HP: The Root of Everything - The Magician
Chapter 19 Extra-staff Teachers
Teach Carr stood in front of the door, and instead of saying any password, the door opened automatically.
After climbing a short spiral staircase, Teach arrived in front of Albus Dumbledore: [Just as he appeared in the movies, he was an old man with a white beard that could be used as a broom].
As soon as Teach stood in the principal's office, the portrait hanging on the wall began to murmur among the onlookers. Teach had no interest in what they were talking about; he was currently staring intently at the phoenix 'Fox': [The phoenix has the miraculous ability to be reborn from the ashes. I wonder if we could extract that rebirth ability by training this phoenix?]
Under Teach Carr's aggressive gaze, Fox seemed to sense some malice, let out a cry at Teach, and flew away as if fleeing.
With no object of his interest to observe, Teach could only turn his eyes to the old man Dumbledore. After looking at each other for a while, Dumbledore smiled and apologized, "I'm very sorry, I think my phoenix Fawkes is a little shy."
"Hehe, it's my fault. After all, phoenixes are extremely rare. In the country where I study magic, phoenixes are not mythical creatures; they only exist in human imagination, but their appearance is quite different from yours, Fox."
"Oh, what kind of image does it have? I'm very curious, Mr. Carl."
So, in the ensuing casual conversation, Teach Carr told Dumbledore about his past life as a phoenix.
Then, Dumbledore was very surprised by the power of the mythical phoenix and its wondrous story.
After the casual conversation, the atmosphere between the old man and the young man in the office became more harmonious. Dumbledore then began the real topic of the evening, asking, "Mr. Teach Carr, in my letter I wrote that I welcomed you to study at Hogwarts, and I personally admire your thirst for knowledge..."
"But I know absolutely nothing about your 'magic tricks.' You know I'm a principal, and I'm responsible for the safety of my students."
"After all, there are many dangerous situations that can arise during the release and research of some magic."
After listening, Teach understood what Dumbledore wanted to know, so he drew a chakra circle on the office floor with mercury and then placed a piece of candy on the chakra circle.
In a burst of fluorescence, the candy underwent material decomposition, breaking down into the raw materials needed to make the candy.
Then, Teach erased one of the patterns on the array and re-engraved it. The candy ingredients melted and combined, changing their shape into a wizard's hat.
After watching it, Dumbledore clapped his hands and said, "Mr. Teach Carr, a truly brilliant Transfiguration magic trick!"
"Is this magic that rivals magical power?"
Teach inwardly chuckled at Dumbledore's knowledge and questions, then tossed the wizard's hat to Dumbledore, telling him to take a closer look.
Dumbledore looked at the wizard's hat in his hand and, after careful observation, noticed something suspicious. He then used wandless spellcasting and chanted a spell over the hat: "Show yourself quickly."
The spell to restore things to their original state had no effect on the wizard's hat, which greatly surprised Dumbledore, the great white wizard. He then looked at Teach Carr, wanting an explanation.
As he wished, Teach took the wizard's hat and explained, "Magic, not sorcery..."
"It is a material force, and anyone can learn it through study, as long as they grasp its knowledge."
"Because He exists with a theoretical foundation."
"I used alchemical magic on this wizard's hat, but not the kind of alchemy you use in magic. It's the alchemy of 'equivalent exchange' and 'eternal transformation of resources'."
After saying that, Dumbledore was still a little puzzled.
Seeing this, Teach frowned and could only offer a simple explanation: "Headmaster Dumbledore, Transfiguration is the ability to turn one object into another, or a 'living' animal."
"But according to my research, the transformation spell only achieves the transformation by adding magic to the object to 'stretch' the material. However... the essence of the object itself remains unchanged. In other words, once the transformed object loses the magical enhancement, it will 'shrink' and return to its original state."
"The transmutation spell that turns 'inanimate objects' into 'living objects' does not actually give life to the inanimate objects; it is merely an illusion."
"The transformed 'living creatures' are simply the result of the wizard imbuing them with his own imagination and design for the animal, making the objects able to run, jump, and roar."
After saying this, Teach Carr smiled and asked Dumbledore, "Is my interpretation correct, Headmaster?"
'Snap~ Snap~ Snap~ Snap~'
This time, the applause was genuine from Dumbledore: "A truly brilliant explanation! Mr. Karl, your understanding of the Transfiguration Charm is admirable."
"You see, modern wizards only know how to use magic, they don't study it. They use spells if they have them, they don't use them if they don't, they never research new spells."
“Mr. Teach Carr, I want to tell you that your understanding of the Transfiguration Charm alone is enough to qualify you as a professor at Hogwarts.”
No one would be unhappy with recognition, and Teach, amidst Dumbledore's praise, went on to explain the uniqueness of this alchemy hat: "Magic alchemy, equivalent exchange, everything has a beginning and an end."
"This wizard's hat was 'permanently' transformed from the raw materials of candy. It is already fixed in shape and contains no power, so it will not turn back into candy material under the influence of external objects."
"Because its internal structure has been transformed by my magic array, turning into the fibrous material of the hat."
Upon hearing this, Dumbledore understood: "So, to change matter on the existing basis and complete an eternal transformation?"
"Yes, Principal!"
Dumbledore took the crafted wizard's hat, marveling at it as he examined it and remarked, "Knowledge is boundless; modern wizards are all stuck in their ways."
Having said that, Dumbledore calmly took the wizard's hat for himself, and then formally said to Teach Carr, "Mr. Carr, my original idea was to have you attend classes as a transfer student without a grade, but the magical knowledge you have demonstrated has made me reconsider your status at Hogwarts."
"So, would you like to serve as an unofficial professor at Hogwarts?"
After saying that, he explained, "Unofficial professor~ you should understand what I mean. Although you are a professor, you only have one office to use. You can communicate and learn from other professors on an equal footing, and you can also attend classes as a student."
"You are a professor, and although you are not officially a professor, you still have to fulfill your duties as a professor in front of your students. So when a student is interested in your magic and wants to learn, you can choose to teach them some of your knowledge."
Teach Carr's suggestion to Dumbledore was expected.
With this professorship, the Aurors of the Ministry of Magic should have some reservations about his secret pursuit.
With that in mind, Teach readily agreed, but still made a request: "Headmaster Dumbledore, you must understand that magic and sorcery are not the same. Equivalent exchange is the principle of magic."
"Knowledge is such an important thing, I won't selflessly teach the students who come to me to learn, so... Principal, what do you plan to use to pay for my teaching of magic knowledge?"
