HP: The Root of Everything - The Magician
Chapter 27 The Secret Room 5 Years Ago
"This...is the limitation of magic."
"Magic is often a very convenient thing, but in many things, it can leave people helplessly unable to move forward."
"Because magic lacks a theoretical foundation, it is like a rootless duckweed floating on the sea."
"But magic is different. It has solid theories and knowledge that can help you surpass yourself when facing difficulties and bottlenecks, allowing you to break through and move forward, paving the way for you—Hermione."
"Regarding the bottleneck you're currently facing, I, Professor, have a training array for analysis and observation that I can give you, but I don't want you to gain something for nothing."
Hermione understood and immediately asked, "Then, Professor, what should I do when faced with this bottleneck?"
Faced with Hermione's thirst for knowledge, Teach smiled with satisfaction: "Hermione, as I told you, magic cannot be confined by fixed cognitive frameworks, so let your thinking break free from the framework of magic."
"You should know that you are not a pure-blood wizard; your home is in the real world."
After hearing Teach's suggestion, Hermione racked her brains and finally had a flash of inspiration and came up with a solution.
She excitedly said to Teach, "Thank you for reminding me, Professor! I'll write a letter to my parents right away and ask them to send a 'microscope' to Hogwarts."
Teach grabbed Hermione, who was still on the go, and continued, "The transmutation arrays I use for analysis are derived from constantly observing the internal structures of various things using modern scientific tools. I hope that you can use your own abilities to depict these analytical transmutation arrays through your own observation."
"Don't let me down, Professor, Hermione."
After Teach Carr finished giving her advice, Hermione skipped off to write a letter home.
At that moment, a powerful, aged voice came from behind: "Professor Teach Carr, your theory has once again shocked me, making me rethink the existence of magic as a power."
"In my more than 150 years of magical career, I have studied magic, but the result has only made it more unfathomable to me."
"The only thing that makes me happy is that I have developed several powerful spells."
After Albus Dumbledore finished speaking, he stood next to Teach Carr and poured himself a glass of pumpkin juice to drink.
Hearing Dumbledore's words, Teach smiled and said, "Headmaster, are you also facing a bottleneck now?"
"Are you saying you're going to give up magic and learn magic tricks from me?"
Dumbledore chuckled at Teach's amusing remark, "Relearning magic? That's certainly an exciting suggestion, but I'm the headmaster of Hogwarts, and I need power to protect my students."
After finishing his casual conversation, Dumbledore turned to Teach Carr and asked, "Mr. Carr, can you tell me what happened on your way back to your office after you left Severus?"
"Oh~ Principal, are you suspecting that I did Fulch's wife cat and those bloody words on the wall?"
“No, no, no…” Dumbledore shook his head and said, “I have never doubted you, not at all. I just feel that you are hiding something in this matter, and as the headmaster, I just want to know.”
After hearing this explanation, Teach stared into Dumbledore's bright eyes and said, "Headmaster, are you really not... asking a question you already know the answer to?"
"You're over 150 years old now, so you must have been the headmaster of Hogwarts for over a hundred years, right?"
"Didn't something like this happen once fifty years ago? You couldn't have been pretending to be deaf and dumb back then, could you?"
Teach's words immediately made Dumbledore frown. Ignoring the sarcasm in Teach's tone, he asked with unusual seriousness, "So, you encountered the Basilisk last night?"
"What is it like? How dangerous is it?"
Teach asked in surprise, "People died back then, and you didn't see the basilisk?"
To everyone's surprise, Dumbledore shook his head: "No, I have never seen the Basilisk."
"A student did indeed die back then, but when I wanted to thoroughly investigate Hogwarts to find the murderer, the case came to an abrupt end."
"I consulted numerous books in the library dating back to the founding of Hogwarts, and finally found a clue in a history book of magic, which described a dangerous basilisk that could kill with its eyes."
"Then I used 'Trace Reveal' to find the person who had turned the pages of this book; he was one of my most valued students."
"I suspected he was the culprit who opened the secret chamber and released the basilisk, but he hid it too perfectly in front of me, and coupled with my momentary soft-heartedness and unwillingness to believe him..."
"...The matter from back then was left unresolved because there was no murderer."
After hearing Dumbledore's account, Teach couldn't help but let out a mocking snort: "Moiraffee in the women's restroom, what a tragic end!"
[The murderer was let go out of the way out of selfishness. Is this a case of dying with regrets? No wonder he became a ghost in Hogwarts.]
Finally, under Dumbledore's guilty expression and questioning gaze, Teach revealed the information about the Basilisk. However, Teach wouldn't be so foolish as to reveal who opened the Chamber of Secrets: "What if Dumbledore knew it was Ginny Weasley and went straight to capture her, then opened the Chamber and led the professors to collectively annihilate the Basilisk? What would happen to my Evil Eye materials?"
So, Teach Carr is currently playing the role of a bystander, and will only appear at the very end to become a hunter before Harry Potter.
Of course, this is assuming the original plot remains unchanged.
......
At Hogwarts, several students have been killed due to the Basilisk's rampage.
Unlike in the movie, some of the victims made direct eye contact with the basilisk monster and died.
Fortunately, Hermione didn't let her curiosity get the better of her by searching for the truth so that Harry Potter could hear the Basilisk's voice, thus avoiding the plot where she was indirectly petrified by the Basilisk in the library.
For the rest of the semester, Hermione spent her time in her dorm room after class observing minerals under a microscope and recording the truths she learned from her observations.
With the learning of magic, Hermione no longer had time to spend with Harry and Ron, but instead focused on studying and researching the magic that Teach had taught her.
Meanwhile, Teach Carl, the bystander, was also busy searching for a way to withstand or become immune to the basilisk and face death directly.
After consulting numerous magical resources and asking Potions Master Snape, Teach came up with a solution.
Having learned the method, Teach devoted himself to studying Professor Pomona Sprout's herbal medicine class, mainly learning how to cultivate mandala grass.
Mandara grass, when processed with magic potions, can be used to create a potion that heals petrification.
Teach Carl has determined that there is no way to be immune to the Basilisk's instant-death effect from its eyes; the only way to resist it is with specially made magical items or magical artifacts.
Moreover, the resistance can only block a portion of the damage, reducing the immediate death effect of death instantaneous.
