He didn't know why he felt this way. He felt a pang of sadness in his heart and his eyes stung. He didn't understand why his heart felt this way, but he knew that he was somewhat envious of Wu Xie, envious that everyone cared about him.

The young man seemed to sense that Ling Xiao was in a bad mood and explained, "It's to protect you!"

Ling Xiao looked at his brother, and for a moment he was taken aback. His vision blurred, and he quickly lowered his head. A crystal tear fell to the ground with a soft patter.

He didn't understand why he was crying, he just kept telling himself to stop crying! Stop crying! And he kept cursing himself for being so pathetic.

In his mind, emotions are never uncontrollable, but why?

His hand trembled slightly as he touched his face, as if to confirm something.

He looked like a child, a helpless child hiding in a corner, hugging himself and crying, but the bow in his hair and the Mickey Mouse outfit he wore seemed so...incongruous.

The young man reached out to comfort him, but Ling Xiao took a step back, then looked up at the young man and smiled, saying, "Young man, I'm going to get what I need." He then turned to look at Wu Xie and said, "I trust you with him."

The young man shook his head and said, "Let's go together!"

Just as Ling Xiao was about to refuse, the deliveryman added, "I've already taken the money!"

Ling Xiao nodded and sat down next to Wu Xie. Wu Xie asked him what he had talked about with Master Liang. Ling Xiao looked at the young man and saw that he did not move. He knew that he did not want to take off his mask, so he lied to Wu Xie that he wanted to ask Master Liang if he knew the contents of the map.

After hearing his words, Wu Xie asked, "Does he know or not?"

Ling Xiao shook his head and said, "He said he didn't know what was drawn on the map either, but he guessed that if we continued to follow the iron chain, we might find a way out."

Wu Xie nodded and said, "Lao Yang and I just discussed it. Lao Yang said that this intermittent fountain is very likely the legendary Yellow Springs. It might be hell below, and we might even encounter the Bridge of Helplessness."

"Even if it's the Bridge of Helplessness, or hell, it's still man-made," Ling Xiao comforted Wu Xie, hoping he wouldn't be so nervous.

Wu Xie breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing Ling Xiao's words, thinking to himself: Ling Zi is right, it's all just a scare tactic.

After Ling Xiao had rested enough, the group continued walking downstream. The pool was very deep, and when the flashlight beam shone through, it seemed like there was everything on the bottom, making Ling Xiao almost vomit.

Some skeletons and bloated corpses were entangled in the underwater iron chains, and there were also some things growing on the corpses that were reduced to just a few pieces of rotting flesh.

The pool was very deep, and the bottom was covered with the heads of stone figures. It was unclear whether their bodies were buried in the underwater soil.

Just then, something grabbed Wu Xie's foot, causing him to choke on water in fear.

Wu Xie struggled in the water and bumped into Ling Xiao's backpack in his panic. Ling Xiao noticed something was wrong and looked back. He saw that Wu Xie's face had turned purple and his eyes were rolling back. Ling Xiao pulled him back and also noticed what was holding his feet.

Ling Xiao swam over, took out the Emei dagger hidden in his sleeve, and stabbed it at the skeleton in the water, severing the skeleton's wrist.

The young man (Master Liang) also swam over and pulled Wu Xie up.

Wu Xie was panting heavily on top of him. He could clearly see what was grabbing his feet—a skeleton with half of its flesh gone.

"Ghost! There's a ghost!" Wu Xie kept patting Liang Shiye's shoulder and shouting.

"It's not a ghost, just a parasite!" Ling Xiao then surfaced and explained to Wu Xie.

"Where's Lao Yang?" Wu Xie asked anxiously.

"Go! Hurry up! The water jet is coming down!" Lao Yang shouted from behind the group.

A sound came from the other side of the waterfall, and the group hurriedly swam downstream, but it was too late. The water jets surged down, creating huge waves that scattered them all.

When Ling Xiao woke up, he found himself in a somewhat unreal space, surrounded by mist that made it difficult to see clearly.

"You're awake?" A cold voice echoed around the space.

"Who are you?" Ling Xiao's tone was tinged with caution and fear.

"Hahahaha..." A burst of laughter erupted.

Ling Xiao cursed inwardly: What the hell are you laughing at?
