Ruan Qian'an heard a faint sound, which, though small, exploded in her mind.

She blinked slowly. Then she lay down straight on the ruins.

Ruan Qian'an could hear a faint sound; someone was walking towards her and touching her cheek.

Huo Jingmo: "Ruan Qian'an!"

While shouting, Huo Jingmo used his hands to tear off the skin from Ruan Qian'an's face.

Ruan Qian'an's skin had long since become one with her real flesh and blood, and the sudden tearing made her let out a soft cry of pain.

Then Ruan Qian'an felt someone leaning towards her, and she quickly grabbed Huo Jingmo's stomach to prevent him from being pressed down.

"Be careful."

When Huo Jingmo saw Ruan Qian'an, his expression was first one of shock, then anger surged into his eyes like a tidal wave, his eyes seeming to spit fire.

Afterwards, he calmly stood up and stepped on Ruan Qian'an's thigh with one foot, on Ruan Qian'an's injured leg.

However, Ruan Qian'an only let out a muffled groan, and thoughtfully supported his stomach as he approached.

Huo Jingmo's face remained expressionless as he raised his hand and waved it in front of Ruan Qian'an's eyes. Ruan Qian'an, oblivious, continued to say to Huo Jingmo, "Be careful."

Huo Jingmo simply said, "This is truly gratifying." His words would have been even more convincing if his hands hadn't trembled.

Huo Jingmo plunged a knife into Ruan Qian'an's shoulder and said, "Ruan Qian'an, aren't you going to give me a reasonable explanation?"

"Why do you keep using this trick to get closer to me?! How long do you intend to hurt me?!"

Huo Jingmo twirled the dagger in his hand: "Is it fun? Is it fun to play me around like this?!"

Ruan Qian'an was filled with pain and helplessness. She opened her mouth, but found that any further explanation would be pale and powerless.

As Ruan Qian'an leaned against the ruins, she could only feel a knife piercing her shoulder.

This time, as if she had been prepared, she didn't make a sound, and suddenly the oppressive feeling in front of her disappeared.

Then came the sound of a dagger being thrown away, followed by Huo Jingmo's cold voice: "Never see you again."

Ruan Qian'an didn't know what to say, or what she could say, and she didn't know what kind of expression she had.

She had no idea that Huo Jingmo was pointing a gun at her, nor that Huo Jingmo was being held at gunpoint by 07, while Wu Ying was trying to stop him.

Huo Jingmo glanced coldly at 07 and suddenly felt that it wasn't worth losing his life for someone like that. So he put the gun away.

Huo Jingmo knew perfectly well that if Wu Ying hadn't stopped him, he would probably have been shot dead by 07 by now.

Huo Jingmo gave a slightly mocking laugh. He couldn't kill Ruan Qian'an, and he was even more helpless against her.

Huo Jingmo said to Ruan Qian'an, "Stop your ridiculous tricks, Ruan Qian'an. You either go to hell or get the hell out of here. I never want to see you again."

Huo Jingmo's eyes were red, it was hard to tell whether it was because he couldn't bring himself to do it or because he was being threatened by someone else.

This caused him immense pain. He sat back in his wheelchair.

Wu Ying was already quite tormented by this scene, and unconsciously tightened her grip on 07's hand.

And she reprimanded 07, "Put the gun down right now." Although it was a reprimand, she spoke in a voice only the two of them could hear.

07 only put down the weapon in his hand when he saw that Huo Jingmo was no longer a threat.

Looking at 07's expressionless face, Wu Ying said, "Don't be so naive. This is not something you can get involved in."

07 answered her in a hoarse voice, "He...is...harming...Ruan Qian'an!"

Wu Ying covered her face, unable to reason with this cold, emotionless person who had no human thoughts: "Just know that you shouldn't get involved in these kinds of things in the future."

07 turned around and saw that he didn't want to listen to Wu Ying's lecture. Wu Ying was helpless.

07 He went towards where Ruan Qian'an was, tore off his own clothes and bandaged Ruan Qian'an's wounds.

At this moment, Ruan Qian'an had no idea who came to bandage her up, but she didn't move at all.

A profound sense of pessimism had already taken hold of Ruan Qian'an, and Huo Jingmo's discovery was nothing short of a devastating blow to her.

Lost in thought, 07 didn't even notice after bandaging her leg. 07 looked at Ruan Qian'an's slightly bent leg with some unease, not daring to touch it.

But she could only bite the bullet and touch it, gently asking, "How does it feel?"

Ruan Qian'an: "It's alright, don't worry about it."

Ruan Qian'an asked Wu Ying, "How is it? Have they arrived?"

Wu Ying walked up to Ruan Qian'an and said, "They've arrived, but we didn't come out through the original exit. Instead, we came out through another exit, so it will take Li Ang and the others a while to get here."

Ruan Qian'an nodded.

They had barely finished speaking when they heard a huge roar. Wu Ying frowned, looked at the helicopter, and said to Ruan Qian'an, "It's not one of ours."

"Get hidden quickly."

The test subject moved quickly, pulling the wounded man to a hiding place.

The helicopter circled several times before finally finding an open space to land.

The other helicopters did not stop, but instead lowered their landing ropes and slid down from above.

They landed in an open area and quickly searched the place where Ruan Qian'an and the others had just been.

Ruan Qian'an asked Wu Ying, "How many people are there?"

Wu Ying said, "I estimate there are twenty."

Ruan Qian'an: "Who are they?"

Wu Ying: "Judging from their clothes, they seem to be soldiers." Wu Ying frowned and said, "I don't know which country they are from. This place is remote, so it shouldn't have alerted anyone."

"Given Wuqing's connections, even if this small island were to sink, it wouldn't alert these people."

Ruan Qian'an: "Then it seems that one of us tipped us off."

Wu Ying looked at Huo Jingmo, but Huo Jingmo ignored her questioning gaze and instead said to Ruan Qian'an, "That's right, I was the one who informed you."

Huo Jingmo coldly retorted, "What? You want to kill me?"

Ruan Qian'an remained silent, inwardly refuting that she didn't mean it that way at all; she was just analyzing the situation.

Ruan Qian'an knew who Huo Jingmo had notified, but still asked, "Ji Tian?"

Huo Jingmo nodded, then, realizing that Ruan Qian'an couldn't see, said, "Yes."

Meanwhile, 07 was already itching to deliver a fatal blow to Huo Jingmo.

Ruan Qian'an looked blankly at where Huo Jingmo was, and finally revealed a smile that could be described as relief.

Despite being internally twisted, he still pretended to be relaxed and said, "07, send Huo Jingmo to Ji Tian's side."

She said in a low, somber tone, "Protect him."

Her palms nearly bled from being pinched. Ruan Qian'an: "Clean yourself up properly, don't embarrass me."

07 nodded, wiped the dirt off her face, and pushed Huo Jingmo out.

As the two walked out, Wu Ying asked with some concern, "Why did you let 07 take Huo Jingmo out? Aren't you afraid 07 will hurt him?"

Ruan Qian'an said, "The lives of these experimental subjects were saved by Huo Jingmo, so why would they hurt Huo Jingmo?"

Wu Ying thought about the unfriendly look 07 gave Huo Jingmo, but still followed him.

Ruan Qian'an twitched the corner of her mouth, her hand bleeding from her nails from gripping too hard. Could Wu Ying really like Huo Jingmo?
