The cage was opened, and the man roughly pulled the cat out. The kitten was caught in mid-air and, as if sensing something, struggled fiercely, scratching the man desperately, and even crying like a baby.

The man showed no mercy; instead, he became excited by the kitten's resistance and slammed it to the ground. The kitten was smashed in the head, bleeding profusely from its nose and whimpering. The man didn't continue, but Ling Xiao's mother stepped forward and delivered the final kick, ending the kitten's life.

The man placed the cat next to Lingxiao, who was curled up on the bed. Lingxiao's mother then quickly cleaned up the bloodstains on the floor. After doing this, the two of them left. Their cooperation looked so practiced, as if they had done this hundreds of times before.

Xie Yuhua wanted to take the body away; he didn't want the child to wake up and see such a scene. But he couldn't. He didn't understand why Ling Xiao's mother would treat her child this way. Xie Yuhua clenched his fists. He had always told the child that he could help him, but when the child needed him, he could only watch helplessly. It wasn't that he believed this was the child's real life; he just felt anxious because he couldn't help. At this moment, Xie Yuhua could only hope that the child wouldn't wake up.

Daylight broke quickly. Contrary to what Xie Yuhua had imagined, Xiao Lingxiao did not cry or fuss after waking up. Instead, he quietly got out of bed, took out a pair of gloves from the drawer, and then rummaged through the toy cabinet for a small shovel. He put on the gloves, took the shovel, and carried the cat's corpse out the door.

Jieyuhua was 'forced' to follow Xiaolingxiao to the flower bed. She watched as Xiaolingxiao buried the kitten little by little, then took off his gloves, picked a flower, washed it clean, and ate the flower bite by bite.

After finishing eating the flower, Xiao Lingxiao suddenly glanced in the direction of the Understanding Flower and said coldly, "Haven't you had enough yet?"

As soon as Lingxiao finished speaking, a force pulled Xieyuhua back. Xieyuhua sat up, panting slightly, and looked at Lingxiao. Lingxiao sensed the movement beside him, opened his eyes, leaned over and wrapped his arms around Xieyuhua's waist from behind, resting his head on Xieyuhua's shoulder. His voice was a little hoarse as he asked with concern, "Did Brother Xiaohua have a nightmare?"

Ling Xiao couldn't keep his eyes open, yawning wearily, with tears still glistening in the corners of his eyes.

Jieyuhua held Lingxiao's hand that was wrapped around him, tilted his head and said, "I dreamed of you."

Ling Xiao squeezed in front of Xie Yuhua, rested his head on Xie Yuhua's lap, and asked while lying down, "Why is it that when I dream about you, it's a nightmare?"

"I dreamt of you when you were little." Xie Yuhua stroked his head, recalling the dream she had just had.

Ling Xiao immediately snapped out of his daze, chuckling as he fiddled with the buttons on Jieyuhua's pajamas, asking, "What did I look like when I was little? Was I obedient?" He then muttered to himself, "If it's a nightmare, then I must have been disobedient. How about it? Did the little guy bite you? I was quite fierce when I was little." As he spoke, Ling Xiao even made a scary tiger face.

"Yes! You were so fierce in my dream, you even glared at me!" Xie Yuhua said with a comforting smile.

After playing around for a while, Ling Xiao got sleepy again. He took Xie Yuhua's arm and naturally placed it under his head as a pillow. Xie Yuhua was coaxing the child to sleep, her mind filled with the dream she had just had and the last words Ling Xiao had said in the dream. Before she knew it, she had fallen asleep as well.
