Wow, this rough-around-the-edges pregnant wife is something else, she's incredibly ruthless!

Chapter 22 Eating Wild Boar Meat: A Family's Blissful Life

By the pool.

In the hearth made of piled stones, there was an earthenware pot, in which Lu Chuan had stewed a pheasant. As time slowly passed, the aroma wafted out from the pot.

This prompted Lu He and Lu Yan, who were squatting nearby watching ants, to abandon their friends and follow Lu Chuan around.

"Daddy, is the chicken ready to eat?" Lu Yan asked, bringing her little face close to the white steam rising from the earthenware pot, her eyes closed as she savored the aroma. "It smells so good!"

Patting Lu He and Lu Yan's heads, Lu Chuan gently nudged them to keep them away from the fire. Then he lifted the lid of the earthenware pot, looked at it, and whispered, "It's ready. Call Mother for dinner."

"Great!"

The two little ones looked at the steaming chicken, their mouths watering, and they ran towards the hut.

"Mommy, time to eat meat!"

"Mommy, Daddy says it's time to eat!"

"You're here." Meng Tong stood up from the recliner, touched Lu Yan's little face and said with a smile, "Run slowly, or you'll fall."

Although Lu Chuan had cleared the ground, there were still some fresh little branches on it. If you ran too fast and accidentally bumped into one, you could easily get hurt.

Knowing that Meng Tong cared about them, the two little ones smiled and nodded at Meng Tong, "Mommy, we won't run away anymore."

"The pheasant Daddy made today smells so good! Mommy, you should eat more of it later."

"it is good."

Holding one child's hand in each hand, Meng Tong led them to the hearth in Lu Chuan Lane and took out the table, chairs, bowls, and chopsticks from the space.

After a while, the three of them got used to it. Lu Chuan was responsible for taking the earthenware pot out of the hearth, while Lu He and Lu Yan went to the pool to wash the dishes and chopsticks. Since it was running water, it wasn't considered bath water.

After placing the table on a relatively flat surface, Meng Tong set up the chairs, and Lu Chuan walked over carrying a clay pot.

"Wait a minute." Just as Lu Chuan was about to place the earthenware pot directly on the table, Meng Tong interrupted him. She quickly found a small wooden board in her spatial storage and placed it on the table, saying, "Put it on the wooden board. The earthenware pot is too hot. If you put it on the table a few times, it will break."

"it is good."

Lu Chuan obediently did as he was told, placing the earthenware pot on the wooden board, opening the lid to let it cool, and the chicken, still bubbling, looked very appetizing.

With her stomach growling uncooperatively, Meng Tong turned around and went to the fire pit to bring over the white flour pancakes that Lu Chuan had baked.

"Mother, the dishes are washed." Lu He and Lu Yan came to Meng Tong as if they were asking for praise, holding several clean bowls in their hands.

Reaching out to take the bowl and chopsticks and placing them on the table, Meng Tong smiled and said, "Great! Sit down! Let's get ready to eat."

"it is good."

The two little ones sat obediently in the chair, their big eyes fixed on Meng Tong as he ladled chicken soup and meat from the earthenware pot.

Each person had a bowl placed in front of them, the golden chicken soup paired with succulent chicken meat, and Lu He and Lu Yan couldn't help but swallow their saliva.

But their father and mother hadn't eaten yet, so the two little ones held back.

Lu Chuan, who had washed his hands, came over and calmly took the spoon from Meng Tong's hand to ladle a bowl of chicken soup for her. "Wife, have some chicken soup."

"Ah."

Sitting down on the chair, Meng Tong took the chicken soup and drank a sip. The taste was truly incomparable to the chicken meat of later generations.

So delicious.

Seeing Meng Tong and Lu Chuan start eating, Lu He and Lu Yan couldn't wait to start drinking soup and eating meat.

Her little mouth was so full she couldn't speak, and she finished the whole bowl in no time.

"Here, eat slowly, no one's going to take it from you." Meng Tong smiled and handed them two flatbreads.

Lu He and Lu Yan took it, their faces beaming with smiles, their mouths smeared with the oil from the chicken soup. "Thank you, Mother."

"Ah."

Meng Tong nodded and handed two more to Lu Chuan.

The family ate until their bellies were round on the first day they went into the mountains. Even Meng Tong felt a little full, mainly because Lu Chuan's cooking skills were good and the pheasant was plump and delicious.

Lying on the deck chair, looking at the bright moonlight in the sky, Meng Tong was looking forward to the days after entering the deep mountains.

……

the next morning.

The family of four slept in a makeshift wooden cabin in Luchuan. Inside, there were two beds, four chairs, and a table with several bowls and chopsticks and an earthenware pot on it.

This is all the wealth their family currently possesses.

Lu Chuan was the first to wake up. He first turned his head to look at the sleeping mother and her two daughters, and then carefully sat up.

The man subconsciously moved his left leg, and the pain had disappeared. He lifted his trouser leg and saw that it had almost completely healed.

A strange light flashed in Lu Chuan's eyes as he turned his deep gaze to Meng Tong. He knew his wife was no ordinary person; she was a fairy sent from heaven.

The fairy healed his leg, so he must be good to the fairy.

Having made up his mind, Lu Chuan got dressed and went out. Meng Tong opened her eyes, glanced at him, and then closed them again to sleep.

Around 1:15 AM, Meng Tong, Lu He, and Lu Yan also got up.

"Mother, where is Father!"

Not seeing Lu Chuan, Lu He looked up and asked Meng Tong.

While braiding the little girl's hair, Meng Tong said, "Father has gone out."

"Let's go! Let's go wash up."

"it is good."

Following Meng Tong to the pool, Lu He and Lu Yan obediently washed themselves.

After washing his face, Meng Tong felt much more awake. He looked around but didn't see Bai Hu, so he guessed that Lu Chuan must have gone into the mountains.

Anyway, with Tiger around, there shouldn't be too much of a problem, so Meng Tong didn't worry about it too much.

Meng Tong heated up the leftover chicken from last night and took out a pound of rice from his spatial storage.

Although flatbread with chicken is also quite good, Meng Tong still misses the taste of rice, especially chicken soup rice...it's amazing.

After rinsing the rice and cooking it in another pot, Meng Tong took Lu He and Lu Yan for a stroll around the area while the sun was still low in the morning. Surprisingly, the three of them found a nest of wild eggs and a small patch of wild vegetables.

"Mommy, we can eat eggs today."

"Yes! I'll fry one for each of you in a bit."

"Great! Great!" Lu He and Lu Yan said happily, "Mother and Father want to eat too."

"it is good."

Anyway, there were six wild eggs in this nest, which was enough for the four of them.

After digging up the wild vegetables, Meng Tong took the wild eggs, while Lu He and Lu Yan carried the wild vegetables and walked back.

Lu Chuan returned carrying a live chicken and three wild rabbits.

Bai Ye, who was following behind him, licked the blood from the corner of his mouth and lay down to rest in the shade.

Patting Bai Ye's head, Lu Chuan happily walked towards the wooden house, tied the live chicken with vines, put the basket on the door over the rabbit, and called out, "Wife."

No one answered. He turned and walked towards the fire pit. Looking at the chicken bubbling and steaming on the fire pit, and the rice that was almost cooked, Lu Chuan thought that the person was nearby.

Sure enough, they had only taken a few steps after getting up when they saw Meng Tong and his two companions walking towards them.

Lu Chuan walked over in a few steps and took the wild eggs from Meng Tong's hands and the wild vegetables from Lu He and Lu Yan's arms. He looked down at Meng Tong and asked, "Are you tired?"
