Chapter 164 Power Outage Archives
Pushing open the door, Huang Aotian followed closely behind, and the two entered the room.
The air inside the room was colder and more gloomy than in the corridor, exuding an eerie atmosphere.
Dim light shone from a chandelier in the center of the room, the light dim and weak, unable to dispel the shadows.
The walls were covered with runes written in blood-red ink, which were slightly distorted and looked like living things in the dim light, as if they were about to come alive.
On the wall directly opposite the door stood an old full-length mirror, its frame carved with countless tiny skull decorations. The mirror surface gleamed with an ominous silver light, reflecting the distorted images of Chen Yang and his companion.
The old coach stood beside a long table in the center of the room, with a chair covered in black silk behind him, which looked like some kind of high seat used in sacrificial rites.
Upon seeing Chen Yang and the other person enter, he slowly raised his head, revealing a wrinkled face with eyes as sharp as a hawk's.
"Please have a seat, gentlemen."
The old coach pointed to two chairs in front of the long table, his tone somewhat gentle.
Chen Yang and Huang Aotian sat down, their expressions calm, but their eyes remained alert as they scanned the room.
Seeing this, the veteran coach chuckled and said, "Don't be nervous, I won't hurt you."
He paused for a moment, then continued, "I was too busy with other matters this afternoon to explain much about the initiation ceremony, so I called you two here to chat."
Upon hearing this, Chen Yang nodded slightly, his tone neither humble nor arrogant: "Thank you for your trouble, instructor."
The old instructor's gaze fell on Chen Yang's left hand, as if he were pondering something: "From the first moment I saw you, I sensed that you were different from ordinary Protestants, especially you—"
His tone shifted, and he slightly raised his finger, pointing to Chen Yang's left arm: "The aura of this arm is faintly connected to some of the secret techniques I taught you."
Upon hearing this, Chen Yang remained outwardly calm, but inwardly he felt a slight unease.
"As for how you obtained this opportunity, I will not inquire."
The veteran coach continued:
"The 'holy water' this afternoon was nothing more than a low-grade serum prepared for ordinary believers. With your qualifications, you have no need to use such a thing at all."
Chen Yang remained silent, while the veteran coach continued to talk eloquently.
"Moreover, it is extremely rare in our sect to be able to cultivate such a powerful corpse plant on its own."
Chen Yang did not respond, but simply stared at the old coach, waiting for him to continue.
The old instructor paused, his tone becoming solemn: "Therefore, I would like to introduce you two, along with this corpse plant, to the Lord. With your talent and aptitude, only the Lord is qualified to bestow upon you true sacred objects."
Hearing this, Chen Yang raised an eyebrow slightly, but his tone remained calm: "Why doesn't the sect leader personally preside over today's ceremony?"
The old instructor sighed: "The sect leader is currently dealing with an extremely important matter and has not yet returned. However, he will be back soon, and then he will naturally meet with you both."
After he finished speaking, a hint of expectation appeared in his eyes, as if he was waiting for Chen Yang's response.
Chen Yang lowered his head and pondered for a moment, then smiled faintly: "In that case, thank you for your kindness, Coach."
The old instructor nodded, his voice deep and powerful: "Our sect emphasizes substance, and the sect leader will surely appreciate your talents."
After saying that, he raised his hand and gestured for the guest to leave: "Get some rest tonight. When the leader returns, I will personally arrange a meeting with him."
Chen Yang stood up, bowed slightly, and turned to leave with Huang Aotian.
The door closed slowly behind them, and in the cold air, those hawk-like eyes remained fixed on their departing figures, subtly conveying an unfathomable meaning.
Chen Yang and Huang Aotian walked out of the room and into the dark corridor.
The corridor remained pitch black, with only the moonlight streaming through the windows casting dappled shadows on the ground.
The sound of their footsteps was exceptionally clear in the quiet space; each step seemed to strike a chord in one's heart.
Suddenly, a figure in black robes slowly walked towards them from the front.
Chen Yang and Huang Aotian instinctively tensed up, staring warily at each other, their fingers slightly touching the cards at their waists.
But the man in black robes did not stop. He simply lowered his head and silently brushed past the two of them, as if he had not noticed their presence at all.
Only when the figure completely disappeared at the end of the corridor did Huang Aotian breathe a sigh of relief and mutter a complaint in a low voice, "Why are all the people in this place like ghosts, walking without making a sound?"
Chen Yang did not respond, his gaze sweeping towards the end of the corridor, lost in thought: "There might still be archives or materials left behind by the military in the past here."
Huang Aotian was taken aback, then lowered his voice: "You mean you're going to look for information? Isn't that a bit too bold?"
Chen Yang raised the corners of his mouth slightly, revealing a faint smile: "It doesn't matter. As you can see, only those with tokens can enter this building. Since we're already inside, why not take a look around?"
Huang Aotian thought for a moment and nodded: "That makes sense, but I think we need to act quickly."
The two began to wander through the enormous fortress.
Along the way, they encountered many believers dressed in black robes. These people were silent, and their movements were somewhat sinister.
Whenever Chen Yang and Huang Aotian approached, these men in black robes would simply step aside to make way for them, coldly walking past them as if they were lifeless zombies.
They, who were originally on the fifth floor, slowly went down to the third floor.
Finally, at the end of a relatively secluded corridor, they stopped.
A metal sign hangs on an iron gate, which reads "Information Archives".
This is clearly the information archive room that the Southern Military District used in the past.
A seal from the Corpse Cult was affixed to the iron chain at the entrance.
Huang Aotian frowned: "Seal? The door is locked, we can't get in."
Chen Yang didn't care. He raised his hand and summoned the Agave.
The plant appeared silently from the air, its pale green leaves making a gentle sway.
The massive iron lock snapped in two with a "crack," and the runes on the seal dimmed, turning into wisps of weak smoke and dissipating.
Huang Aotian thought to himself, "This is someone else's base camp. Can we really be this arrogant?"
Then he thought that Chen Yang had three eighth-level plants in his hand, which seemed to give him the confidence to do so.
Without waiting for Huang Aotian, Chen Yang pushed open the door and walked straight in: "What are you still standing there for? Come in quickly."
Huang Aotian looked around to make sure no one was nearby before quickly following and carefully closing the door.
The room was dark, and the air was filled with a musty smell, as if it hadn't been used for a long time.
After looking around, the two discovered that the room's power supply had been cut off, rendering all electronic devices and lighting unusable.
The only light they could get was from the flashlight they found on the table.
Turning on his flashlight, Chen Yang's gaze swept around the room. The room was neatly arranged with filing cabinets, each labeled with a different date and number.
Huang Aotian asked in a low voice, "What can we find with these things?"
A sharp glint flashed in Chen Yang's eyes: "Let's take a look first. We might make an unexpected discovery."
The two moved among the filing cabinets, quickly scanning each one.
The labels on the cabinets varied; some seemed to indicate the army's operational plans, others recorded details of logistical supplies, and there were even documents with strange runes locked in the glass cabinets.
Chen Yang said in a low voice, "These files seem to be well preserved; the Corpse Cult members didn't clean them up."
Huang Aotian nodded slightly and couldn't help but sigh, "There are probably more things hidden here than we imagined."
The two men, armed with flashlights, split up; one flipped through documents, while the other searched for clues in the cupboards.
The room was unusually quiet, with only the faint sounds of papers turning and footsteps.
Until a third person's voice was heard.
"Big brother, what are you doing?"
