The War of Resistance Against Japan: Special Operations Battalion Traverses Shanghai and Slaughters
Chapter 57 Tooth for tooth, blood for blood
Kihei Miyoshi and Shiro Inoue, hiding in what they considered a secluded spot, smoked and anxiously awaited the arrival of the bombers and the 7th Wing.
Before I could even finish my cigarette, I heard a whooshing sound.
"Oh no, the Chinese army has started shelling! Everyone take cover immediately..."
Despite his quick reaction, Miyoshi Kihei was no match for the speed of the shells. Before he could even finish shouting for cover, twenty mortar shells exploded in the Japanese ranks.
Although the 35th Regiment had lost a third of its head, there were still more than 2,000 head remaining, all crammed together on the west side of the town, and the density was still very high.
So after those twenty shells exploded, they also detonated dozens of landmines, directly causing four or five hundred casualties among the Japanese soldiers.
Knowing that the enemy would not only bombard them once, the remaining Japanese soldiers hurriedly scattered and fled in all directions, each seeking a safe place to avoid the artillery fire.
In their panic, they overlooked the fact that the town was also riddled with landmines.
Before the second round of shells even landed, the Japanese soldiers stepped on seventy or eighty landmines, and another two or three hundred fell instantly.
After two rounds of shelling, the special forces soldiers began to adjust their firing coordinates and then continued shelling.
The Japanese soldiers in the town fled in panic, but while they could escape the explosions of mortar shells, they could not escape the damage from landmines.
In just over ten minutes, the special operations battalion soldiers bombarded Taiping Town with mortars like plowing a field.
Of the Japanese 35th Regiment, only five or six hundred are still alive.
There were only twenty or thirty completely uninjured.
Inoue Shiro was a bit clever; instead of running around, he protected Miyoshi Kihei and stayed in one place.
Because the place they were in was at an angle, with walls on three sides, it could block most of the shell shrapnel and the shock wave of the explosion.
Apart from being covered in dust, Kihei Miyoshi was not injured.
However, Inoue Shiro was not so lucky. His legs were hit by shrapnel, and he was bleeding profusely and unable to stand.
Of the five or six Japanese soldiers who were protecting the two, only one was still alive, but he was seriously injured.
Given the current situation, the 35th Regiment can be said to have completely lost its combat capability.
After the shelling, Long Fei ordered Tiger tanks to clear the way and enter Taiping Town simultaneously from the east and west.
"Inoue-kun, it seems we will not be able to wait for reinforcements to arrive, and we will all be destroyed soon."
"I don't want to be a prisoner. Please shoot me, thank you."
Inoue Shiro was in excruciating pain, and seeing the wounds on his legs bleeding profusely, he even wanted Miyoshi Kihei to bandage them for him.
When Miyoshi Kihei saw that Inoue Shiro was ignoring him, he had no choice but to repeat himself.
"Inoue-kun, please give me a quick death. I don't want to be a prisoner. I want to serve the Emperor."
Unexpectedly, Inoue Shiro became extremely disgusted by the hysterical shouting.
"If you want to be loyal, then commit seppuku yourself."
Seeing a medic killed in the explosion not far away, Inoue Shiro hurriedly endured the excruciating pain and slowly crawled over.
He took out bandages from his first aid kit and quickly bandaged the wound on his leg.
Miyoshi Kihei didn't expect Inoue Shiro to dare to talk to him like that, but he couldn't very well pull out a Mauser pistol and shoot Inoue Shiro now.
In despair, Miyoshi Kihei drew his sword and pointed it at his abdomen, but after several attempts, he simply didn't have the courage to insert it.
At that moment, the rumbling sound of tanks could be heard.
Kihei Miyoshi put down his knife and leaned against the wall, hoping to be shot or blown to pieces by the other party.
Long Fei led a group of soldiers forward from behind the tank.
"Hurry up, eliminate the remaining enemy, and clear the battlefield and unexploded landmines."
After giving the order, Long Fei stared coldly at them and slowly walked up to Miyoshi Kihei and Inoue Shiro.
Then he said jokingly, "Isn't this Bushido? Isn't it about being loyal to the Emperor? Why don't you just say it?"
"I am an Imperial soldier and I will never surrender to you Chinese. Please give me a quick death."
Even at this point, Miyoshi Kihei's attitude remains as arrogant as ever.
"Go to hell, shut your damn mouth! Did I give you permission to speak? Whether you get your way or not isn't up to you, it's up to me."
While cursing angrily, Long Fei kicked Miyoshi Kihei in the chest.
Kihei Miyoshi let out a scream of pain, clutching his chest as he collapsed to the ground.
Upon seeing this, Inoue Shiro knew that he was doomed and went completely mad.
"Chinese, don't be so smug. Our planes will be here soon and will bomb you all to death."
"Also, our reinforcements will be arriving soon. You won't be able to escape, hehehehe..."
Long Fei sneered and went up to strike Inoue Shiro with both hands, leaving his face swollen like a pig's head.
Just then, the roar of airplanes could be heard in the distance.
After exchanging a glance, Miyoshi Kihei and Inoue Shiro both revealed smug smiles, even though Inoue Shiro's smile looked rather comical at that moment.
Long Fei knew exactly what they were laughing at, so he ordered four soldiers to lift the two men up and face them eastward.
"You little devils, don't be so smug. Today I'll show you what the world is like. Open your dog eyes and see clearly."
Less than a minute later, nine Japanese Type 94 bombers appeared in the eastern sky above Taiping Town.
At that moment, Miyoshi Kihei and Inoue Shiro saw streaks of fire rising from the ground and heading straight for the plane in the sky.
Immediately afterwards, a deafening roar echoed in the sky, followed by nine massive fireballs.
Nine bombers exploded violently in an instant, turning into dust in mid-air.
The burning debris fell densely from the sky to the ground, as dazzling as fireworks.
"What? How is this possible... Chinese, what secret weapon did you use to destroy our plane so easily?"
Kihei Miyoshi looked at Ryufei with a terrified expression, his question tinged with fear.
Long Fei didn't know whether the Japanese soldiers who committed heinous crimes in Xinzhuang were dead or alive.
He judged that the Japanese soldier was probably an officer, so he decided to confirm it. If he was still alive, he would take his revenge.
"Before I answer your question, tell me who boiled boys in iron pots in Xinzhuang, who used two horses to split people in half alive, and who ripped out the hearts of five children."
Kihei Miyoshi glanced at Shiro Inoue subconsciously.
Throughout the journey, Inoue Shiro kept talking about his ingenious and perverse methods of killing.
Therefore, although Miyoshi Kihei did not witness it firsthand, he knew that it was created by Inoue Shiro.
But Miyoshi Kihei didn't want to betray his comrades and compatriots, so he lowered his head and remained silent.
Long Fei wasn't in a hurry, since the Japanese bombers had already been destroyed and their 7th Regiment wouldn't arrive so quickly.
He continued, “I know everything about your call for reinforcements from the brigade commander and your request to send bombers to bomb the outskirts of Taiping Town. Your brigade commander dispatched the 7th Regiment to reinforce you and requested the division commander to send nine bombers.”
"How do you know so clearly?"
Long Fei spoke with such conviction, as if he had witnessed it firsthand, that Miyoshi Kihei was once again incredulous.
As Long Fei turned around, he said, "So, even if you don't tell me, I can still find out."
"Order: Bring me all the living Japanese soldiers."
A soldier from the new battalion asked naively, "Reporting to the regimental commander, should we bring the wounded as well?"
Long Fei, speechless, retorted, "Am I speaking a foreign language?"
Seeing that Long Fei was very serious, the soldier dared not say anything more, lowered his head and hurriedly left.
Soon, all the Japanese soldiers who were still breathing were brought to Long Fei. Many of them were unable to walk and were simply dragged along the way.
The special operations battalion and the Sichuan army brothers will have absolutely no pity for these inhuman scum.
All that remained was boundless rage and an unending hatred.
Seeing Xin Jiang standing next to Xie Qiang, Long Fei beckoned him over.
“You are probably the only survivor in Xinzhuang, so the heavy responsibility of avenging your parents, your sister, and all the villagers who perished falls on your shoulders.”
After saying that, Long Fei handed Xin Jiang a paratrooper knife.
“Xin Jiang, take this. If you join my army, you must have guts. Today I’ll give you your first lesson, the topic of which is eight words: an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.
Xin Jiang took the paratrooper knife without hesitation and held it tightly in his hand.
His bloodshot eyes radiated a chilling murderous aura.
