Tick tock.

Ruan Qian'an stared at the medicine bottle, feeling a pain in her eyes. It turned out that she had been staring at it without blinking, which made her eyes sore.

She looked away and blinked to make her eyes feel better.

Chen Siqi appeared next to Ruan Qian'an and said, "Miss Bai Xiao said she wouldn't disturb you any longer and will be leaving now."

Then he said, "Tell me when you'd like to meet again."

Ruan Qian'an: "Mm."

Then, amused, she said, "Did she bring her strategist with her?"

Chen Siqi smiled and asked, "Boss, what do you think of Bai Xiao?"

Ruan Qian'an objectively commented: "Quite bold."

Ruan Qian'an twitched the corner of her mouth and said, "To be able to fight her way out of Alan, she is definitely not as simple as she seems on the surface, and the strategist she mentioned must be a smart person."

Ruan Qian'an chuckled, "An interesting combination."

Then Ruan Qian'an asked Chen Siqi, "Is that why you're interested in them?"

Chen Si nodded and said with interest, "Yes, that's why I'm wondering if they might fall apart because of certain interests."

Ruan Qian'an muttered lightly, "A perverse sense of humor."

Huo Jingmo groaned uncontrollably on the bed. Ruan Qian'an waved her hand at Chen Siqi and said, "Get out, this is not the place to talk."

Ruan Qian'an propped her head up, seemingly lost in thought, and looked at Huo Jingmo with a cold gaze.

Suddenly, he called out to Chen Siqi, who was about to leave, "Let's send him away when he's sober."

Chen Siqi stopped and asked, "Mr. Huo?"

Ruan Qian'an nodded.

Chen Siqi asked in confusion, "Then, boss, what's the point of you kidnapping him and bringing him here?"

Chen Siqi met Ruan Qian'an's gaze, said nothing more, and walked out.

Ruan Qian'an said with a smile, "Huo Jingmo, you should be very happy that I'm letting you go."

“I think you will go to your mother. After all, you are homeless and would want an answer or a reason, right?” Ruan Qian’an murmured.

The room was quiet except for the sound of Ruan Qian'an turning the pages of a book.

Huo Jingmo slowly woke up while lying on his side in bed. He had a soft pillow under him, so lying on his side wasn't so uncomfortable; on the contrary, it was quite comfortable.

The moment he opened his eyes, he saw Ruan Qian'an sitting on the sofa, reading a book.

The moment he opened his eyes, Ruan Qian'an looked up from her book and met his gaze, saying, "Awake?"

Huo Jingmo hummed in agreement, then said in a hoarse voice, "Water."

Ruan Qian'an raised her chin slightly to indicate that there was something on the table, then lowered her head to continue reading.

Huo Jingmo had an injured hand and an IV drip in the other. After thinking for a moment, he decided to use the hand with the IV drip to pick it up.

However, he was completely powerless and fell to the ground with a loud thud.

As he fell, Huo Jingmo instinctively braced himself with his injured hand, a movement that made him gasp. Fortunately, the IV needle hadn't been pulled out.

Huo Jingmo glanced at Ruan Qian'an and noticed that she didn't even lift her head. He pursed his dry lips, then stood up shakily, supporting himself on the bed.

He picked up the water glass and took a sip. The icy water slid down his hoarse throat, causing him pain, as if he were swallowing razor blades.

Ruan Qian'an suddenly stood up, and Huo Jingmo's hand holding the cup froze, momentarily forgetting to move.

Cool water flowed from his mouth. Ruan Qian'an raised her hand, and Huo Jingmo couldn't help but tremble.

But Ruan Qian'an simply picked up the medicine bottle and replaced it with a new one for him.

Huo Jingmo breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that she didn't make any other moves. He didn't bother to wipe the water off his body and quickly crawled into the quilt, as if only in this way could he feel safe.

Huo Jingmo's reaction naturally caught Ruan Qian'an's attention. She stopped herself from wiping his hand.

Ruan Qian'an sat back down on the sofa and started reading, while Huo Jingmo lay on the bed, his eyes wide open, glancing at Ruan Qian'an warily from time to time.

When Ruan Qian'an looked in his direction, he turned away again, but then wanted to say something to her. However, his eyes were filled with fear of Ruan Qian'an, so he dared not meet her gaze.

Ruan Qian'an closed the book, closed her eyes, and rolled her eyeballs to relax. Although she could see clearly more clearly in a short time, she would get tired after looking at it for a long time.

Huo Jingmo, lying in bed, kept a close eye on Ruan Qian'an's every move.

He clenched his fists, about to speak and explain everything to Ruan Qian'an.

Ruan Qian'an walked out first, without even glancing at Huo Jingmo.

Huo Jingmo stared blankly at Ruan Qian'an as she walked away, but ultimately didn't call her back, which made him somewhat annoyed.

When did I become so useless?

Huo Jingmo received injections for three days before he fully recovered, and he couldn't help but sigh in bed.

He hadn't seen Ruan Qian'an even once in the past three days, and he was even too embarrassed to go out.

Because the only clothes Ruan Qian'an dressed him in were a loose-fitting shirt that could only cover his buttocks and his private parts.

They didn't even prepare underwear for him; how was he supposed to go out?

Definitely intentional.

What's the difference between going out like this and running naked?

Huo Jingmo waited for two more days but still didn't see her. He knew he couldn't wait any longer. These past few days he had been living in fear that Ruan Qian'an would come and torment him one day.

So Huo Jingmo hesitated for a long time while holding the doorknob before finally reaching out and opening the door.

He stepped out barefoot, immediately feeling the coldness under his feet and pulling back. There was no carpet in the hallway.

He didn't want to go back and put on his shoes; it would be troublesome if someone came later.

He looked left and right and, finding no one there, finally stepped out.

She pulled her clothes down with one hand to avoid accidentally exposing herself.

Huo Jingmo had no idea where Ruan Qian'an was, and was wandering around like a headless fly.

This was a place he had never been before, as solemn and beautiful as a castle.

Huo Jingmo wandered around and heard voices, so he walked in that direction.

They arrived at Ruan Qian'an's study, the door of which was slightly ajar.

He opened the door and went inside. The sounds inside were even clearer. The room was full of books. Further inside was a huge space with sofas placed casually, tables and chairs in the middle, and bookshelves filled with books on all four walls.

Those people didn't notice him, but he saw Ruan Qian'an sitting on a single sofa, dozing off.

Chen Siqi sat on the wide armrest of the sofa and massaged Ruan Qian'an's shoulders, as if he was about to lie down in her arms.

Ruan Qian'an showed no resistance, and their actions appeared quite intimate.

Huo Jingmo felt a deep bitterness in his heart. Was he not seeing him because he was with someone else?

There were a few people sitting at the long table, including Chi Xiao and Yan Ling, whom he recognized. The other two were probably guests and had their backs to him.

He couldn't see the other person's face, nor would he recognize who it was.

Ruan Qian'an opened her eyes as if she had sensed something and met Huo Jingmo's gaze through the gap in the book.

She curled her lips into a smile and said, "Come here."

Upon hearing Ruan Qian'an's words, the group stopped talking and looked in the direction Ruan Qian'an was looking, where they saw Huo Jingmo.

Huo Jingmo frowned, clearly displeased. He remained behind the bookshelf, knowing that Ruan Qian'an was deliberately trying to embarrass him.

Ruan Qian'an glanced at Chen Siqi sitting next to her, patted his hand, and pointed to the chair next to the table, saying, "Go over there."

Huo Jingmo found this scene extremely ironic. He remembered that Ruan Qian'an had treated him with the same gentleness before, but unfortunately, her gentleness towards him was just an act. Her gentleness towards Chen Siqi, however, was genuine.
