleeping. If we force her to wake up, she'll get angry."

"Don't worry about him, you eat first. We can't let you, a guest, wait."

Bei Ming nodded.

The two chatted and laughed as they finished their meal.

After they finished eating, Bei Ming insisted on washing the dishes.

Huo Jingmo said, quite embarrassed, "You're a guest, how can I ask you to wash? Please leave."

Bei Ming chuckled: "You're still a patient."

The two argued for a while, but in the end, they completed it together.

Huo Jingmo stepped out of the kitchen ahead of time and said to Bei Ming, "I'll get you a glass of water."

He walked to the dining table, poured himself a glass of water, and was about to go into the kitchen when he caught a glimpse of someone sitting on the sofa in the living room.

He walked toward the living room and met a pair of deep, cold eyes.
